you could just click on another tab in the supercade browser, not close the page
this “diamond” is well made and is better than 2df

Justice, how ungrateful can you be?
I love how people think it’s that easy to just add games to emulators
damdai: the latest version of FBA also supports Sega Genesis (UMK3), PGM games (Martial Masters, Knights Of Valour) and a bunch of other arcade games (The Simpsons, TMNT Turtles In Time etc.)
can you look into it please? it would also make the romset up to date with MAME (right now it’s a weird mix of old and new roms)… and they would be easier to find

damdai, it’s like to be in a real arcade … u start a session with 1 coin, if somebody doesnt join u…well, change the game xD
anyway… Savage Reign!!! Fuck yeah! Still waiting for SVC, but Savage Reign rocks!
This games addition is great ! Thanks !
Just to sum it up, 2 things stiill need to be improved in supercade imo :
1/ no multi sessions : i think spinalblood is right about it, it tends to play even less little played games.
2/ not enough people on supercade (I can’t see more than 7 sessions in general) : i don’t know how, but the site needs to be diffused and known : i really think thousands of people may be interested in this, it’s a shame there is barely 150 people now ! (to my mind, this remark was relevant for 2df too).
Damdai please add ability to create multiple sessions (for several games) at once, so then game will start after someone challenges you in one of those sessions, and other your sessions shift to unavailable status. Right now, with only 1 possible session at a time, it basically lowers your chances to find competition, and overall sounds like kaillera system all over again. I dont think there are many people on Supercade that want to play exclusively 1 game and dont care about the others.
Also as many people stated before, this nullifies chances to find competition in some of the less popular games. With 1 session limit, no one will create sessions for them, since they will think that they have better chances to find competition in more popular games.
Damdai, I apologize if my earlier posts in this thread seemed ungrateful. I, as well as other people, was just taken aback at the changes and they were met with an unexpected reaction. After having some time to reflect on the whole thing, I realize I blew my rants out of proportion and overrexaggerrated a little.
I know in your heart of hearts you will do your best to make this program as successful, impressive and feature packed as you can. I can tell that you are, at your core, a hardcore fan of old 2D games and for that you have my upmost respect! This alone tells me that we are in good hands and although the new program doesn’t have everything we want at the moment, I know you’re working hard to make as many smart improvements to it as you can .
With that said, I want to thank you for adding what was an unexpectedly HUGE fucking catalog of new games to Supercade. Ms. Pac-man? Well fuck me…that came out of nowhere. You rock my friend
Now with all that said, I brought up the name of a little old game to you a few months back called Ninja Princess. I remember you acknowledging it as a cool little arcade classic from Sega you informed me that you would add it. That was a long time ago and I understand you may have forgotten about it. But if you get a chance could you add Ninja Princess? Thanks again and keep up the good work.
One last question for you Damdai…and I know it might be a delicate topic and I completely understand if you don’t want to answer…
Is it at all possible that you may possibly consider adding spectating to Supercade? Or is it A)simply too much of a technical hurdle to overcome at this time or B)Would put too much of a burden on the Supercade network?
Again I only ask because quite a few people have thrown the topic of spectating around, and it is something I’ve noticed you’ve never addressed and was wondering why?
edit:
Whoah I forgot about FBA now supporting Genesis roms. This is a good point! Genesis games particularly the MK games would be a welcome addition to Supercade IMHO
Project listen to me carefully my friend…Naomi, or ANY other type of 3D game will never EVER be added to either ggpo or Supercade. I know and talk to the devs of FBA and they have sworn on their mother’s grave never to add any 3D games to FBA emulator. They LOATHE them and want all 3D games to die in a fire.
This, by the way, also goes for the hardware board that runs all the arcade Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam games. So don’t expect those either, until your great great great grandson graduates from college.
Yes it’s disappointing and it sucks, but it, like many other things in life, is something we’re just going to have to accept.
