That’s interesting… It’s probably because I grew up playing Ken (casually, though) and just feel totally at home with that sort of character, but if I was ever in a pinch I’d always just bring out Ken. I played much more seriously with Makoto (I didn’t even practice with Ken) but when the shit hit the fan I was fucked. :wasted:
I couldn’t toy with the opponent as well, or respond to a change in pace or strategy very well. As such, I found it really hard to use her against Yun, whereas with Ken I’d just do whatever came naturally and win.
Wow, it’s interesting to see Makoto so high up. I’m sure that when I first started to play as her ages ago, she was unpopular and often ignored. She was seen kind of like Remy…
I guess people have just figured out some more stuff in the meantime. The thing with tier lists is that I can’t help but feel that they’re lead by popularity a little too much. What I mean by that is that if people hear that a certain character is top tier they’ll all start to use him/her and consequently discover more and more stuff, thus solidifying his or her position. Meanwhile, the characters ranked bottom will be mainly ignored and less things (if any at all) will be discovered.
So all it takes is for a certain character to get “discovered” first, perhaps through having some obvious tricks, and they’ll have like an accelerated growth - it’s kinda like getting loads of scientists on a project - the more you have working on it the faster progress and understanding will increase.
but for me it really doesnt matter who’s using the top tier or who is using a low tier… i have seen a q player beasting many yun players… or an ibuki player beasting a chun player… its really up to who is playing, tho top tiers have many move advantage.
Tiers are not about who beats who. It is rather about consistency. Sure Necro/Remy/Hugo etc can beast the hell out of Chun Li if played well. But will they be able to do that next round or vs the next Chun Li/Ken/Yun/Makoto. Chances ares the answer is no. Tiers are also almost always applied to a high level tournament environment. Look at which characters are constantly winners for a reason.
