It’s hip to hate on SFxT
"Well in our language Eebowai means God, and hasa diga means fuck you! So in your language it would translate to fuck you God!

I love how the singers tactfully don’t mention how stupid white people problems are, it’s just known.
This game is pretty fun. Sf cast is whack tho like that one guy said earlier. Xiaoyu and king are the shit…havent played it enough tho to see if it feels like 3s…it doesnt so far
Played the game for a bit yesterday and so far it feels very flavour of the month right now. Although I have had limited experience with the engine it feels very shallow. Aesthetically this game is not very pleasing. The backgrounds feel very disjointed and busy with no focal. However, I will try my best to enjoy the experience that is SFXT before this game gets put away for good.
Went out and bought it… played for a little bit so far meh… will give it a few more tries seems like a waste of 60 bucks so far though.
-Directional inputs are funky (tried switching between analog and dig on my stick still got the occasional neutral jump instead of directional jump.
system is interesting… (not sure yet if I mean that in a good or a bad way)
cast, look and feel of game are very meh
I think the Tekken characaters are pretty cool. They have a very thoughtful way of play attached to them. Some of them do, or it might just be because I’m sick of the simple low forward xx fireball zoning. I enjoy it.
SFxT Ken is a throwback to 3s in some aspects.
Target combo is great again, totally safe on block, can hitconfirm into anything included LPsrk, and you can juggle after LPsrk
Super is Shippu again… and it’s 2 frame startup. Can link super after like everything (included b+Mk again!) and punishes stuff on block which is safe against everyone else in the game.
I don’t know if 3s players as a whole will like SFxT (but, again, it’s an inane point, it’s not like being a 3s player makes you have the exact same tastes as other 3s players), but I’ sure at least they will hate the game less than sf4
yeh! i had to go test out the target combo earlier today just to check. its just cool having that kind of stuff i guess if you play 3S. it makes the game seem friendlier to 3S players. same with ryu having joudan back. its like a little nod and wink. some recognition that they didnt forget 3S exists.
also shoryus being beaten by meaties. i dont know if that works in 4 or what, but in this game a well timed meaty will beat a shoryu except for EX.

If anything the only games that have come out since 3S that “feel” like 3S or similar enough where a 3S player can do well in it are: Akatsuki Blitzkampf. It has parries, but the parries are more like Last Blade than 3S but it has easy mode supers like 3S. The only other game that feels like 3S to me is KOF13.
Tried the game at FFA today. The game is actually pretty fun, the combos are entertaining and the pace is more suited for me compared to SF4. I think I’d like the game more if SF characters weren’t in, they all look retarded.
Punishable on hit - the game
musta left early, I was just there! (with Victoly!)
lot’s of nut hugging in here, which isn’t new on 3s threads unfortunately. imo, this game is nothing like 3rd strike and i don’t see why it would cater to 3s fans. confirming into super is a waste of meter when you can confirm into tag then tag cancel into more damage all for one bar instead of two (plus you build meter in the process). stages are like HELLA long. feels 1.5x longer than sf4 stages and then there are forward rolls from hard knockdowns which get you out of the corner and aren’t as easy to punish as you’d think. worst of all are throws. throws eat up a lot of time off the clock (special camera twists and zooms) and do little damage for having incredibly short range and even worse startup. throws are ass and throws were a huge part of 3s and sf2, so it’s going to cause you a lot of frustration dealing with over-defensive/runaway players. this leads me into my next point: time outs.
if you’ve been watching footage of the tourney play from this game you’ll notice that this game has more time outs then a spoiled rich kid. maybe the game will evolve over time and this won’t be such a huge deal but as of now, sf characters have such slow overheads, floaty jumps and short throw range that it’s very hard to open up an opponent. some overheads can be punished on block and i don’t think all overheads can be comboed from. again, not like 3s or enticing to 3s players. the wake-up game is closer to that of 3s and other sf games but that’s about it.
Gems. yeah, they are starting to get exploited and aren’t as harmless as we thought they were a few weeks ago. i’m not going to go too much into it but ultradavid already found some stupid shit and i know it’s going to get even more ridiculous.
so wanna know why 3s players might like this game? because we were hoping it would replace sf4 at tournaments and it’s more aggressive like ALL other sf games. well, now it’s proving to be otherwise but the game still has a long ways away to more fully evolve to make a better assessment. there’s a lot less mash reversals (they are still there but do ass damage), no FADC on block although tag cancels are similar you can punish both characters if you time it right, and most supers don’t cut into a dragonball hour long animation ala ultras.
TLDR
if you hated sf4 you’ll hate this a little less. if you kinda liked sf4 then you’ll like it a little better. still too defensive as we’re finding out but capcom can still make this game a lot better in the long run.
who’s nuts are being hugged
^ I agree. The Tekken characters, particularly the Grapplers, look really interesting to me. And Hugo looks all right too. I would suspect a lot of people using Ryu/Ken Just because their easy and can probably combo into anything for okay damage to go along with a more unique Tekken character.
But the game still looks like shit, plus the upcoming DLC Gems that give scrubs auto-combos (between 3-6 hits) are fucking retarded.
If you’re a moron.
… There are already auto-combos and they suck. Please pick up the game before bitching about it.
Because SFXT is very similar to 3S mirror Chun with meter.
I’m not joking.
quick combos already exist. i dont think ive ever seen one used effectively since you need to combo into them for them to not leave you with your ass hanging out.
im not a big fan of the sf4 look, but i do think that most of the tekken cast looks good in that style. especially kazuya, king, lili, raven and yoshimitsu. hugo is ugly as sin.
yeah if you like wrestler type dudes and play alex, definitely king and marduk will be fun to use. they gave marduk basically alex’s low fierce, and he has an airgrab (like abel style as opposed to alex’s air knee). so you can do low fierce into his air grab although i think he can follow up for more damaging stuff instead. some of his jumping attacks are alexish too. he’s just not as mobile as alex. his b.strong is kind of cool though, its a long range backfist. slow move but it has superarmor.
if you have the game my bad, lot of redundant info.
edit: the back strong cant combo, i dont know what happened one time online then…
