Okay, I called and talked to the a Gameworks manager who wasn’t IT. They were saying it usually runs 75 an hour for the theatre room rental. Of course we don’t have to rent the theatre room but it’s the most epic and it keeps out non participants. The owner said he would cut me a deal if I just give a date and estimate number of people. At 75 an hour for 11 hours is $825. The state won’t pay for it I’m guessing, so this guy better cut a good deal or Champaign is looking like the best bet.
We need at least 50 people just to cover $250. What shall we do?
Okay, I spoke to the manager. I can get it for $200 dollars all day on July the 12th. I would like to have at least 40 people confirmed to cover the rental. The more the better for bonus prizes and what not. I need to call the guy back in the next day or two to confirm, so I need a show hands fairly fast to see if it’s worth following thru. “IT” will be there too.
It would be good to have it here because it’s a good mid way point for everyone. If we have Tekken, Ohio will come.
so now that this is done i can say game on (and time to start practicing again, haa), and i can host some event here, granted that people dont trash my house
that front room in the pics can hold 2 tv’s, i have another room that could take 2 tv’s, and one more room that could have 1-2 tv’s but it is small
This rant became even more relavant today where a bolt of lightning crashed down a few hundered yards from my car. I’m driving and then for a good couple of seconds its just Electricity crashing down from as high as I could see with what I can only describe as some gasses shooting up in its wake. Probably one of the most amazing things I’ve seen in my life. It was like Zeus himself threw that one.
Mario - I can’t think of anything I’d be planning that far ahead for July 12 so I would say it’s a safe bet to count me in and of course I would try to drag a few others along like Gary or Clem (Deadpool).
Hey whats up Mario im glad you decided to talk to me before you threw the tourney, but that is cool. IM pretty sure we could of got if for cheaper. Anyways i should be there.
Deryck- I haven’t thrown it yet. I haven’t called the guy back to confirm. I want to make sure enough people are interested.
Indy- I was just going to mention Zeus as soon as I read the part about lightning. LOL. You can stop by my place on the way home from IUPUI for some games. I’ll be home at 5:30. You’ll need a stick though. I don’t have my phone on me, check PM.
Ray can tell you more about “IT”. I’ve only talked to “IT” once.
Okay, I’ve reserved the room. These are the games: Marvel ($10), 3s ($10), Turbo, Accent Core, CvS2 (these 3 will be 5$). I will throw Tekken ($5) if there is enough interest. I would also like to have Arcana Heart as well if folks are down. I am open to suggestions on what games people would like to see. I don’t care if it’s Clayfighter, if people want it we’ll have it :woot:.
Pricing- $7 entry; $5 with a setup (TV and or system with a tourney game). $5 general entry fee was just too low to cover the rental. We can’t guarantee that 40 people will show. I think the most we’ve ever had was 40 and that included the Smash players which I won’t be having as an event.
First off, its not Stephen King’s It. At least that was only fiction.
“It” is the new assistant GM over at Indy GW. Ever since it landed it has caused nothing but trouble for the Indy tourney/casual scene. It has taken great pleasure in wrecking our plans at every turn, and is easily slighted/angered.
Further resistance would lead to total destruction. See “Cloverfield” for greater clarification.
Monster=“It”
City=Fighting game scene
People=???
Learnslow: Mad Marvel casuals are a must. You and Chi-Town are going to make it to this right?
