3rd Strike General Discussion Thread

For the record the times I beat Ryan at Hooters he was very very drunk. Ryan beat me soundly when we played FT10 and he was semi-sober. I’m certainly no good player (as evidenced by the beating Exo and NYC gave me at Summer Jam) but I love the game like all of you and I hope to see everyone keep supporting the game in any way possible. I’m definitely not rich but I’m gonna try to make it to as many events as possible for the foreseeable future. I feel it’s important to do that, to take what right now is a bunch of fractured scenes and turn it into one big US scene. we all love the game and that’s a good place to start from. In my current spot, what I can do is attend events, keep practicing, and bring along a couple CPS3 board if needed. I think for most of us, even if showing up and going 2-2 is all we can accomplish, we should start there and build on it.

I feel it’s especially important now btw. We’re at a point where east coast is putting forth some real effort to put on quality events, and I wanna be there to support that. If anyone else does the same, I’ll do my best to be there.

It’s trippy that you put it this way because it totally resonates with me. I hope I don’t explode from it being too much for me to handle.

I’m also not ashamed to admit that, being one of the few players I can recall were here and established when I first arrived, I always respected your presence. I also immensely respected that you managed your rhetoric to include the fact that you play Q as more than scorn at the idea of the prevalence of merit in a meta game for a game like 3s. You2beast, bro.

Japan talks as much shit as USA if not more. It’s just not in a public setting.

In a way, you kind of are getting what you wanted…

At this point, I’m pretty lethargic from pointing out your Republican 3S agenda.

Seriously though, you speak on everyone’s behalf on these forums. You spoke on Yi’s behalf, and when he came on to clarify his stance, you vomited your craziness at him too. How insane is that?

He himself said that he’s going to New York because Vanao was going down. Whether he’ll admit it to anyone after the fact is beyond me and the point of the matter. I can’t imagine how hard it is for you to live in this world considering you’ll pick at those two little sentences out of the whole thing.

I don’t think you guys realize that 5star called you guys Mongolia for a reason. Why do you think I keep bringing up the Genghis Khan reference? It all fits perfectly. The whole scene is now Mongolia 3s. Good day to you. You guys have created your own new age fascist regime!

On whose behalf have I spoken? Why am I still replying to you if all you do is lie to get out of the cross hairs? Why don’t you answer the question about whether or not you admitted to being a fag in the fightcade/ggpo chat?

I should be banned by tomorrow.

I can be quite brash to people who spew stupidity, as evidenced by this conversation.

You know there’s an edit button, right?

You had already answered your own question so I figured it was rhetorical to some degree. But I’ll bite.

On the topic of playing scrubs, why would I? I can direct them with much better advice, such as playing the CPU, watching videos to get an idea of how the character is generally played, and so on. My time is better served to doing other things, and their time is better spent in a manner where they can absorb information easier. If they have a decent understanding of the game and have potential and drive, I would play them for years on end.

On the topic of playing laggy people, your connection is god awful, but I still played you didn’t I? Of course, after a while I was quite bored as I realized you’re just not good enough of a player to bear the connection. I’ve done so with a handful of players from Japan, but generally I don’t dislike them for their online presence either.

I do idle quite a lot on GGPO/FC, but given that you’re on there 1/1000th of the time, how would you know how I operate? If you were to ask people who spend a decent amount of time on FC, they would tell you that I do everything that is expected of a person that is being an interactive and productive part of the community.

I don’t know if you consider me a top player, but through the context of the quote, I’ll assume so. I find myself to be a very reasonable person. Since you mentioned Yi and Pyro and the Mongolia bit, I’ll address that. Yi actually threatened to physically harm me years ago if I ever showed up to California. I’m not sure what the pretenses were for him to say it as it was so long ago, but back then I thought very little of it as well. The whole “Mongolia” thing is drivel, so why would I pay it any mind? Are you bewildered at the fact that I can discern what kind of comments I should take with severity and what I should completely ignore? I never liked Pyro (mostly) and FFA/Denjin/SoCal (a much, much, MUCH smaller amount) on SRK because of their hive-mind elitist attitude, but I would never let that translate to a personal dislike. I went to Boiler Room and shook Pyro’s hand, and he treated me as if none of this online thing ever existed. I met Yi at Fight Club and we’ve grown to understand that the person is much more mature and understanding than our online history.

With all that said, my general MO is that I reflect back what the person shows me. This has always been true. Whether it’s you, Louiscypher, Pyrolee, Ryan, Denjizz, or whomever else that has negatively contributed at one point or another to the community. But on the flipside, I have also treated with respect and continually helped out those who have shown respect and drive. If you’re worth my time, I’ll make time. If you aren’t, why would I waste my time?

You’re on there practically 24/7. And I find your “toxic” comments funny considering that you hang out with “toxic” people all the time on Fightcade.

Louis, you’ve carefully handcrafted that toxic environment for yourself over the past handful of years. We’ve already talked about this!

Within a region people are able to be nice/accepting.
Everyone I have met is nice. Nice as in, not a dickhead. They aren’t all just instantly the best of friends, but no one is intentionally trying to crush another persons ego. No one gave me free respect. I got enough wins and played well enough that people don’t want to spit on me and push me out the door.

I very much doubt that there are no differences in perceived strength by region in Japan. You don’t think guys from the Tokyo region think they’re better than dudes playing in Hokkaido? Please. That’s so incredibly naive. They’re humans just like us.

US doesn’t have a ‘problem’. Our ‘problem’ is that the country is massive and it isn’t a fair comparison to compare the US to Japan.
We play how we can and know how to play, that’s all.

On the topic of exo playing scrubs:
Exo has played with me more than he probably should have so… And he does point out things which are obvious but you sometimes just don’t recognize in your own play. Nica has done the same. Yuuki has also done the same. KOF®iend too. They may also be capable of being dicks but if you like the game and you’re trying to understand and play smarter they aren’t going to shit on you. If however you’re acting like something you aren’t, then yeah you deserve to be pooped on.

Louis is god awful considering he’s been playing for near 10 years

To clarify, I actually meant Nica vs Yuuki with Exo possibly putting in $$ for the winner because he’s a rich cool guy.

NY is contributing a lot to the community. You guys should show up; settle this Internet beef with hugs and kisses.

If we want those matches to exist, Yuuki would need to stop by NY, the most active scene with the best players.

SoCal is not that bad. Boiler is respectful and welcoming. A few of them even invited me several times and Larios is always uploading/streaming every week.

Duralath, that’s not something The Rock would say. He would “Just Bring it!” =D

Also, team 911 is so fucked up.

>.> I’m only like 1/4 the man The Rock is.

Nah in all fairness I’d do it. I just can’t guarantee a very exciting match. Also I’m out of practice.

But if NYC happens again I’ll definitely put my hat in down the road. After hearing about the experience and seeing the stream, it’d only be a disservice if I didn’t try to make my way out there.

I didn’t realize my high school year book photo was on the Internet. How embarrassing :frowning: thanks @Dander

good read

Agree 100%.

All this thread needs is that one guy talking cryptic shit about budweiser and the lakers for 20 posts. I don’t know why dander keeps saying hes going to get banned since I thought he was/is rather entertaining (even if the threat of physical violence in one of his posts was kinda lame). I’m also liking this bonding happening between louis and dander - they seem like a match made in heaven.
