3 Tickets to Eurasia: Strider Team Building Thread

Strider/Strange/Amaterasu

This team is so god damn cheap, it’s perhaps the best Strider team behind the strongest Strange shell there is.

Not only does Strider get bolts for combo extension, extensive zoning, safe 50/50’s,and access to FoF loops off a Rings, but he also gets Amaterasu’s god like Cold-star for amazing okizeme game. Do your extended BnB with Bolt’s, end in a hard-knockdown, dash back, call cold-star and proceed to dash jump overhead for clean crossup/mixups from anywhere on the screen.

In the case that your order is anyway reversed or changed, both Strange and amaterasu benefit from Strider. Use Vajra for clean 50/50’s with Strange, or extended combos (my favorite being Impact loop, call vajra, TK Eye of agamotto, IP, Fly neutral up, Palm, Fof,xx). You can also just use Vajra for the double SoV which is ridiculously damaging and easy to set up. Amaterasu gets neat setups with Strider, and her incoming becomes even MORE ridiculous. Set up a Mist, tag into Strider and proceed to destroy your opponents.

If Strider dies, Strange Amaterasu should have ample meter to bulldoze your opponents anyway. the Strange/Ammy TAC is as close to unblockable you can get without being unblockable, and strange can combo fully afterward. ColdstarxxTeleport is extremely hard to block, and it gives you time to set up an EOA and some glyphs.

If you’re using point Strider, use this team.

But then, you gotta play Ammy

From my research and playtesting, i’ve found that Strider/Zero/Hawkeye, Strider/Zero/Mags, Strider/Vergil/Strange, Strider/Strange/Akuma, Strider/Sentinel/Akuma, Strider/Doom/Sentinel, Strider/Dante/Mags, and Strider/Vergil/Mags to be the best teams. There are probably many others especially if you decide to use Cold Star, but I don’t really play Cold Star so I’ve yet to experiment with it.

Can you do good corner extensions with Cold Star?

Would Strider/Zero/Strange be amongst the best point Strider teams?

Best Strider team is Strider/Strange/Dante or Strider/Dante/Mag

I believe in the power of my team Strider/Strange/Dante. That team allows Strider to just steam roll a match. Get the oppenent into the corner and its ggs have fun guessing 4-5 50/50 followed by IOH, Jump cancel crossup H’s and tick throws that doesn’t give a fuck about push blocking. Both of those assist allow strider to keep a orb at all times and allows strider the ability to kill off a touch and maul you with his insane rushdown.

If strider dies you get strange dante or dante strange both which are really good in there own respect. Dante can start fof loops for strange and extend them aswell. Dante gets a much needed beam pseudo lockdown in strange bolts that setup several boxdash crossups. They also dhc pretty well into one another. Dante gets a free escape into punish by either DT to SOV or Raggador depending on the situation that will lead to happy birthdays or dead characters if you have xfactor.

Strange gets a lockdown assist that cuts off the screen and allows time to setup actions like eoa. Jam extends his damage with fof loops and adds to the meter build of which they both need to fight harder matchups. Jam is also an easy conversion for strange to carry corner for amazing corner mixups and pressure that will often lead into dead characters rather quickly.

This team can be played in pretty much any order depending on the match. It leads more to the version I posted above to deal with wolverines and magnetos and you can play dante on point when you have other rushdown characters that aren’t as threatning.

To be honest though the Dante/Strange or STrange dante shell is probably BEST USED by viper.

I have played this team off and on and I have gotten much better with it recently because I decided to main strange so wins that I couldn’t get before because it was basically a 2 man team have improved drastically. Try it out for yourself and see what I mean. I guarantee you will love it.

Strider/Jam Session/Tatsu sounds pretty fun.

@Marvelo Yeah. Depending on hitstun you can do birdbomb+gram extensions, or set up the bird-bomb unblockable

Suprised no-one has posted this. Clockwork going nuts with Strider/Doom(rocks)/Vergil. Obviously chosen as an ode to his mvc2 team but looks pretty effective. 40.35 timestamp

can I get some opinions on Strider / Ammy?

