Could someone remind me of the 1p/2p differences. It was brought up in the Kuroda ft10 thread because Matsuken and him switched sides half way through.
This relates to Ken’s post super ambiguous cross up right? Are there reasons to use a normal other than st.mp to time the jump?
Ah interesting. Is that why they switch sides halfway through? I figured maybe it was because sticks aren’t always in best condition and it was s courtesy thing or something. I didn’t give it too much thought.

Some characters can dash through the roll of others only on certain sides, I know that’s a difference. I’m trying to think of specifics off the top of my head and i’m getting nothing.
I think many characters can dash through twelve’s roll though? might not even be 1p/2p corner dependent.

Well the thread is really just repeating info at this point. I don’t see how talking about sf5 harms anything. Especially since it increases the potential for other players not usually exposed to 3s to join in and ascertain similarities between the two games. Which will in turn potentially create a new 3s player out of them.
I think Ken’s corner crossup works differently against certain characters depending on 1p/2p but that’s as specific as I can get.
re: SF5 discussion in this thread. I think some of the posters like talking some off topic stuff among the familiar names of the 3s board so I don’t mind it so much, but whether it should be in this thread or another dedicated thread I’ll leave up to Bob since this thread is his.
SF4 looks like shit. I don’t know why people are up in arms about it. The character models look like some Gears of War mod.
Also, I just went into the newly created SFV subforum and some 3s regulars popped there heads into the parry thread over there. @duckcanoe, you can probably 3-0 me in 3s but come on man contain your aspergers when it comes to randoms crying about 3s mechanics. If you look at the reactions of people’s posts complaining about 3s they are mostly disagree’d, WTF’d and even spam’ed so if anything the board over there is behind 3s. LOL’d at the OP getting schooled by igloobob and just trying to pretend like it didn’t happen.
Last thing I’m going to say on the topic of sf5 in here, I don’t think anyone wants a whole thread dedicated to it anyway. I certainly don’t, hence the reason I’m editing my original post to include any new info I find. I’m glad Pherai didn’t give in to the babies. Thank you sama.

I personally don’t care either way. I’d be a bit of a hypocrite if I complained about sf5 talk and then talked about kpop a page or two later (which I do all the time) (pretty sure 3 people max ever care about kpop talk).
I think sf5 looks pretty awful though. The way the characters move looks so bad. My interest rapidly declined after seeing the exhibition. Not something I’ll follow with any interest after this.

Anyway, since this is a 3rd strike general discussion thread lets talk about 1p/2p differences.
1p ken can be more ambiguous on which side he lands post jinrai compared to 2p Ken. The oldest set up is jinrai -> whiff st mp -> super jump (1p Ken crosses up 2p doesn’t). there’s variations for ambiguous landing set ups but still, there are definitely more times where Ken magically crossed up even though it doesn’t look like he will when it’s 1P.
There are some other 1p/2p differences with ken like throwing opponent into your own corner leads to a jump cross up etc.
When you play against a strong Ken in tournament it’s ideal for them to be 2p if possible 
It doesn’t really matter if you guys want to discuss sf5. I just get excited when I see like 10 new posts hoping there’s some good 3rd discussion and then it’s just “there’s parry in the game… No there isn’t… Yes there is…no there really isn’t”
Also every gachi battle switches halfway through. Just to make things equal.

You gotta consider the fact that the game is still in an alpha state. The one thing I did like about the animations is when Ryu’s sweep got blocked it had a different animation so instead of continuing he sort of reeled back his foot. That’s never been done in a street fighter. That raises the question, do the recovery frames change if it was blocked when compared to a whiffed sweep? Chun Li didn’t seem to have those special animations yet with her blocked normals in the demo either, so it looks like they’re still a lot to do in development, things can still change for better or worse. The game looked like it ran in 30 FPS that could’ve just been the twitch/youtube compression though.
