3s Junkies Podcast - Ep1 w/ pherai, EricxChin, Yuuki Spencer

Good stuff. Just when I thought that Pherai disappeared after the old IPW podcasts kinda dried up we have a new podcast! Its funny how there used to be so many people into this game and they mostly all just dropped off after SF4 came out. I have a 3S board and a cab open to anyone who happens to roll through Grass Valley, Ca (about 1hr north of Sac up i-80).

Incredible post guys, just awesome. 3S is back yes!

Badass. Love hearing about 3s, all the time <3

sop fellas

Next episode we’re gonna bring on Ryan aka let blood run. We’ve already got a bunch of stuff planned to talk about with him, but just in case anyone has any burning questions they’ve always wanted to ask the foreigner with the highest danisen ranking, post up and we will try to get to all of them in the episode.

and as always, thanks to everyone who listened, and is keeping up with this podcast, and this great game!

Does Ryan still use Urien?

How loud is Nuki? Also at Game Versus, were you (Ryan) getting recognized after ranking up? Sorry for the dumb latter question.

I’ll just answer here, Ryan uses Choon Ri now, and tries to play Q

So this is a great opportunity for aspiring Chun players! He also has a sick Dudley :wasted:

Please ask Ryan if he has any stories, rumors or details about Thanatos (Oro player).

really sick dudley right now

I’d be really interested to hear his perspective on Chun vs Ryu. Like what kind of things he as the chun player is worried about or what he finds the best way to deal with Ryu is. It’s always useful to hear the flipside of a matchup.

Thanks again for doing this pherai (and everyone else involved of course)

props to you guys for doing this. ask him to share even more stories of his experiences in japan. those stories are just too good

i wish there was a written transcript

Episode 2 recording now… Guest letbloodrun… Have it up in a few days…

Honest question. There a reason for the written part. If you can give me a legit reason then I will

hearing impaired 3s players, also the lazy people like me who rather read then download something. but do it for the hearing impaired!!!

Didn’t just finish… but we got about a good 2 hours of solid content for you guys so stay tuned. Remember send your questions to the thread for later discussions.

In all honesty it would take to long to make a written transcript of a 2 hour cast. I’m sorry man.

hahaha, I had never considered the hearing impaired. I appreciate you bringing it up and being interested in it. Maybe in the future its a possibility, but at the moment we just do these for fun and typing out transcripts for 1-2 hour podcasts is beyond the amount of effort I’m willing to put in to this project for the small extra number of people who would benefit from it. I feel bad saying tough luck, but its just a huge extra effort. If there’s an easier way to do it than simply listening and typing out what I hear I’m open to suggestions, or if someone out there could volunteer to help us out, we’ll give you a shoutout on the podcast!

Nice! Thanks for these podcasts. Look forward to many more.

Q intro gdlk. Listening in now!

EDIT: Finished up. As I was listening I got to play some games on ggpo with yuuki, needless to say I got thoroughly bodied but still excited for the podcast and 3soe!

I’d like to hear more about the Japan 3s scene and Japan stories in general. As far as guests go, I vote for fubarduck or mopreme. Maybe just cuz I rep TX :stuck_out_tongue:

A question if you guys have time for it: In Japan Makoto is considered top-tier, and in the US she’s considered high. What exactly makes this difference? I’m sure it’s player skill, but is it something specific like hayate cancelling or kara-karakusa consistently? Something broad like defense, parrying, or spacing properly? Or does she just require more skill/experience to be great with? (Which the japanese obviously have.) Thanks!
