Ram, I got a lot of respect for you bro. You introduced me to a lot of interesting people and helped me get into the scene. For that you have my respect man. But I knew something was off about this tourney the moment the details were mentioned, and for things to take 3 pages of people asking you questions to finally reveal what was up with the venue fee…well, I dunno man. If you woulda been honest bout the whole thing in the beginning bro I wouldn’t have minded fronting up the bills on that tourney (despite it being higher than other tournies AND being on X-box 360). For some people, ten-fifteen bucks is chump change, but shit, I ain’t got a job so I don’t have chump change lying around. I got phone bill and shit to pay for, and living off funds givin to you by your folks is pretty shitty circumstances, so I gotta make my money worthwhile.
I know I’m still pretty noob, especially running tournies and shit, and yeah you may know a lot of people…but the entire details of this event shoulda been on page 1, and that’s whats up bro. Yeah, Sac-town has been dead as fuck and shouldn’t bitch about any tournies in the area period. But people look at this and read it, and shit they start thinking well shady shit is going down. This dude trying to collect on sac-town players or something? But see, I don’t view you as that type of guy at all. If anything, I appreciate what your doing and what your about, but everything shoulda been up front. No disrespect to you, but I’m just voicing my opinion on the matter. Either way I wouldn’t have been able to attend despite my initial response, but just thought I’d post my 2 cents.
Im glad I was able to introduce you to the scene! It’s always fun to throw down with you and Abe. You guys are cool as hell. Shit next to you guys John B. is the only guy I really play with out here in sac.
Me personally have sat down and hung out with this guy quite a bit. We even had a fairly lengthy discussion about this, and he’s not the type of guy to pull shady shit on people who put their trust in him. I know Ram and what he’s about, so this whole ordeal was a bit blown out of proportion due to the lack of info provided in the beginning, which was unintentional. I was with this guy when we rolled up to this place where the tourney is going down the first time they denied him, so it REALLY is a good thing that this place is allowing us to even have a tourney, regardless of wtf is up with the economy which was mentioned earlier. It’s not like he was trying to hide information from nobody cuz he answered questions about the tournament straight up. If Ram was really trying to hustle us, he wouldn’t have told us from the get go. And if you think about it, free pizza and its a local tourney, fifteen bucks is not bad (assuming its one game). I remember going to San Jose tournies and that shit costing us twenty bucks flat just off gas (thats low), not to mention food expenses, tournament costs w/fees and tokens ontop of that, and parking. So really we’re getting our money worth, and its local. Ram has run SEVERAL tournies before this and is a well known figure in our area, so he wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize his reputation or relationship with the fighting game community.
My apologies Ram, I’m glad we cleared shit up bro. I still gotta figure out ride and hustle a bit for some bread before Saturday hits. As far as I’m concerned, things is still kool. I always knew you were bought the community, and glad we got our Sac scene back.
here’s how i see it. If this tourney turns out well, great escape might hold tournies in the future without the need to be connected with SHP.
and yea, anyone who knows/met tyram knows he’s not the shady kind of guy.
only thing close to shady about tyram would be his un-comboed supers. <3
re: elfuerte infinite:
if you can get this unbanned, that’d make the tourney look more legit, but honestly, we’re not gonna see an el fuerte infinite at the tourney. and if we did…sick.
I’ll be waiting for this. Nobody entering will “most likely” not see the benefit of supporting this club.
I knew a couple people who were friends with the employees and owner at Great Escape…wish I knew there was an attempt to get a tourney there before, I could of asked them to see what they could do. Unfortunately, the local scene wasn’t proactive/communicating and was pretty much dead.
Drop the club and I’m there for the next one.
Otherwise, nice job Tyram. Coming from Fairfield and getting a local tourney up after 8 years of dead space.
afaik, the problem with this is that tyram was unable to get the tourney location without the aid of shp. i’m assuming some kind of internal hookup. if it’s a “no show” tourney, chances are great escape will just assume tyram’s idea is a POS waste of time, rather than blaming it on the club.
Exactly. This might be the necessary evil we’ll need to go through in order to help kick start the Sac scene. If this shit gets big, and we can get MAAAAD hype for another one, we may be able to have some tournies around here! I would re consider just for the potential of future tournaments. Come. Eat some free pizza. Let me take some of your money in some money matches. It’ll be fun
Hey guys, this is the guy who set up the tournament with Tyram. I’m Matt, you’ll see me there at Great Escape.
Ok, since people are getting irritated about the rules, me and Tyram talked it over and the evo rules don’t state anything about anyone being banned so since this is the first sac tournament, we’re going to follow Evo rules and see what needs to be done the next time. Sorry about all the hate guys.
**So finally after all the feedback, we’re unbanning Seth, Gouken, and the El Fuerte infi.
**
GL this saturday fellas!
And don’t trip, ya’ll getting some pizza too!
