yea, kakuto chojin was mad by dream factory but dream factory has consisted of MANY teams through out the years as with many of these video game companies
Tobal 1\2 were the same team. Once tobal 2 was done, the main people went to tekken\VF to help those franchises. Look where they are @ now, they’re the 2 leading 3d fighting game developers.
once the tobal team left, the company went to shit with bad game after bad game. Bouncer, ehrgheiz, kakuto chojin, the people they used as replacements couldn’t revitalize the company. If tobal 2 got an arcade release back then who knows what it would have done to the 3d scene. I believe the elements in tobal 2 should definitely be a standard @ this point but thats just my 2 cents.
I’m willing to bet a standing boxer can handle either of those styles just fine. Also, I’m willing to bet that those other styles are even limited by the rules since most of them have killing/disabling blows anyway. Hell, thai kick boxing uses a lot of elbows and you can’t do that shit either.
MMA my ass.
Edit for the mounted comment:
I remember seeing a championship fight where one guy absolutely refused to go to the floor because he knew the other guy would beat him there. Straight up, not every fight has to, or will go to the floor. The most hilarious shit was the guy who wanted to hit the floor laying there, legs up and open, hoping that the guy would go down after him.
If that last sentence doesn’t sound as gay as it looked, then someone’s kidding themselves.
Sorry, forgot about Boxing, Boxing is top tier too, great for punching power and technique.
And honestly, that was an exception not the rule. 90% of all fights end up on the ground. That guy was dumb, he should have kept going for a takedown, not laying there like he’s waiting to get fucked.
Wow this is some retarded shit. Apparently the OP doesn’t know the difference between a simulation game and a fighting game. Just go play an MMA simulation game…
If fighting games are too fake for you, DON’T play them. Stop mixing genres of video games!
Also, who the fuck cares about MMA? Its just another stupid sport for the rednecks who finally figured out that WWE is fake.
Later I’ll point all the things wrong with the second part of your statement, but for now I will agree that he is mixing genres, the same way Spike TV labeled Smackdown a fighting game and therefore put it in category with Soul Calibur and Tekken…and Smash…? Saying UFC games are fighting games is admitting that Smash is a fighting game, and then we’ll have a whole new argument on our hands and nobody wants that…again…
What would really be interesting is having another 3d fighting franchise that’s like the versus portion of The Bouncer, as well as a franchise like Destrega. We really need more 3d titles cause the only three that are still active are Tekken, Virtua Fighter, and Soul Calibur. We already lost many ones like Tobal, Battle Arena Toshinden, Psychic Force, Bloody Roar, Rival Schools, Star Gladiator, Power Stone, Bloody Roar, and Dead or Alive.
if you repackaged tobal 2 simply with updated graphics, a new player would not know the game was made in 1997. Thats how ahead of its time the game is. I encourage anyone to try it via emulator. There is an english version of the game out on the net.
Give tobal 2 the HDR treatment, beefed up grahics, some new music, good online play and you’re looking @ a game that can easily fill the void in the 3d market IMO.
I’m really just campaigning for this game lol. It was a japan only release unfortunately so the world missed out on it.
I don’t think that’s even going to happen, I’m afraid. If we’re going to have a 3d fighter that would really crave our interests in 3d fighting games, someone’s going to have to come up with something big, and I mean something that’s state-of-the-art, because we’ve been LONG overdue for one.
Amen. I don’t dislike Tekken or VF, but 3d fighters are badly in need of a refresh.
Who says you can’t have a good 3d fighting game with projectiles or interactive/tiered arenas and stages? Quite frankly, there’s no good reason that “3D fighting game” must be synonymous with “realism”, and be based around launching and then juggling your opponent until they go out of bounds, or hit the wall and the ground then proceed to get raped.
That’s why it’s such a shame that KOF MIRA never caught on because it is the ONLY 3d fighter I’ve ever seen that somehow managed to include projectiles and even FUCKING BEAMS in the game and make them work.
That’s why I want a good 3d fighting game, with an indepth system (unlike Power Stone), good movement, good throw system, good use of arenas, and long-range projectile fighting as well.