If I had it my way ALL videogames would run in FBA
FBA is not the be all end all of emulators. Ponder for example is willing to use a second emulator besides FBA to get Naomi games running on GGPO
im sure damdai can do it too if he wishes.
the only problem with Naomi games right now: Nulldc, Makaron and Demul are all closed source.
Your claim that Ponder is willing to use other emus besides FBA is incredibly refreshing to hear. I don’t know where you heard this but I trust you got this from a reliable source. In any case that is certainly encouraging news and thanks for sharing it. If Ponder OR Damdai decides to add other emulators like say, Dolphin, PCSX2, Demul, ZSNES, or even MAME, then that will be nothing short of a huge fucking game changer and will change either 2DF or GGPO forever.
PLEASE dont add spectating, it rly hurts the players over a while when you have ppl coming and going for no reason…especially when a player is playing a good player and wants to have good games, its rly difficult to have that on ggpo due to 10-20 specs joining my game (its better to just stick to the replay save feature)
Damdai, for some reason when i finish my game, the save replay pop up comes up for like a second but then disappears…theres been a few replays that i would like to save but i cant due to this
spectating could be implemented like this:
when you create a session, there is a custom number of specs slots allowed (from 0 to 64 let’s say)… everyone hops in (including spectators) before the match starts and that’s it!
you can’t join spectating during a match in progress if you’re not there from the beginning. also if you don’t like to be watched by random people, you can just set the spectators slots to 0.
just because GGPO has unresolved problems with spectating, doesn’t mean spectating itself is to blame.
PS: damdai please, please add** filtering/sorting by country name/flag in the Users tab**… i would like to find more people from my country or neighboring countries
Isamu: spectating is just too much effort to add right now.
Wolmar: only open sessions are listed, meaning once someone joins a session, that session is no longer visible. This means most people are actually playing.
Blackshroud: I will spend today thinking about creating sessions for multiple games.
Nica: are you sure the window isnt popping up behind other windows? Sometimes it will pop up in front then immediately drop back.
Aquashark: ok.
I never said it was easy, 3s took like what 10 years? Im just saying someone needs to start now if they already started to continue their fine work.
Damdai, I apologize if I come across ungrateful. I really do, I just really liked the old format more thats all. I love 2df, i really do. When you love something you dont want something else to replace it.
isamu, I really dont want 3D games added to supercade or ggpo. I just really want SFA3U, CvS, CvS2, and MvC2 are just icing.
Damdai, is it possible that you could:
a) Add some sort of “Smoothing” option, similar to that of GGPO?
b) Add a pop-up window notification on who is accepting your challenge?
(a) is optional, but (b) is something I would really like to see.
a. Smoothing is automatically calculated based on your connection.
b. This already exists. When someone joins your session, the tray icon says “Soandso has connected. Launching game…”
Damdai thank you for answering the question and addressing the issue. You could have easily ignored it but you didn’t and I grateful for that, thank you.
Don’t sweat it bro. I completely understand. If the opportunity ever manifests itself to add spectating in a feasible and sensible way, I’m sure you’ll take a good look at it
Moving on, I would like to bring up a couple of things:
1)Ms. Pac-man does not have any sound. I am guessing it’s because you’re using a version of FBA that is still unable to run games in the Pac-man driver with sound. When you get a chance, can you please update the Emulator to at least a version that runs MissPac with sound?
2)I notice something different about the replay files that was not in 2DF…they are now named by the game that was played! That is a fantastic change! Thank you for changing that. However, when watching replays, it does not show the names of who is playing in the top portion of the screen, the way it did whilst watching them off the old 2df website. I’m curious, is there any way you can modify the emu so that it does show the names of the participants?
That would be nothing short of wonderful! Thanks again and keep up the good work
Ok, I got it working. My “TweakUI” program somehow caused the pop-up balloon to be blocked.
im positive
i always keep my browser about half screen size and my task bar on the side so theres no window overlapping any pop up, it just comes then poof disappears
Is the tray icon also disappearing?
