3rd Strike General Discussion Thread

From where in Europe do you actually come from?

Italy

Keep the Jap arcade stories coming B)

Are there any old ladies or grandpas that were playing 3S? I read peopleā€™s stories about these legendary arcade players but I was wondering if it applied to arcade 3S as well

Iā€™ve played it seriously since fall 2006 if that helps

Kuni is really good at landing denjin. Like out of the blue heā€™ll dash and back throw you -> denjin when you least expect it. I understand what you mean by counter fugo, I think itā€™s like heā€™s good at spotting gaps in your concentration or feelings (I know it sounds weird).

Tominaga is way underrated i think outside Japan cause people think heā€™s just double fukiage. heā€™s really logical and smart.

Raoh I only played in tournament once but Iā€™m not a raoh fan, didnā€™t get good vibes from him lol.

I agree Mitri, I absolutely love these stories. Itā€™s like, 3s is not just the best game ever but it also has the most interesting community of players around it. Incredible combination.

And yep just by watching him play all these years I have the same feelings towards Raoh. Good but soulless Chun. His experience does not translate into depth and sophistication like say Nukiā€™s Chun. Itā€™s just there. He is unquestionably good, wins a lot but he never awes or makes me rewind the play and gasp at the sheer genius of what I just witnessed like the other top players.

And I also agree 100% on Tominaga. He doesnā€™t dazzle with pure crazy talent like Mimora but heā€™s far from being a double fukiage robot. Heā€™s also very likable andā€¦fashionable. I would love to meet/play him one day.

I wanted to comment on Kyabetsu as he didnā€™t get the appreciation that performance deserved on that other thread. I mean, damn. Just with that performance alone he owned the legendary green Ken gi. It was funny there at the end, Mester and Vanao were like: - Itā€™s over I guess. - Yep 3s is over. -He conquered it. - Is that okay?

And was that victory cry a yu-gi-oh reference? Did I get that correctly?

I was honestly shocked by how good Kyabetsu was at 3rd Strike. I only knew him as a top KoF player(rocked the house in SBO3 at Neowave) and C.Viper from SF4, but according to commentary the guy was an old-school 3S player as well. The guyā€™s amazing. Him and Gamecenter Arashi, who I mainly knew as a Virtua Fighter player.

Who was his main team in the other game???

Hopefully he just doesnā€™t random select like I used to do lol

I think it was Kim/Terry/Saishu. I distinctly remember Saishu because of the anchor/anchor battle. It was so hype, they both kept doing their 50% juggles down to the wire.

Nice!!! When I play those games I can only play random select ugh

Thatā€™s because Ryu sucks against Chun and Yun does much better versus Chun. Character strength and matchup is about 70% of results.

And of course he always picks green costumes to complete the gimmick synergy with his vegetable nick.

Tominaga = Best Makoto in Japan right now besides Kuroda
Slayed 4 Chuns in pre-coop and
Slayed the entire Nuki family at coop.

I thought Denjin was good against Chun?

No, its still very terrible and big reliance on luck. Still 7-3 in her favor since Chun has a lot of tools to escape it neutralizing its power.

But I play Urien not Yun

Itā€™s really weird to see this sentiment expressed since thatā€™s what I used to think for a long while (funnily enough, as I thought of him as the hype Double Fuki guy that Yuuki was alluding to). But then I asked the community for their opinions and everyone said ā€œNo, Mimora is way betterā€, and then posted the Mimora vs. Tominaga FT10 where Mimora absolutely wrecks Tomi.

To be perfectly honest I donā€™t watch nearly enough match vids as I should to form a decent opinion.

I think Tominagaā€™s one of the most improved players Iā€™ve seen in the past few years. Heā€™s been known for shit like Double Fukiage, random SA2 and seemingly always killing opponents with cr.LK, but heā€™s leveled up a lot and proven himself to be a top Makoto. I still hate his playstyle, but I canā€™t deny that heā€™s good.

So tonight I went to game Versus. I performed worse than yesterday, maybe having my belly exploding due to the huuuuge bowl of ramen I had at Jirou Ramen didnā€™t help lol. But I know Iā€™m sorta unstable in my performances, I donā€™t really know how to sort that out.
They sent me first in the East vs West, I was so nervous I was missing stuff I usually have no problem with, got 3 wins then lost to LEVA who usually beats me so no complaints, still Iā€™m not happy about how I played.
So many killers this night, at least there also were some players well within my reach sp while I lost many games overall I also got wins to build some confidence. I like that even the not so good players can be extremely dangerous with a couple of guesses, forcing me to be always careful even against the few I could easily outplay.
Kuroda was there but never played, MOV was there too but only playing USFIV, what a letdown.

I wish I could stay here a lot longer.

Maybe Iā€™ll look into teaching Italian thereā€¦
