Shiroitachi is that Makoto nigga tho, dude shows up and wrecks face, then disappears and isn’t heard from in a minute
So today I teamed up with LEVA at the 2on2 tournament at Versus. First draw we got Pierrot/Match as opponents… unbelievable thing, I beat Pierrot and also played a good game against Match, who then beat me and Leva but not that easily. Then in losers we went up against an Ibuki - didn’t get the name, Atsushi maybe? - who beat up me badly, I still have no clue in that matchup. LEVA beat the Ibuki pretty convincingly but then lost to Chinta. The tournament was pretty stacked.
In the end Pierrot won the tournament all by himself so while of course he’s waayyy better than me he surely wasn’t on a bad day. I’m so happy I defeated him, as he’s one of my favourite players. The thing is, in my region the only other 3s player remaining is a Remy player, thus that is the only matchup I got to practice properly in the past 3 years - I go to the gatherings in Milan when I can but that’s not frequent enough for building up experience vs other characters. This boosted my confidence in the sense that I’m actually competitive if I can get enough matchup practice.
Filling myself with energy drinks maybe helped too XD
Actually they’re telling me it wasn’t streamed, but I’m pretty sure it was recorded. I hope it gets uploaded!
Oh, MOV was there… playing only Nesica 3s with his Shibuya Broly card against Furo.
I don’t understand him lol.
What region are you from?
Good shit beating Pierrot!
Just wanted to check on this: I was watching an old Renic video where he had Pyrolee on and they were both commentating on a match between Pryo and 5Star. Here’s the vid for reference:
The two of them acknowledge that there’s subtle differences between Arcade and OE and Pyro say’s the Twin Dive Kicks are more punishable on console and that Urien’s throw has more range in Arcade. Just curious if anyone here agrees or disagrees with these statements. Obviously I’ve played the emulated version (ugh) and every console version but it does seem like Urien’s throw has more range in at least the emulated version. I know my Powerbomb setups, I know the range I have to be at to not worry about being grabbed on wakeup, but with Urien’s it seems like their throw has deceptive range.
MOV was playing Nesica? The stats on the official site still make it look like literally nobody is playing it. Weird.
Also, if Urien’s throw has more rage on AC I might as well just quit right now. I get thrown by Urien enough as is. His throw feels second only to Chun’s in terms of being a magical vortex that beats and any all of my moves.
I know Yun gets an OE boost from his damage on the Zenpo Tenshin or something. Does a ridiculous amount of extra damage.
Divekicks being more punishable on console feels like a reference to the speed difference between arcade and console, which plays a mighty factor in what’s safe and what isn’t. If your timing is off, what you thought might be safe now has a punish window. Just my two cents.
@Ryu24 I’m pretty sure it’s the other way around: using Zenpou to start your GJ combos does less damage on OE compared to arcade.
I remember seeing a video of someone performing such a combo first on OE and then on FBA, and then comparing the health bars. I tried looking for it but unfortunately I couldn’t find it. If anybody remembers that could they try posting a link?
Nope, the vid showed showed OE scaling less than arcade with zenpou was done in GJ.
The scaling is also different without using zenpou. One simple example versus ken is, 123 activate xx mp xx far hp does 27 damage on oe compared to 23 in arcade. Also, 123 activate xx mp xx shoulder x7 -> hp -> dash punch does 69 damage to ken on oe compared to 61 on arcade. Palms also seem to scale a lot harder on arcade depending on what moves you do prior to the palm.
The standard shoto combo does the same amount of damage on oe and arcade up until the ender. I haven’t tested other enders, but the dragon kicks -> shoulder -> tw.hp -> dash punch does the same damage on both.
As far as I know I’m gonna have to call bs on the dive kick and urien throw being different on arcade.
Scaling seems to be all screwy on OE. I’m not sure if it’s a genejin only problem. I would assume it’s not only limited to OE but also dreamcast/ps2.
To be honest, unless you plan on playing on arcade competitively, the differences between OE and arcade are trivial.
Maybe @pyrolee can throw in his 0.02 if Twin Dive Kicks are more punishable on Console and Urien’s throw has more range in Arcade.
Off topic: how many of you guys would buy 3SOE again if it came out on Steam and had about the same or slightly better netcode as before? I’m genuinely surprised Capcom never tried a Steam release of the fighting games.
Leave it alone man.
I’d buy it right away on Steam since I prefer playing on PC anyways.
It’s OK for me on Fightcade so buy it on Steam?
Fightcade is okay, but OE is better. If the game was released on Steam I’d buy it at the drop of a hat.
OE on Steam would combine the worst of both worlds - innate input/video/audio latency of PC platform with screwed up scaling, slightly wrong game speed, and non-authentic arcade experience of OE (I mean stuff like the menu colors, weird sounding audio, etc). and when you consider most people aren’t using CRTs on their computer it would be even worse. as far as I can tell the only benefits to OE on PC would be training mode and maybe a different playerbase for PC players. but is laggy training mode really worth it?
if they ever did release it on PC they’d need to address the way ranked matches work. when I was e-mailing IG about the patch before it came out, something I brought up is the ufcgym problem. one person going AFK (on accident or on purpose) ruins the ranked experience of every single person playing. it shouldn’t be surprising that the XBL online community died a horrible death while GGPO and PSN live on - we’ve been dealing with a near unusable option of ranked matches for three years. I told them about this and they said “you can just choose the avoid that person and they won’t show up to play against.” which is such a horrible answer since
- if you never get to play that person, XBL won’t let you avoid them
- avoiding them doesn’t do anything
I mean how dumb is it that for three years ufcgym has been AFK from ranked and no one can do anything about it? people have filed complaints through XBL by the hundreds and nothing ever happens. IG’s ranked matchmaking system is a disaster if it’s going to exists with no oversight (which it does). it would take an hour of playing your own game out in the real world to realize it’s a problem and that you need to do something about it. that they were completely unaware of this before they released the patch and brushed me off when I mentioned it suggests to me they likely never actually played their game online.
so yeah anyway if OE ever came out on PC they’d need to give an option to have an ignore list (where you’ll never be matched up to that person in ranked), or they need a timer where if you don’t accept a match for five minutes you’re booted out of ranked queue.
though one upside of OE on PC would be if the modding community could do something with it. like if it was open to modding you could redo the menus, sound effects, genei jin scaling, etc. add in input display, hitboxes, and stuff like the charge bars to training mode. that would be worthwhile. it’s a shame that console games aren’t generally open to modding because modding console OE would actually be the best option.
only kinda related - I always thought it would be cool if someone with technical knowledge expanded the CPS3 version of the game. like you could attach a small board to your CPS3 that added training mode with save states. or maybe this board could also add online play. like why spend all this time working with inferior versions of the game, when you could take the actual arcade game and give it all the bells and whistles? I know it’ll never happen but it would be cool in a perfect world.
