Wouldn’t it be better if he ran it on PS3/Xbox 360? I personally don’t have a PS2 stick, nor a converter, so if I was going, I wouldn’t be able to play if I had a set on a console. It’s inconveniencing people for the sake of recreating the tournament to the last detail. 
So was Cookye a really good player? Haha. I remember my brother lamenting the fact that there was practically no resources for Elena apart from her old as fuck videos. When talking about her specials, she would make the noises Elena was making instead of referring to them by name.
Elena is really simple. Kara throw mixed up with back rh. Learn the best punishment combos. Have better ground game and mixups than your opponent. low mp can’t be late canceled into super so can’t use it like chun. Parry punish only or ground game. Most Elena’s don’t do this but you can super opponents whiff moves. Example low mk bam raw super.
Sounds like Watson is really trying for arcade though, didn’t really expect that:

I am honestly working my butt off to get everything on arcade setups, and being as I’m the owner of Super Arcade it would only seem logical, right? If by some miracle all the stars align. then this would be the best-case scenario. But as we all know, things don’t always work out, so our fallback plan would be to use the same console setups that were used for those games during Evo. As far as Super Turbo goes, as of right now this is probably the easiest game to run arcade setups or at least arcade boards for. Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 are not so easy, and the backup plan would be PlayStation 2 for CvS2 and Dreamcast for Marvel. Now onto the main event, 3rd Strike: I currently own two boards and have a few cabs I can run this on, but once again, if this fails, we will run this on PS2 as it has been done for past Evo tournaments.

Not to be a dick, but Cookye isn’t that great of a player, considering that his offense relies primarily on a lot of gambles (who the fuck does double overhead special, the two hitting one, in succession, and then expects it to not be punished the second time around?).

I wanna blame the monitors but maybe there’s an element of tourney nerves too? I’ve only played in a local tourney and a couple small money matches before.
I watched the footage and you could tell I was annoyed. Elenas not fun and when youre getting hit by dumb stuff you don’t even get hit by online it’s hella lame.
I felt much better about casuals at hooters after. Those went better for me I think.

dont overanalyze it. just know true arcade players never do well at console tournies. they get drunk and bitch about the tournament the rest of the night.
naturally @Duralath is the exception to this rule. somehow hes a true arcade player that does well at console tournies, and still gets drunk with afterward.

so for any place with a dedicated 3S crew, I can’t imagine they would do something like that.
mostly this will just mean 3S is accessible in places where nesica live is already being used.

Only found one 3s machine in Seoul at the back of a kinda grungy arcade. Korean sticks are so terrible imo.
SF2 was popular at the nicer arcade there. They had a row of candy cabs with a few flavours back in 2009.