Im very interested in running Zero / Strider / Ammy…just curious if I can get some input on Strider / Cold Star. Im assuming its just as good as any other “mixup character / lockdown assist” would be.

Thanks!

Edit:

Also, why is it that im seeing people list the Zero / Strider shell with Strider on point? Is that just if you want to run point Strider? Is there any other benefit to it or is Strider / Zero the ideal order? I cant imagine it being better than Zero / Strider, but maybe someone could enlighten me?

Well Zero’s a good 2nd for anyone. Can convert of pretty much any DHC into Lightning Loops, Invincible Crossover counters with Ryuujin assist that lead into full combos. Safe DHC for those who like to fish with Supers like Spencer.

However his incoming mixup is so broken, most people prefer the fact you can get the first hit and the other person might not get to play no matter how good they are.

He’s also a good Dark Anchor. Watch the hitbox arcade " I need a Zero" video on youtube.

As for Strider/Ammy you have Clockwork’s old team at the start of ultimate. There’s also a player from Brazil who uses RR/Strider/Ammy. Can’t remember his name but check him out on either paulow3b’s channel or Brian Kasugano

hey guys. relatively new here and i’ve recently decided to play s.skrull [tenderizer]//vergil [rapid slash]//strider [vajra]. What do you guys think of this team in terms of synergy?

Has anyone tried out point strider with arthur daggers? A lot of cool stuff seems to work with him. You get the standard dash up H + daggers then teleport mixup, dash up H + daggers then wall cling, daggers and vajra from fullscreen and its safe against grounded opponents(but can be air thrown), if dash up H + daggers hits you can charge the satellite, dash up MHf.H, dp L, shoot satellite into the standard combo of this sort. It’s also a fairly slow assist which strider can just follow with plink dashing. Also the fact that arthur has generally useful support means he’s not really restricting your choice for middle too much. I’ve been trying out strider/vergil/arthur. Am I overlooking something important for point strider teams besides TAC infinites?

Disregard

Daggers are fucking amazing for many characters. For Nova, Strider, or pretty much the majority of characters. Hopefully I finish my video soon so you can see a lot of the tech/combos necessary for point Strider.

I’ve been experimenting with Strider/(Doom/IM/Magneto)/Vergil so that the team has both TAC infinites and hard tags (the wall cling dive kick hard tag, I haven’t tried either of the heavy gram hard tags)

To anyone trying to fill that middle slot, I think this is what the choice boils down to.

Iron Man (Unibeam):

+Can confirm off Unibeam into hard tag (with orb summoned) because it keeps them grounded (better hitstun due to the way it works in this game)

  • Beam confirms in general are the most consistent due to not having to account for height issues.
+If you’ve saved your ground bounce, offers a wall cling into the standard simple or advanced enders
+Longer blockstun than Magneto allows for more effective high/low mixups with Strider’s instant double jump overheads.
  • Can pick up off slide for situational punishes
+Strong THC (Havent fully looked into it yet though)
  • Iron Man can make use of both Vajra and Rapid Slash effectively for combo extension and zoning
+Unibeam good for Vergil Spiral Sword extensions (eg. helm breaker, call assist, high time, trick down etc.)
EDIT: Easily best DHC option of the 3 midscreen

-Unibeam Slower than EM Disruptor
-Unibeam scales damage with 6-8 hits coupled with Strider’s already low damage
-Iron Man is arguably the worst of the three characters (in terms of damage, mixups, movement, defensive options etc.)
-Iron Man finds it slightly hard to DHC out due to no aerial hyper

  • If Strider wants to DHC out Proton Cannon isn’t safe

Doom (Plasma Beam):

  • Doom has the best defensive option of the three characters in footdive
  • Plasma Beam offers same wall cling extension that Unibeam does
  • Finger laser hyper allows Strider to DHC out easily
+Longer blockstun than Magneto allows for more effective high/low mixups with Strider’s instant double jump overheads.
  • Can pick up off slide for situational punishes
+Doom can make use of both Vajra and Rapid Slash effectively for combo extension and zoning (better than Iron Man)
+Plasma beam good for Vergil Spiral Sword post hard tag (eg. helm breaker, call assist, high time, trick down etc.)

