3rd Strike General Discussion Thread

Characters you can C.HK 5 times after the initial C.HK in the corner are…

The 4 Women
Alex
Remy
Oro
Q
Necro
Yourself

The midscreen C.HK walk up C.HK dash HP Uppercut only works on Chun/Q/Elena.

I don’t mean to belittle anyone’s knowledge I just wanted to post this to avoid any confusion with anything is all.

Speaking of juggles, been trying to learn Yun, picked him up recently and don’t know the Genei Jin enders for anyone outside of the shotos (launcher, f.fierce, LP dash punch, right?).

I’ve seen what looks like stand fierce at the very end of GJ into what looks like FP shoulder, MP shoulder, forward fierce, and then a dash punch.

Anyone familiar with the enders?

You could just go with the the standard light dp into heavy once genei jin ends. Works with everyone but it’s damage is pretty shit and it puts you in a bad position.

Light dp into heavy dp? Not sure I follow. Haven’t seen that one. I’ve seen DP after palm, but I think that only works on certain characters?

Looking more for max juggle not so much for damage as much as meter. It seems like I’ve seen some enders give you just about a half bar for the next GJ.

Both work nicely, it does alter his playstyle a lot though. The big thing about SA1 is how much EX you get to work with, so you get a bunch of EX fireballs which is really useful in the groundgame (as well as the other EX moves, but EX hado is the big one). Being able to combo into the super is also nice, and parrying into EX donkeykick is always very satisfying.

SA3 sacrifices the ability to use EX moves at every turn for Denjin. You need to learn to set it up properly, but it’s very rewarding to do so. It’s also one of the supers that involve human interaction and mindgames at the moment you use it, because your opponent has to make a defensive read if they don’t want to be stunned. Because of this it’s not guaranteed at higher levels, but it does make for interesting interactions, and it’s very powerful at lower levels.

Try both, find out what you prefer: neutral game control and big punishes, or the setups and interactions Denjin gives. I personally prefer the former, but that’s a playstyle choice, and I have lost quite a few games to my local denjin player so I’m not going to downtalk SA3.

edit: I just realized you’re having a Q secondary. Said local SA3-Ryu also plays a mean Q. ARE YOU HIM

This is pretty much why part of me wants to use Ryu more while I’m in Japan (because Denjin online is kind of a crap shoot and I feel cheap using it), but the part of me that isn’t stupid knows I have no chance of mastering multiple characters and I should really stick to using mostly Dudley. I do like SA1 as well. EX joudan combos are weirdly satisfying to land.

I was kind of happy that my Makoto wasn’t doing as well as my Dudley the other day, because prior offline experience (mostly against Urien) had me losing outright with Dudley against much better players, but getting cheesy guess wins with Makoto. I’ve used Dudley a solid 4 or 5x as much as Makoto, so that kind of bums me out sometimes.

I’d also like to use Yun more, ug, why does 2/3 of the cast have to be so fun. I DID manage to do a bit better with Yang (me and whoever I played for the first hour or so kept switching characters on account of us being the only people there) against his Chun, reinforcing my belief that you can play Yang competently at not-too-far from the same level as your main without actually spending much time with Yang. I lost by a raw MP’s worth of health like 3 times in a row, was really bumming me out. He definitely wasn’t a Chun player though, because he kept letting me hit him with zenpou, which was a big help.

On the topic of ex and ryu:

ex is important for ryu but only for specific situations which often have multiple other solutions anyway (this is 3S). you almost always have enough for a single EX move. more than that has to do with the flow from round to round as opposed to within a single round imo.

how can you compare denjin and shinkuu quantitatively beyond super meter? they’re so radically different why even bother comparing that?
when you have a super which absolutely BREAKS your opponents momentum whether you stun them or not, ex becomes a let less critical imo.

i agree with what was said though. comparing them as if they’re both apples is sometimes confusing or leads you into bad modes of playing. think of them each as unique and you’ll see a lot more.

Is the Old videos of Sub Zero thread locked? I got a ‘your message needs to be approved by a moderator’ message

No. Every single member of SRK now has to be Verified before any new posts of theirs show up. You’re now Verified and good to go. brofist

thanks Preppy

As an addendum to this, you probably won’t Kanipan five times even if you can. Various more damaging enders exist depending on the character (usually ending in SSB or normal xx Jeppa).

I think the original question was about a different combo (there’s an extra crouch Strong before the Jeppa)

It’s pretty easy to land on Chun. As mentioned above, Elena’s the only other potential victim, though vs. Q you can do an equivalent combo that’s pretty simple: Kanipan x2 > walk-up t+Fwd xx Jeppa or cr.Str xx Jeppa (just walk instead of dashing… Q’s launch arc is so vertical).
There’s a couple of other characters against whom it’s possible to land miscreen Kanipan x2, but only simpler followups work.

New milestone for me: I’ve managed to do a basic midscreen genei jin combo for Yun(the shoulderspam-one), both starting from his target combo and from activate -> c.LK. For someone with self-proclaimed terrible execution, this is something I almost thought never would happen! Now to learn some corner combos and post-tenshin combos before I try to play Yun in real matches, get wrecked, and decide to go back to playing Ken again =V

Seriously though, bad execution is what has made me shy away from Yun in the first place. While I honestly don’t think his playstyle will fit me all that well in real matches, genei jin seems incredibly fun to play around with. Confirming into a full combo after activating genei jin was a great feeling.

Okay, that was todays little burst of joy/pride. =3

All good to know. I really need a stick at home, it’s hard to want to pay $70ish minimum for one when the last two I bought were those WWE sticks that were on clearance for $30. Granted, they needed like $25-30 worth of new parts…but also they weren’t used like the cheapest ones I’ve been able to find here.

For all Hayao fans, here is Hayao playing Hugo in USF4. Not to promote sf4 but I thought some Hugo players might be interested.

Hey retards, it’s Duckcanoe. Remember when I told you scrubs that SFV would have parries and you all ganged up on me and told me I was wrong?

Eating shit yet?

Louis, you’re a fucking scrub and I bodied you for free, it would have been MUCH worse if it was in person because then you wouldn’t be able to use lag tactics like you famously do. Be a man and leave this fucking website.

Ryan, you’re a pathetic feminine emotional bitch with 0 logic. I’m coming to Japan soon.

To the rest of you scrubs who talk shit and play like shit, you ever doubt me again and I will come see you too.

edit

Met MOV as SEAM2015. Apparently, he’s set up a new “gamer house” in Tokyo that’s helping players like Kindevu.

He’s also playing MKX on the side.

I can’t view this anymore. Did you delete it? :frowning:

Does anyone know if people are still playing this on xbox? I might get xbox live gold if the game is still alive.

Yes, quite a few players still playing. I would recommend it if you don’t have a good local scene or to play in your spare time.
