Ohh, good observation. The chains/links/combinations are pretty spot on. Makes you wonder…
no it doesn’t lol.
Well virtually anything when it comes to Ono and his clowns are not out of the realm of possibility. However, I don’t think they disected a weird fan made passion project just to get ideas. I mean if they did, Capcom is really desperate.
Do not understand this at all. Ono and his clowns? You mean the company Capcom and Dimps or whoever they work with to outsource?
Capcom has done chains and links in combination before, already, many years ago. Remember that game Vampire that everyone seems to love but hasn’t played.
None of what you said determines whether or not a game is “balanced”, though. Look at the Tekken games, or Guilty Gear X2 #Reload(minus Eddie). Even the Virtua Fighter series has a ton of heavy hitting juggles, but it’s lauded as arguably the most balanced series ever. A balanced fighting game is when everyone has a shot at winning with equal footing. If there are tiers in a balanced game, it’s only because “X has slightly easier ways of doing shit than Y”.
Huh? I was just saying that implying what Dander said about Hugo sharing the same combos from SFxT is probably mere coincidence. What I mean by Ono and his clowns is him and his dev team, who seem to think every idea that is dropped is supposed to stick, ‘tis all.
Also, while Vampire is a game that is talked about by many and shelved years ago for some, it’s a game that is played every Friday by my pals and I. So we certainly have not have not forgotten.
Dander made a joke, I guess you made a joke, then I made a joking remark because it doesn’t make you wonder. in a combo heavy system using magic series chaining you’re going to end up with stuff like that. it’s an obvious direction and grapplers wouldn’t work if they had no way to combo into tag or combo from a tag in. I don’t know what ‘supposed to stick’ means. Really I have no idea what you’re even getting at.
but on topic, 4th strike is the ugliest thing i’ve ever seen. 1 or 2 things are solid ideas but generally it’s just stupid as shit looking.
cool that you play vampire weekly.
From my perspective, there are many things to consider when a character is top-tier in a fighting game. For example:
1.The damage output on his/her moves and supers.
2. How fast a player can learn these moves or master their situational uses.
3. Variety and priority of the moves.
4. How many of the stuff you do are considered somewhat “safe” without much risk.
5. Poke range, speed and priority.
6. Unique or character specific set ups which vary for every fighting game.
A totally “balanced” game whould propably give all the characters an easy combo system, equal priority, similar speed or pokes and the same number of moves. But, is that really interesting and inspiring?
In the end, it’s what people feel as “acceptable”. Tekken series, Virtual Fighter, 3rd Strike may not look “balanced” and there are many valid arguments which prove they are not. However, they feel “acceptable”. 4th Strike does not.
Haha. The “stick” remark really comes from Capcom’s design and business choices as of late, SFxT anyone? But I agree with the 4th Strike it’s far to zany for my tastes. One of my favorite things about 3S is even when for example Makoto is doing a 100% combo it does not look all that crazy, this is kinda off-the-wall.
They made 345980 versions of ssf4 and even teamed up with a rival company instead of taking their time to make another 3s. I’d say they’re kind of desperate.
OH ok I see what you mean by trying until something sticks.
Eh but that’s more because people keep asking for it so it’s in their interest to keep changing it.
People keep screaming for changes and changing it keeps it fresh + can sell it. It’s really just being business smart unfortunately
I don’t really blame them. Teaming up with Namco was pretty brilliant imho. Benefits Tekken to have the exposure over here in the states. Get’s people interested in TTT2, just like the future Tekken x SF will probably get some Tekken guys to at least take a look at SF more seriously.
I’d really like to see a new franchise though, but that’s totally pointless and an unnecessary risk. Maybe in a few years they’ll do that. But it would be interesting to see what some of the current guys at Capcom can come up with when they have no tethers to a specific franchise and style.
I’d much rather see the Dimps guys (the REAL devs for SF4 and SFxTK) go out and make a new franchise instead of listening to some retard in a Blanka costume. The last time they made a fighter that didn’t involve Capcom was the Rumble Fish franchise, and those are some damn good games.
Rumble Fish 2 not receiving a console release…Sega fucked that up so hard.
So you know, you can’t say I’m a complete asshole now I guess, Rumble Fish 2 is emulated on Demul and it runs at 60FPS. Damn good game.
Yeah or that. I always wanted to try Rumble Fish.
That sounds pretty dope. Gonna have to look into it, once I actually get a stick for myself. Fighting games are not fun on the d-pad.
If you have a decent PC that can run Crysis on medium settings than it should run no problem.
Oh yeah some Trivia: Nerd Josh is a fan of Rumble Fish 2, I hooked him up with the Rom for it, no idea if he’s playing it now considering the hype from Cross Assault, but I would hope he’d run some sort of Rumble Fish 2 stream or something.
Rumble Fish was a lot of fun. They had an offense and defense bar, one’s for Supers/Guard Break and the other’s for counters(it’s been a bit since I played, I might be wrong). Fill both bars and you get to use a Max Super-type move that does beefy damage…kinda like an SF4 Ultra but not nearly as stupid in concept. Everything seemed to work out well for this game. The only problem I could think of was the small cast of characters.
They added a few more characters to RF2(including Sheryl and Hazama), altered the offense/defense bars for more usage and tweaked the characters, but it never got a console release because of some dispute between Sega and Sammy.
Sega is pretty high up there when it comes to fucking up console releases, such as VF5. They’re correcting that error now, but waaaay too late.
For those curious to try 4th strike, Jedoposum had posted links to the japanese forum that discussed it.
I downloaded a couple files from there as they looked like the latest ones, but I never bothered trying them,
They’re just ips patch files, I’m not sure on which romfile you should use them, but I’d say try on rom 10 as it used to have some prog data.
Anyway there are a couple .txt files in the zips as well, I fail to read it, but maybe someone can.
Remember that the romset changed a while back, and these patches should work on the old romset, not the newer one.
Enjoy, and tell me if it works, I’m curious.
