Open a lobby, lay down your own Ricktatorship. On Ranked? Well if it’s in the game, it’s in the game, buddy. The FGC is supposed to work with what the game is about, and you may face solo players in this game. Deal with it, and I say this with respect.
I play solo to sharpen up my skills with a certain character, like drills with other players. But I do prefer 2v2 (particularly Pair Play above all). It’s just more exciting.
I was talking about the fact that the feature is being consumed regardless of if you actually use it or not. Personally, I have no problem with Solo at all.
IMO, solo is severely back-ended. Once your defense gets solid enough to not get randomly tagged by moves you’ll find that their limitations are much more significant.
Similar to how R4s never ended up getting used, dmg is actually roughly equal between tags and solos. My current team [Marduk/Jaycee] does 90-105] dmg off of arbitrary launchers of which a lot is lost red health. This team does high dmg and I’ll probably switch back to Feng/Jaycee, but even that team is [85-100 almost all lost red health; 120 for the really unsafe one…] So we’re both hitting for about 50% life so you’re about equal except that the solo cannot steal your red health in any method. Additionally since they cannot tag at all, they have to deal with the resulting setup in a conventional way. Which can be repeating or even fatal.
This comes up in neutral too, since [safely! or at least unexpected!] tagging allows you cause some moves to whiff, escape certain setups, allows the incoming char to enter with a variety of options and resets your lifebar in a way that they can’t touch. Also allowing red life regen, which again they can’t touch. And of course have a variety playstyle is so damn important…another reason I don’t care for clone chars… Tag crashing of course is mostly a free shot at life, something that solos didn’t get out in the open and damn well wish they had at the wall.
As it is in all FGs as defense goes up, options matter more and more. Solos trade all their options for…not very much.
In my opinion 2v1 is a better match up for 2 than 1. I don’t know about the console version of the game (I only play TTT2 Unlimited in arcade) but in arcade here no one at all makes any big deal about someone choosing solo or tag. The only reason why i say 2v1 is better for 2 is because they have longer combo potential and the ability to tag out. I’ve seen so many situations where a quick down tag on a solo opponent has led into a combo that won the game for the person doing the tag. Personally I play solo every time I play TTT2 because I only know how to play Bob and only like Bob. But it seems the general consensus in China is Tag is better than solo because its way more common to see tag here (i play at the same arcade as the guy who went to sbo from china…i’ve only ever beaten him one time and thats because he let me win a round because i was out of tokens and i caught him with a rage combo last round) but honestly does it really matter? i know the sbo qualifiers that are held at my arcade they allow tag and solo and i only saw 1 guy playing solo he got 3rd though lol
anyway idk what im trying to say anymore just rambling because i cant sleep…but i think in the end 2 has the greater advantage
IMO, Solo is not that bad for me. I always raped solo characters, it just depends on the player’s skill, and how much he can adapt when I switch. Other than that, as long as you play the matchup instead of the game mode, you’ll be fine.
BTW, I would rather play a solo Paul than a Jun/Asuka team -__-
