Dude, did you forget to capitalize your “I” when referring to yourself? Not to mention the repeat failing of capitalizing for every new sentence. Unacceptable. F- in red ink.
Honestly, if I see a dude pick a bad super I assume that he’s trolling/messing around/or just new. I’ll play him that one match but if he continues to use the wrong one that’s when I get a little annoyed. If they immediately pick Sean/Twelve then I refuse to take them seriously. Too many shit Elena players out there.
think about it this way. would you do this offline in person with someone you do not know?
if you say you would you’re either full of shit or extremely arrogant and probably a dick.
it is a handicap. and it is rude. if you choose a handicap before knowing your opponent, you’re making assumptions about skill and/or you don’t care (in both cases you’re being a dick).
i’m plenty guilty of this (when i played on live) but i’m not confused as to why people are bugged by it.
it’s pretty obvious to anyone who isn’t autistic.
That reminds me the time I picked Gill on AntiShoto the first time I saw him in person. Didn’t mean any offense but later realized I was rude so I apologized later.
You can’t throw calculus at someone learning pre algebra and expect them to learn. Give them some geometry. Calling it rude because they get upset afterwards is just as bad as their play. The autism falls on the idiot that got upset because someone tried to play them at more their level. It’s a lack of awareness that easily translates to less knowledge regarding the situation. Don’t lose yourself on the metaphor. Skill is plainly apparent unless the other was playing below his own standards, as if to try and trick or use a trap on the opponent. That’s a minor form of sandbagging believe it or not. That whole “sandbagging” thing is a double edge sword that those on the lower end don’t like to admit to, but they’ll jump up at the opportunity to say that someone else is a dick. Women do this kind of shit and then complain that things aren’t made for women. Good shit. I say this as a sandbagger that doesn’t see the problem with dropping my 4 to 5 steps ahead “set ups”, and those aren’t even near my best, while playing against some loser that thinks holding down back means he wins more. He just wins again. The difference here is negligible, sure, but when you’re arguing for skill you need to stop considering that win means more skill. Like, for example, had I ever played Nuki at his fullest when I played him, I never would’ve understood just how good he actually was. He was not playing to his fullest, he was merely observing but that didn’t mean he wasn’t playing respectfully. He could see that although I could get in, I wouldn’t be able to do much to him without getting lucky. He owned me and he didn’t even need to play his grab/low forward game. I am thankful for that. Still, I know I’m in the minority.
I covered that.
That’d be tutoring the weaker player. That is respect on their part.
That’s totally acceptable when both players understand their relative positions. Basically both players should be challenging the other player, not challenging themselves. So if that means coming down a bit in intensity and STILL being a challenge to the other player, that’s fine. It’s when you intentionally handicapping yourself that you’re being a dick.
What would you think of Nuki if without saying anything he let you do 80% damage to him and THEN he started playing?
I don’t care who the guy is, you’d think he was a bit of a jackass and you’d feel vindicated for sure if you went on to win.
There isn’t more to say about it. It’s obvious. If people are telling you you’re a dick, you’re a dick.
Do whatever you need to tell yourself otherwise/feel ok about it anyway/take it as a compliment.
I’m not answering for Tebbo but if someone picks Sean, I see that as a troll. I truly doubt that anyone would pick him and think “Oh, he’s awesome. #1 character, gonna’ rep him at SBO.” No. Anyone who picks Sean or Twelve is going to troll. That’s just what they do. And they know that. Unless they’re new of course.
I’ll play a dude who picks Sean once, beat him, then if he continues I’m moving on. It’s pointless. It would be nice if Sean and Twelve were legit characters but they’re not. I don’t understand why the devs made Sean into Dan but that’s the direction they went with for whatever reason and that’s it.
To be fair, Sean can be pretty dope. Seen Chris G make 2nd at NEC with Sean beating Justin Wong, Nica, Exo, and Frankie3s with him. And most importantly, he’s fun to play with.
Maybe the developers wanted to fix the strength of Sean as a character in relation to Ken. According to the story he should not have been top tier in 2I.
Also his command dash shinanigans are fun to watch while they work.
I believe that a lot of the net-play Sean’s believe that Sean isn’t bad, because a bad Sean can get away with more than say, a bad Ibuki or Twelve can. The fact that I haven’t lost to a Sean with my main in months makes me feel like I’m actually improving, because there was a time when it happened regularly, but a lot of those Sean’s that used to beat me were also super laggy. I can absolutely see people using Sean, winning because of lag, and becoming convinced that Sean is better than “the tier list” says. In normal play, Sean’s axe kick is a free parry into punish. With a bad connection, the move becomes more viable.
I had some guy on eventhubs arguing with me the other week that ‘Sean is considered mid tier now, and Twelve was considered the worst character because his moves are super easy to parry’. I have super little experience fighting Twelve, but uh, I’m pretty sure Sean’s moves are way easier to parry. Am I wrong about that, serious question.
He’s at negative frame advantage on practically everything he does, some stuff even on hit so you wouldn’t even need to parry half the time, you could just anticipate it and super him.
