It’s a great assist but it’s nowhere near the best, Dante team’s don’t even use Jam Session lol. Wesker/Dante uses Weasel Shot and Vergil/Dante uses Crystal (usually).
I don’t think I’ve ever hyped Phoenix, I’ve been saying snap her in since Vanilla.

Problem with Dante is that he’s kind of turned into a better version of Akuma or Hawkeye in that their assists >>>>> their abilities on point although they’re still pretty solid in that regard. Even though Dante is really good it gets hard to justify not abusing Jam Session as much as you can. Plus if he has a weakness it’s that he has a tough time dealing with the Wolverines, Spencers and Haggars of the world when it comes to start of the round shenanigans, but he can still manage.
On the plus side he has:
Some of the best movement (great ground and air dashes, teleport and flight mode in DT)
Can get pretty good damage and great meter build on most conversions and can convert from anywhere on the screen (most of the relevant cast is around the 800-950k range and he can easily get that with a DHC, and this isn’t even counting chip)
Nasty reset game using the grapple and can even force a guaranteed one with the right assists.
Big normals that take up a pretty good amount of space.
Pretty good projectile game with Drive, Hysteric, Airplay, Crystal, Weasel Shot, Acid rain and multilock. Not to mention Thunderbolt
On the downside:
Lack of damage off of throws
Lack of Speed on his normals and specials make him vulnerable to heavy rushdown
Can have trouble opening someone up if he doesn’t have an assist.
any damage problems can be solved via TAC or Vergil/Spencer and just about every character in the game would rather have assists than not, but SOMEBODY’S gotta be last and I would take my chances with Dante over at least 80% of the cast in that regard.
Ohhh no. I remember you specifically hyping up Phoenix way more than everyone else after Ultimate came out where everyone knew the meter thing would hurt her and you had her on the high ass pedestal still. TAC infinites help her back up a bit, but it’s still this character that has a ton of tech around beating her to the punch or beating her even after that. There’s plenty more ways to beat her outside of the snap any way dark or not.
The only Dante team that anyone remembers (ZMC) always uses Jam Session. Zero May Stride (which is finally getting some top player use) is always jam sess and Viper May Stride really shouldn’t be without jam session. Weasel shot is good but if you don’t have another AA assist on the team already, jam is the way to go period.
It’s not like there’s actually a lot of Dante teams in tournament any way. Like if you’re talking teams where Dante is meant to the be the point or center point character of the team. It really depends on who he is around. Althoug the higher the tier the characters he is around (particularly Viper and Zero), the more jam session becomes used over weasel.
One of the fastest recovering teleports, one of the best install hypers (not just for the mobility options it adds), a very easy to DHC out of Hyper for any character (seriously, that spinning lasts forever), some of the best solo incoming mix-ups(Acid rain alone puts him very high) are also pluses.
Cool, I don’t want a money match unless you want to or anything because I don’t consider this beef olol. I really just believe Dante loses to most good characters and would like to show how.
I won’t believe Danke on the Dante matchup until he beats Yipes cleanly.

HAWKEYE IS A POINT CHARACTER, NOT AN ASSIST CHARACTER.
He’s decent on anchor, but he’s not that great without X-factor when by himself. Triple Arrow is a great assist, but his abilities on point far outweigh the utility of his assist. His best slot is probably either second or first, but on paper it’s probably second due to his lackluster start of round.

I’d love to play Yipes, he would most likely beat me because he is a better player but at the same time I think I match up well against that team and have beaten people I think are on his level or even better. Won’t happen unless he comes to ufgt or some sort of bracket run in at evo since he seems to not do money matches anymore.
That’s just mean. At least give him Padtrick (does he even use Dante? can’t remember) or something. Somebody who only uses normals with Dante. Something fair.

To be fair, the only Vergil/Dante players I’ve seen using Jam Session are ZMC players.

I hyped a lot of stuff when infinites were new, and only a few people really even abuse infinites. Champ is still doing good too. Dante/Vergil/Wesker(Strider) and Wesker/Dante/Strider are pretty popular teams, Footwurk does good with Ryu + Weasel Shot. Zero/Dante is probably the only time I’d say you NEED Dante, and even then I think teams like Marn’s are fine. I still play Viper/Dante/Strider but that middle spot could be literally anything and probably help more in Viper’s bad matchups. Jam Session is good but not some god assist that every character needs or even wants, especially since you have to play Dante with it.

also jam session didn’t blow my mind until i learned that it absorbed medium durability projectiles. that shit just eats up piercing bolts and magnums. it’s insane!!
against a majority of the cast after a snap back you can put them in a completely inescapable situation that loops itself. even without that its a wall that makes about 2/3 of the screen in your control factoring in seismos. I can’t see how you don’t think that it is amazing for her.
You have to play Sentinel with Mag/Drones and you don’t hear Rayray complaining about that. Support is more important than how durp they are in XF when it comes to support characters.
Which bad matchups are you supposing for Viper any ways and what assist would surely be better? I’ve found jam session to help more with the majority of issues I’ve had in different matchups on top of giving her the best incoming mix up options. Have better start of round OS’s with the assist than most other assists also.
You could really say the same thing about missiles since there’s characters like Iron Fist or X-23 that don’t really need missiles or have a way to even protect it.
