Half the time demon flip doesn’t come out anyway, so I’ll stick to randomly using it for mix-ups.
I only SA1 if I hit-confirm from a tackle or if I know what’s coming (For instance, I SA1’d a Q’s rush punch because he kept randomly throwing them out).
yea thats good. dont want you to fall into the trap of relying on wake up supers. cr jab jab super is good. also if you hit a jump rh you can have a little bit of time to confirm into sa1.
Demon flip pressure is a legit tactic, but you need to understand why it works. There are 3 different flip attacks timing - early, mid and late. Each are parried differently and each have different uses. Early stops jumps and will beat reversals. Mid is good for follow up pressure and late beats parries intended for the first two. You also need to throw empty flips in there to get throw pressure and grounded parries.
Oh yeah, I got over doing that very quickly. Thank you, I didn’t know about cr. jab jab or about the jump rh. I usually just cr. fierce into lk. tackle, which obviously one would catch onto.
Early, mid and late as in lk = early, mk = mid and late = hk? Or is it when I, myself, press the button? (I.e. a late dive kick)
(I’m not sure whether or not this goes into Regional Matchmaking since I’m not trying to set anything up.)
Anyone tried 3S at Japan Arcade? It could just be me, but the sticks didn’t feel right, as in they didn’t feel like they were in good shape. The 2p stick felt unresponsive and the 1p stick was slightly better, not by much though. You have to yank the stick for a dash, couldn’t super properly, just feels weird, etc. And I play on some cheap-o stick and have zero problems. I’m wondering what your experiences were of 3S at Japan Arcade if you’ve gone there recently.
That’s the closest arcade to me. 20 minute trip through bus+metro. I’d like to know if I should just to settle for it ( ) or if there’s some hidden arcade in LA I might not know about. I checked out the Pacific South section, but no luck. Hoping for some advice.
I live a good 15-20 minutes away from Japan Arcade via Metrotrail, and I haven’t been there in months, solely because I don’t want to go there to play 3rd Strike. The American cabs are shit, and the Versus cab is reportedly starting to have crummy sticks.
if you care you can always bring it up to someone in charge. and if you have a community, ask people to pitch in to replace the sticks. they don’t cost much.
I’d ask this in the Urien section but it seems kind of dead, with the latest reply to any thread being in January.
Tips on how to hit Trial 3? cr. fierce, forward tackle, ex tackle, forward tackle?
When I try EX tackling, I always end up with the forward command normal.
cr.HP -> hold back -> forward, back+MK -> forward+KK -> hold back when EX Tackle comes out -> f+MK
imo you don’t really need to do this considering how lenient the timing is between the first MK Tackle and EX Tackle, but if you’re having trouble then try the way I mentioned. Practicing this method of input will also help prepare you for Tackle->Tackle->Headbutt.
you have more time than you think you do most likely. ex tackle is extremely quick, so you can do it really late and it’ll connect fine. and since it lasts so long, you have plenty of time to be charging the last tackle during it.
were you doing it in the corner? (just being sure)
tackle combos are tricky until you’re really comfy with how the charging feels in 3S.
but once you get the hang of it, you will be very pleased with yourself.
Going with what Tebbo said, it’s actually preferred that you do the EX Tackle kind of late, otherwise the 2nd hit will end up whiffing if you do it too early.
EDIT: …or was that just for cr.HP->EX Tackle->Tackle? I forget, it’s early. ;T
i dont know if itll ever miss if they’re in the corner. the second hit that is. at least ive never missed it and im not trying to do it late or anything. but could be.
for doing it like outside the corner and using it to push them into the corner from like half a stage away, yeah the first hit has to be really late or the second hit whiffs once they’re in the corner.
I know that cr.HP->EX Tackle has to be done late, otherwise the opponent is too high and the 2nd hit misses. I forget if it’s the same for Tackle->EX Tackle->Tackle
Yeah, I’m doing it in the corner (I haven’t tried anything you guys suggested yet, just woke up from a nap).
I’ve been doing hold back, cr. fierce, forward tackle, hold back, EX tackle.
Again, every single time his command MK comes out and I have not once been able to get the EX.
I’ll review what you guys suggested and report back later. Thanks for all the information.
This method is the only way I could get the EX tackle to even come out. That, plus you two explaining I have more time to charge it helped out a lot. I hit the juggle 4-5 times (didn’t get the third tackle in because I was too surprised/stoked that I even got the EX tackle to come out, let alone hit both times).
You guys rule, thanks.
Kinda sucks I have no one in my community to play with (I mean, I’m sure there are people but they’re too busy with KOF13, SF4, etc). I actually got laughed at when I asked if anyone still played 3S on my scene’s community page on FB. Ohio sucks.
In actual matches, you can substitute the last MK Tackle with HK Tackle. You’ll have more than enough time to be able to charge it, and you’ll do more damage. Good job, though. I remember I was the same way when I was finally able to do the dash-up headbutt Unblockable.
Holy shit, I just got my first rage quit ever using Urien.
Dude picked Ken, won the first round.
Second round, I won by using Aegis and cr.hp.
He quit as soon as the KO popped up. He probably would have won the 3rd round, my Urien is awful.
