cool stuff dude.
if you also play remy, remember the concepts that urien uses apply to remy also. easiest thing to try is like doing back to back lovs, or even just really close timing lovs.
right now im working on being able to consistently do a lov and then dash dash into either another lov or a flash kick. i can do that 100% from one dash, doing the partition across 2 dashes gives me trouble from 2p side. the coolest thing is stuff like that doesn’t actually do anything more for me really. but it gives me options that i dont have if i simply cannot do that.
which is why i think people who just want smash bros style inputs should be taken somewhere and shot. becoming technically proficient and learning all that stuff is part of playing. it’s part of the sense of achievement.
That’s actually great to know since I have an extremely scrubby/gimmicky Remy (I started using him against my friend who isn’t great at 3S at all).
I’m going to focus on Akuma, Urien, Dudley and Ibuki for now. Ibuki is actually my favorite character from anything, but she’s frustrating to use when you’re trying to learn the game.
I’m not sure if the input for the juggle Aku gave me was easier or not, but the feeling of accomplishment when I did something as simple as getting the EX headbutt out made me feel like a God. I can’t wait until I’m able to read my opponent well, consistently land combos, learn how to kara, etc.
I watched some of your videos on Youtube (Tebbo). The cab you guys play on is awesome (shoutouts to 10deep).
The input method I mentioned make it easier to buffer consecutive charge moves, and it’s a must learn if you want to do Urien’s Tackle-Tackle-Headbutt, Remy’s Sonic Machinegun and Q’s C&DB->Double Dash Punch juggle.
Focus on combos and execution for now, so that when it’s real match time it’ll be the last thing you worry about. Reading and whatnot will come with experience.
I’ve been hitting the juggle pretty consistently. When I don’t get it, I know what I did wrong.
Seriously, thanks to the both of you so much. Every time I get the juggle I feel like I’m the best.
If I keep at it, it’ll become second nature in no time.
oh yeah its a cool cab. yeah that was from a while ago now (unfortunately). 10deep is a skating company isn’t it? i think.
its been probably like 2/3rds or 3/4s of a year since then. when i first started playing there i was tragically bad. from a combination of just not being good and playing too much online. since then i stopped playing on ggpo entirely and only play on OE here and there if flare/diaperbom feel like playing a few rounds. or goofing around with dander while complaining about jabs in sf4.
i just checked and boner, you’re from ohio. was gonna say you should just send flare a pm and go there. i missed meeting keninblack last time because i discovered my license had expired and didnt feel like chancing the $500ish ticket if i was pulled over for anything.
pretty much everything is satisfying in 3S but yeah the juggle system and the finesse required for some juggles is just really good. and the pay off for difficult combos is well worth spending the time to become good at them.
10deep is a “street wear” company, not sure if there’s a difference between that or not.
I’m going to stick with online until I routinely start going to my local gatherings (I don’t have a car/license, so getting rides is annoying). It turns out a couple people DO play 3S, so that got me pretty stoked.
Yeah, Ohio sucks. I didn’t even know there was a scene here until 2011.
That’s why I like it. You have to actually work for your wins.
i honestly thought you were referring to 90% of the people on OE. because that pretty much describes them. you can’t play mindgames with that which has no mind.
my personal favorite OE mindgame that I have witnessed:
this Ken player who jumped in and then did EX shoryuken right in front of the other guy. he did this 3 times and the other dude got hit every time. fourth time he jumped in, the guy was blocking. so the Ken player taunted right in front of him, then activated SA3. he got hit by that too.
It’s understandable, throwing = a huge chunk of Urien’s gameplay. Just gotta keep playing and get a better feel for your opponents so you don’t get baited out yourself.
i wouldnt worry about having a charge when you’re just learning the game/urien.
because honestly the only times you’re going to really be using tackle or headbutt are out of low fierce. for a while. once you have the timing down better can tackle from his target combo and stuff. but i don’t think that’s at all necessary. the only really necessary charge combo is off his low fierce, because otherwise you’re just not capitalizing on it. and dont think that means you have to always do TTH. go for stuff like low fierce xx ex headbutt, tackle. or whatever else you can consistently get.
you’re much better off having a very good grasp of the speed, range and hitboxes on his normals. low fierce gives you time to charge.
3S is a big game. and unless you are terminally ill, you have a long time to figure it out and get the hang of stuff. imho you’re better off taking very small steps and really drilling stuff into your head. there’s too much to learn for someone to just dive in and try to absorb it all.
