how effective is c.short, fierce shoryuken XX SA3 ?
0
to say that it’s effectiveness is 0 would be stupid.
cr short XX fierce SRK XX SA3 is effective. Not the best thing to do though.
quick notes:
-you do the above combo when you think your opponent is going to parry the short and attempt a quick punish. In this case, you’re better off with the cr jab, which they can parry high or low.
-you do a fierce uppercut instead of the strong because if the fierce uppercut hits, you can cancel it into the super on reaction. If you were to do it with a strong uppercut, and they block/parry it, you cant tell whether the strong uppercut hit or not.
-the combo doesnt do much damage. But take whatever you can get.
Perhaps 0 was a -slight- exaggeration, but 1/100 doesn’t get the point across as clearly. If you’re going for a combo, you’re not expecting them to magically parry a certain part of it. The short is too fast to hit confirm anything on its own, so you’re going to have to commit to the fierce DP which leaves you very vulnerable if blocked. If you know the low short is going to hit, there’s no reason to use the fierce DP (since it lowers the damage on the combo). If you don’t know it’s going to hit, just do two or three low shorts (depending on character) to confirm a hit, then go into super. Better damage if it hits and safe if it’s blocked. If you wanna just randomly poke with short on the hopes that it will be parried, you can just cancel into super if it does get parried to hopefully punish their counter attack. Why would you do that, though? Ken’s basics are so effective, there’s no reason to create nonsensical hypothetical situations where a strange combo might end up being useful. In general, low short into fierce DP into super is useless.
Now regarding the technique of “hit confirming”, I suppose thats why people LINK the cr.strong to SA3 instead of cancelling it?
Yet, I’ve often tried doing QCFx2 after knowing the cr.strong connected, but no SA3, now apart from the fact that my execution could be a tad off, is it possible that I did it too early?
Also, do Ken players link standing strong into SA3?
That’s exactly why people link off the low strong instead of canceling, yes. As an added bonus, the low strong has very good priority on it, so you have a good chance of beating a poke if you throw it out, and Shippu’s range allows you to still link it into the super.
If you’re doing QCFx2+K after the low strong and you’re not getting the super, then yeah, you’re probably doing it after the buffering point, but before it’s completely finished recovering. That’s definitely better than doing it too late and getting the super blocked, though. =)
You -can- link Shippu after standing strong, but the window is noticeably smaller (I’d guess only one or two frames of leeway). Also, the standing strong has less range than the low strong, and you can always just do strong, fierce and then cancel that into super if it hits.
Actually, Ken’s neutral throw doesnt deal much stun
All shoto’s back throws do the most
uhh…i’m 99% sure he’s talking about the far strong…
Oh? He didn’t specify. Yeah, far strong is pretty easy to link into super. I find it easier than low strong, actually. Not as easy to set up, though. I was, of course, talking about close strong in my post. Hope that clears up any potential confusion.
…
does kens forward + hold rh have any use? or is it just to fake a roundhouse? and if a guy tries to jump in at me when he’s in the corner and i dp him, can i do another dp?
Yes, yes and yes.
I wouldn’t use it alot. But it can be useful to fake someone into poking. You can immediately dp them. Not a safe tactic but then again, the only thing that seems safe is to have ken c.strong all day. Whether you like to be flashy or technical, it all depends on your style.
cant stress this enough, but in the corner shoryuken, shoryuken doesnt work on everybody. Except for doug
maybe i’m kinda slow on the uptake, but is the timing on the Dreamcast different from the arcade? i swear the buffer window seems shorter on everything.
Yes, it’s different.
Did anybody else notice how awesomely hilarious this post is?
I don’t know if it’s a joke or seriously a player asking a question. The only thing I’m sure of is HK rock you!
Hk slang. Didn’t you know most of cantonese is slang???
I like laughing at people who speak funny talking English…
Any suggestion’s on what to do then i.e what to use for Anti-Air instead of uppercuts
parry
lp
mp
dash back
dash forward and cross up
jump straight up with mk/hk…
I don’t understand when I saw some KOvsDaigo matches Daigo would always parry/block dive kicks or whatever, but never shoryuken. why not? I mean, a srk will out-prioritize a dive kick. it’s not like KO could parry a srk if he’s dive kicking you. so why not? is it because resetting your opponent is better or something?
