3S: Ken Questions

and srk is dangerous if yun doesnt do dive kick and parries the srk

Actually, they would TRADE. (Although I swear I’ve seen Dive Kicks beating out SRK cleanly but not sure) Plus, Daigo doesn’t have to risk doing the SRK when he can just block/parry it then possible tech throw, which is faster reaction than doing SRK. Also, what if KO does short Dive Kick, and Daigo SRKs only to find out that he whiffs, then KO would punish him.

sorry for the newbie question, but how do you guys play footsie, and what moves shouldnt i abuse? besides the shoryuken and hadouken

edit: who uses ken at a high level? just wanna see some match vids, ive seen daigo, are there any other players who play ken at a high level?

just watch ken movies, usually they are pretty good… and dont abuse hadouken… it sux coz u can parry it easily… and only use srk in combos as in strong, fierce xx (jab) srk (if in corner another jab srk

are there any other techniques in 3s besides kara throws? what are his bnbs? is it crouching lk lk hurricane kick? are there any other besides cr. mk. hurricane kick, just seems like most opp. would parry the mk if i abuse it too much

You dont want to get in the habit of trying to land x BnB combo the whole match rather, mixing up Ken’s low forward, low strong, UOH, crossing up with forward, learning and using kara throw set up’s and landing his strong fierce target combo’s.Using patterns in 3s will get you parried and punished so try not to abuse certain pokes instead mixing them up not to get predictable.Oh and about “other techniques in 3s” there is an article here on the site on how to use Option Select Defense in you strategy.

hrruicane kick is really bad with ken =/ except for the EX hurricane…

and try to get c.forward xx jab srk, thats pretty good if u have no meter… and strong-fierce link xx jab srk is always pretty damaging

thanks for the tips seoi and doom, this is a stupid question but I have to ask it anyways what is the button legend? I mean I’m used to the referring the buttons to lp, mp, hp and lk, mk , hk, how would you call them ?

i usually call them lp and stuff as well… but heres a different way…

lp = jab
mp = strong
hp = fierce

lk = short
mk = forward
hk = roundhouse

Im new here and im looking for any sf3 combo videos for ken, or if you know where there are some for other characters aswell that is fine. please help me out thanx.

The EX-hurricane is only useful for knocking your opponent out of the air, then if your opponent is in the corner, you can juggle with 2 x jab DPs (kara DP if necessary to get the extra range).

Commenting on the MP, HP -> SA3. Personally it’s better to do MP, HP, Hadouken -> SA3 since the hadouken gives you more reaction time for the SA3, plus it does the same damage as if you did without the hadouken.

Don’t forget to abuse low LK, low LP, low, LK -> SA3 … catches a lot of people out.

RyU_UnLeAsHeD, those combos described above are used quite often, and imo worth learning. Also, go and find mopreme’s link encyclopedia video, and you’ll see tons of horrible links Ken can achieve with SA3. :evil:

Wrong. ex hurricane actually does a lot of damage on the ground. And it deals good stun.

and Wrong, you cant always juggle an ex hurricane with a shoryuken. Depends on how many hits the hurricane did

Wrong. Adding the fireball does less damage.
Wrong. You’re an idiot if you need the fireball as extra reaction time. What if they block it? YOu still do the fireball? That’s stupid. THey’ll parry the fireball and then you get punished.

But, it is generally better to add the fireball in there if you already see them eating the strong and fierce. Because you get a tiny bit of meter for it. It does a little bit less damage though. Just a bit.
So if you’ve got 3 full meters (or 2 and 8/10’s of meter), do strong -> fierce XX super. If you’ve got less than that, do it with a fireball.

adding the fireball does 1 point less of damage. buffering is easier without the fireball, but that means you need to know how to buffer. adding fireball is purely aesthetics for me :smiley:
