When it comes to the tournament base, it’s really fucking stale. Look at the past 4 years of evo.
People are tired of it. Play new games.
As long as Tougeki has 3s, it will be alive. Matsuda and KSK fight hard, even giving up monetary gains for a game that they love to get it on the roster. I have faith that it will be on the roster next year, and will try to make it to Japan again.
Being in Japan showed me how much people love 3s, if it leaves SBO, there will still be Coop Cup, Hikone Cup and other nationals. 3s I know for a FACT will never die in Japan and as long as I know that, I will continue to play 3s.

In any case, 2v2 doesn’t sound so bad, 3v3 is a bit difficult for a side tournament, since people will be walking around and shit. Also cuts down on the hassle of finding 2 other people to team up with, since all you need is one buddy.

It takes more than a game being new to make it worth playing. A lot of these new games aren’t even really new, just old games masked with minor tweaks.
I need to make it out to Denjin. It appears that it is the mecca for 3s in the states.

That’s why I still play 3S, even though the 3S scene in my area just straight up died when SF4 came out.
I am stuck with playing the CPU and no human comp since everyone here is still stuck on SF4’s balls.
GGPO / 2DF are not an option since my internet sucks shit.
But I still have more fun playing the CPU in 3S than playing SF4 in general.

Yang players can compete in tourneys easily. Dude is Ken except he can do low forward super whenever he wants.

True…I guess we couldn’t expect a scene to truly grow competitively just by saying “hey guys SF is easy to play now”. It just gets a bunch of random mother fuckers from other games thinking they’re leet shit. Which is fine they can go think that but in the end we all know that people should really know their shit instead of just thinking they’ve already found everything there is to know. People think they got shit figured out in SFIV and beat their chests n shit talking about how wonderful they are when they really don’t know anything at all. These people that have potential but in the long run are just going to get rocked. I picked Viper on purpose in SFIV because I thought it would help me up my mental game in SF but all it did was make me realize I’m just setting myself up to lose to easier shit. Like not even on a 3S Chun easier level because I think she’s more difficult to play than most of the crap people spam in order to win in SFIV. Daigo isn’t quite the hype he used to be in SFIV anymore. There’s just too many scrubby gaps in the game for me to really think he’s clutching stuff out all the time anymore. It’s like if Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta could just tone himself down to Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta to beat everyone at a tournament. That’s SFIV.
In any event…I’m playing Tekken 6 and hope to play some 3rd Strike with you guys at the next Evo. Hope Super SFIV is less scrubby.
I know what will solve everyone’s woes. Play HNK. That game never got a chance here.

Nica K.O your yang is god like btw. But again everyone who says 3s sucks is because they’ve never played it or any real fighting game they just play SF4. Alot of people that say this are just repeating what other people say. Even listen to gootecks podcast his first podcast with Pyrolee is about their trip to SBO and all the new shit they learned. Then SF4 comes out they say it’s dead and they figured everything out. The only reason top level players claim 3s is dead is because they are making money on SF4. More power too them, but when we get bodied again by Japan i will expect a reason, because we just don’t know…yet
Most of the top players here that think 3s is lame are still considered barely mediocre players compared to Japanese 3s top players. Just a self defense mechanism I’m thinking. I can’t win, therefore it’s the game’s fault.
Then you get the players who onced like the game and realized they could never really excell in it so it’s spontaneously now a bad game. Bunch of old veteran scrubs. I’m terrible at Marvel so I guess I should call it a bad game to try and save face, lol.
3s was quite dead at EVO.
I think I was the only guy with a setup after day 1, and I had to carry a fucking sign around that said “FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WILL SOMEONE PLAY THIRD STRIKE WITH ME” in order to find the two players that would.
I picked up Third Strike Friday at EVO, and learned a few basics. It was a really fun game, and I was sorry to have to beg/plead to have people play it with me, but it really comes down to people wanting to play or not. If people want to play they will, and if they don’t it will die quietly. What’s the point of debating it? If you want to see Third Strike played, play it, get your friends to play it, enter or host some tourneys for it. Anything short of that doesn’t mean shit. Talking about it on the forums won’t make the guys running EVO include it, solid numbers will.
And Marvel will never die!

Lmao, well, you’re right and people are doing this. Just look at the recent denjin tourney that took place…good amount of new guys picking up the game recently. So there are new players resurfacing and keeping things fresh in the scene to not let it devolve as the years go on.
The reason why people are debating it is because EVO most likely won’t have enough space/time for so many damn games especially with new ones popping up recently. The other thing is people love to hate on 3s :wgrin:
Also, concerning why its “dying.” The regular known top players don’t bother to play anymore so people are saying OH ITS DEAD…just because people like wong think it’s a better time investment in the long run to get into SFIV for america. Doesn’t mean that in general top players have dropped it.

I disagree with you about the SF IV community though. Fuck SF IV and its community. Scrub + Scrub mentality. Before SFIV, you didn’t have people hugging Daigo’s nuts, even after the full parry, you didn’t have people asking for his autographs and taking his picture all the time, and before SF IV, you didn’t have a million scrubs calling everybody who’s good a “pro”.
