3rd Strike General Discussion Thread

When I tried PS2 composite on an hdtv it was horribly bad and laggy, so expect similar results with 3S. Shitty picture quality as well

I’ve played on one of those Viewlix-alternative cabinets they had in a Fukuoka arcade. The lag wasn’t that noticeable, but the monitor was widescreen so the picture quality was stretched and ugly as a result.

I believe those Vewlix cabinets run 3S emulated via Nesica on hardware with hdmi or VGA. CPS3 boards will experience major lag on and hdtv when running RGB or using some sort of video encoder

I don’t know who’d be interested in it at this point, but I’ve been trying to update the 3s Dudley wiki page on SRK. If anyone happens to have any suggestions such as formatting or whatever feel free to let me know.

I’ve not seen this combo in a match (ever I think) and was wondering if theres variations of the combo without the use of ex tengu? Sorry for the glitchy look of the game, I had to do the recording with the older version of FBA…

I’ve seen Oro players like Kuroda and Vanao do cl.MP->booger juggle->cl.MP->chicken->etc, but I’ve never seen it comboed into EX Tengu. Also the stun on that booger took me by surprise. lol

Sorry if I was unclear in the original post; I more meant combos / resets revolving around regular tengu. The stun is quite huge yeah, was surprised when I was toying around with the combo

edit:

This ones kinda intresting and i havent seen it too much either. Again sorry for the weird health bars and whatever other glitching is going on.

Seems like that reset works on a lot of the cast, even characters with a higher stun bar such as hugo.

Does anyone have any info on the Dudley/Ibuki match up? From what I’ve gathered from videos, f + MK confirm is a great tool against her, and you can Jet Upper her after her EX dragon kick, but that’s about it.

Which characters do you guys think have ā€œroom to grow.ā€ Any characters you think will move up in the tier lists, or has just about everything been found out and won’t really affect perception on the strength of characters?

Seems like Oro has been becoming more popular just based on what I’ve read here on SRK and seen in match vids.

Thing about 3rd Strike is that it’s top-heavy.

I want to say Yang and Akuma but I just don’t see them taking down Ken, Yun or Chun from the top.
I think Dudley (though I love him so) may be one of the characters that could move down.

I like Elena a lot and think she’s got a lot of merit going towards her.

You might be right on Oro but like I said: I think the list is too top-heavy.

Yeah, you’re right about the game being top heavy. I guess now it’s just a discussion about which characters are underneath Chun, Yun, and Ken.
These Urien rkf combos have me thinking he might be getting stronger as a character though.

I was under your sister last night

Back in Japan. A bad players opinion on Nesica strike, from playing arcade mode with Makoto: It’s ugly (and most of my experience is 3SO which is mostly fine to me), and it’s not unplayable (probably close to 3SO, because I wasn’t having trouble getting the HP followup to fukiage like when I went from 3SO to CPS3), but it’s definitely a little off. So, for better players, yeah, I’d wager it’s pretty bad. And twice as expensive as usual. 3 rounds though, I guess that’s something kinda.

Koenji cube’s 3s cab is 100 yen for 2 credits and 3 rounds. I didn’t touch nesica the entire time I was in Japan last winter lol.

@Devdan where in Japan are you?

I’m doing an ALT thing (I know, I know), and I don’t know where they’re going to stick me yet. I got to spend the day in Tokyo, near Akihabara which I know isn’t the number 1 3S spot. I was too sleep deprived and sore-throated to feel like venturing to one of those spots where I’d run out of money in minutes.

I used to play VF (badly, mostly by myself) in Akiba a bit, and it bums me out that literally only one arcade has it now. I read that somewhere like a month ago, and figured it was an exaggeration. 2.5 years ago, Leisureland #1 has 8 setups. 8 to 0! I guess they can’t host the VF Railway Series anymore. (I never actually bothered to look into what that was, but they advertised it pretty heavily!..)

go to newton freeplay if you’re worried about the hit on your wallet.

Oh yeah, that’s a thing. Well, I’m out of Tokyo for now anyway. I’ll find out where I’m getting placed in a few days.

I’ve heard of a hit confirming technique where you look at your Points Score and confirm once the score changes numbers. Is this a reliable hit confirm under any circumstance or is it just a neat little trick?

I’m a just take a shot, I’m guessing Xbox and Ps3 dead for competition, switch to Fightcade/GGPO?