-Plasma Beam Slower than EM Disruptor
-Plasma Beam scales damage with 6-8 hits coupled with Strider’s already low damage
-Plasma Beam does not allow you to confirm into a raw tag because of aerial hitstun deterioration

  • Less mixup potential than Unibeam because of need to confirm beam then mixup i.e with Unibeam you can teleport and go empty low or double high and it will still combo on hit or mixup on block. With Plasma beam if you go empty low or double high and the beam hits you will miss out on the combo

Magneto (EM Disruptor):

+Arguably best character of the three, though some believe Doom to be better without optimal support (rapid slash is not optimal support)

  • EM Disruptor fastest beam for quickest left/right mixups
  • Disruptor allows you to summon an orb mid combo for higher damage
+Disruptor only has 1 hit for better damage and damage scaling

-Disruptor does not offer wall cling extensions that Unibeam and PLasma Beam do
-Disruptor does not allow you to confirm into a raw tag beacuse of aerial hitstun deterioration

  • Short block stun makes Strider high low mixups slightly harder
  • Soft knockdown limits mixups potential post teleport in the same way as explained above with Plasma Beam
  • Disruptor works for Vergil Spiral Sword post hard but much more inconsistent/difficult timing
-Cannot pick up off slide/disruptor combos from situational punishes ( not sure about this being a serious point tbh)
-Magneto has weak DHC options in like Iron Man
-Magneto cannot use Vajra as effectively as the other two.

Its probably worth comparing Trish as well because her TAC infinites are easy and consistent and she has a beam but i haven’t done any research into it.

It’s also worth pointing out that the hard tag into Vergil does not work on all characters. On some it works, on others the wall cling attacks need to be delayed and some it doesn’t work.

My personal opinion is that Iron Man optimizes Strider the most but if you can’t be consistent with the hard tags or don’t want to use them Magneto is a better option.

The Norcal Shell is never bad though

Hi guys, Im wondering if you can give me some advice for a strider team, right now Im playing Marvelo’s Team and is really good! and fun to play! but I was thinking in that may be another point character for that team, someone besides viper, dante, vergil or zero, I was thinking on shehulk but you will die in a second against top tier chars, so…is magneto an option? I want to make good combos and the most practical with this team of Doom
and Strider, but you are the best giving advices

thanks!

I’ve been messing with Jill/Dok/Strider its kind of interesting.

Been messing around with Strider and I really like the neutral with bolts and tatsu but the thing is how viable would you say it is in competitive play and can Strider one touch on point without wasting more then 2 bars?

Its viable an can one touch but your execution has to be on point. I find raw tag Shenanigans to be difficult. Personally I prefer Dante over Akuma. It can work very well though. Strider gets everything he needs snd can maintain fantastic pressure and open up anyone after making them block. If you wanna TOD run vergil instesd of akuma

I mean as long as it is possible to one touch from point strider with the team I am perfectly fine with it. I also kinda do like the idea of playing Akuma anchor because I am able to shift him with strider on point and I am not a fan of Dante point or anchor (thanks to wolverine).

Lately ive been using Zero/Dorm/Strider…powering zero up and getting strider on point…yeah yeah i know not optimal. My question is would of you combo video specialist like to take on the task of showing me some optimal combos? I have a few tricks and setups …mainly relaunch stuff into black hole. like blah blah launch m,h, ex-cal down, land jump call dorm. m,h,s black hole hits from that you get all types of mix ups. double jump instant over heads…summon satellite while black hole hits into other mix ups. favorite sets ups are stuff life meteors into flare legion x factor…again not the most optimal team but it has enough to get the job done.
