SF4 feels like Street Fighter meets 3D, except all the good aspects of 3D are thrown out the window.
I will say 3s feels alot more natural and engaging.For instance we take Dudley who in sf4 feels a tad bit bogged downed and floaty.I play him in 3s and he feels quicker and crisp .In 3s even his normals seem to be very effective and my distancing and pacing has better rhythm and flow to them.My little brother who is an average beginner player in sf4 understands and plays sf3 waay better even he says its a better game. I understand its two very different engines but as a beginning player with some experience playing fighters I think sf3 is indeed a faster and crisper game even though its 10 years old.
I hate 4 when
A)I lose a lot
B) When I face mindless idiots, the game isn’t fun

Has nothing to do with feeling leet. I just don’t think the game is particularly good and I feel a lot of the people romanticizing the game weren’t around when it was at it’s peak popularity-wise.
Are you implying the Chun/Ken tournament dominance when the game picked up speed in America? If you are I don’t disagree, but I’d say it isn’t as applicable now, as it was then.

The speed at which combos occur in that game reminds me of Guitar Hero…on easy.

After playing 3SO, I realized how much 3S sucks. It can be really cool, but it usually isn’t. The game died (it DID die) for a reason.
Sf4 compared to SF3. Street Fighter 3 is like Fillet mingon were sf 4 is like Flanksteak. The flanksteak is REALLY good, its delicious and you like it but it doesn’t compare to the juicy prime cut that is street fighter 3. 3rd strike OE single handedly revived my interest and hype factor for fighting games. I actually WANT to play now and my enjoyment doesn’t feel forced or fake I genuinely enjoy the game. But Sf4 is by no means a bad game.
all i was saying was that street fighter **4 **purposely precedes (in the insignificant street fighter universe) street fighter 3 (story-wise), because capcom knew that they wanted to make a lead-in (for old and new fans who were turned off by the complexity of third strike) game to re-introduce the series. if this weren’t the case, which it is, then street fighter 4 would directly follow third strike. but they couldn’t do that, because street fighter 4 is less complex than third strike, and that would be moving backwards engine-wise. that’s why i said that street fighter 5–which will probably be more of a true successor to third strike (story-wise and engine wise)–will be a lot more fun and dynamic than street fighter 4. capcom is essentially saying, parry>focus attack. that’s why i’m interested to see what comes next. and incidentally, ono worked on third strike as well as sf4.
these new kids are hilarious too. mashing jab and short all day and trying to throw me out of everything from like half screen away and failing
