2015 UMVC3 SRK Tier/Theory Discussion. 7/10 First Page Tumblr: Power of snapback, Future power teams

I think Mihe and Rubeks are both players that almost surely rival yipes, unfortunately there is no way to really truly judge either way.

give it a rest mr ultimator, nobody in this thread is serious, they think strange is not trash

I called Jam Session against a SJ height Zero a few days ago and it just absored lvl3 buster.

Shit blew my mind.

Nah I run Vergil/disrupta/jam.
Crystal is honestly a waste of an assist. Jam lets you get round trip extensions and another neutral assist.

If you have Dante sitting in your corner you either use Jam or weasel shot.

Yeah that’s because each hit of the assist has 3 points of durability. If the buster hits during the first few hits of the assist it should easily nullify it.

Thor #1

I thought only vasaga thought that.

As for Dante doing low damage. No. 810k with one assist is fine damage and building two meters in the process for DHC which will kill most of the cast is normal. The only time his damage is bad is off of throws, or when using propshredder early in the combo.

His matchups are quite varied though. I think Hulk gives him a tough time. He does have anti-Hulk tools but the startup of those tools is why it’s quite hard to place them. Viewtiful Joe is a bad matchup imo, and so is Zero unless Dante is using Vajra. I think Vergil shits on him also. The best thing about Dante though is that he can DT to overcome matchups he doesn’t like.

Shot loops are impractical in tournament

Makes sense. MVC2 ROM was also.

That’s why you reset :sunglasses:

Dante is impractical in tournament. Jam Session however, is the pinnacle of practicality.

dante’s damage isn’t bad but getting good damage with dante is much more situational than a lot of other characters; this isn’t a good thing

it’s also not that easy to convert off of a lot of anti airs and air to airs into that great of damage either

what he brings to the table as jam session assist + a strong point, completely outweighs dante + strong assists / dhc’s

Which is fine since even as an assist he’s still plenty more capable than the majority of other assist/support tier characters when he comes out on point. If he’s anchor it’s very easy to switch him for different matchups in on point with the second character’s assists and go hard and get shit done also. Especially if he does better in matchups on point than the second character does.

I don’t put him as the anchor on my team because of the whole ā€œoh well fuck dante sucks better just hit A2 a lotā€. The whole point is that he’s basically like a heavier version of Strider as anchor that’s still very capable as a point character while also providing one of the best assists in the game. I like having 2 strong assists because it means you still get to have a powerful assist if one ends up getting bopped. I like teams where all 3 characters are capable in the neutral on their own for clearing up things like projectiles and generally just putting shit on the screen.

A lot of people like anchor Strider for similar reason. Strong assist, just need to learn to manage XF and he can do his own work in a majority of matchups. Plus Dante does completely better for damage without XF especially with meter.

dante has amazing air to air damage…J.M to air to S.M,H, S, J.H killer bee----he easily gets 700k from air to airs

i’ll have to disagree. zero+ jam plus vergil+jam is optimal.

anything else has more weaknesses

ok, FOR REALS anyone want to do a skype chat that i would stream/record onto youtube. mostly i will not say much but bad jokes and play tetris attack. so far i have 2 people interested [they are both from texas]

I’m done talking with the majority of people from Texas for the night. Thank you.

Not from my experience, but then again perhaps I’m spoiled by Dark Hole. Any touch I get that’s not a throw or requires me to go into propshredder is going to lead to death on anyone relevant. I don’t even need to do Clay Pidgeon loops all of the time because of the little bit of damage from neutral game.

I agree with your third point though, which is why that team is a Dormammu team and not a Dante team.

Yeah you can still have Dante play on point often without having the team be a Dante team. Everyone wants Dante to show up as this big point guy again, but like Strider…he just provides too much support where it’s kind of stupid to make him the first guy on your team or the guy you’re trying to have be the one do most of the work. Really due to Dante’s heftier damage output it’s a lot easier to do with Dante than it is with Strider.

Ultimately you have to make a team. The best way to make a team is to have him somewhat featured as a point in the second spot. That, or just have jam session support two people and have an anchor that uses XF and meter well for killing people off on his own.

dante and dormammu together actually seem pretty cool, although it seems like the slower startup on their moves would give them some matchup problems in general ;;; when it has meter it would be pretty scary though. who is optimal third there do you think?

im sorry you feel that way, i wanted more POVs
