Advocating Thor not having a tool for any situation and being anything else other than…you know a GOD is frowned upon.

How do you respond to xfc > 1 f command grab.
You respond by dying.
1 frame command grabs > regular grab
IIRC I thought because of the motion even if it is 1f, a regular grab will be done faster and beat the command grab. (this being air version)
Correct me if I’m wrong.
Suppose it depends on your assist, I’m on about an assist like Sent Drones where they’ll fall straight through after the first hit or Vajra where one extra rainstorm shot = too much hitstun to convert into anything significant. Anyways, point is his throws are ass and his start of round options aren’t good so Top 5 point is a little too generous
Well, its not true, the other player has to react too. In the worst scenario the other player will grab you and since you are mashing direction + H you will tech.
Yes… if you both go for it at the same time. But, like I said. If you start chest to chest with Thor, jump away from him.
All jumps are not created equal and most point characters’ jumps will take them out of the range of a “TK command grab” (especially since it’s a HCB motion which makes TKing and jumping forward more difficult) while sticking out a limb to hit him if (and likely when) it misses. Furthermore, the Thor player would have to gamble on an air command grab which has much more recovery and can’t be canceled into anything but super while a standard H limb is comparatively “faster” making it riskier than a typical throw. Then you have to take into account the fact that executing the motion isn’t “1 frame.”
Well at least some people seem to understand what I was getting at.
You can’t tk a move and have it come out as low as possible which increases the startup time because thor has to get to minimum height. Regular grabs don’t have this.
Also yeah if we are talking purely dive kick Thor could just block which is usually why I just wait till the start of the round and chicken block up back. I mean its not like THor has no options, Thor’s options just don’t cover situations as well IMO. Luckily he has so much health you can always take that guess and lots of people will have problems killing him
thor air command grabs have a lolrange above him. They get your character in situations where they probably shouldnt.
I don’t think it’s possible to input command grab faster than an opponents normal grab. Especially if they’re mashing something that OS. Then for your opening gambit to pay off you have to guess if they’re in the air or on the ground. As Thor his best option at the SoR is to hold back. You’re going to want to get away from the characters like wolverine mags or wesker. His buttons aren’t fast enough and the command grab stuff is too much of a commitment.
Yeah they ahve decent range above, but not that great range below. It still doesn’t matter though that people can air throw you faster than you can be air command grabbed. Of course you can just jump back a step to make the different up and Thor’s 1 frame grab has a bit more range. I haven’t tried the scenarios out to tell what the differences would be. It’d be interesting to see with a Programmable pad inputting 1st frame jump+throw first first frame jump+command grab how all the scenarios play out.
Also Im sorry if it sounds like IM just ragging on Thor. I think He can do stuff and has lots of good options against the cast. I just don’t think he is a great start of the round character. I feel like his best start of the round option is jump up back+airdash (as long you are out of hit range and call assist + mighty strike I like that alot.
Can’t he do YOLO mighty punish against idiots?
Little girly men scared of Hulk. Stryke goes right to Hulk’s chest at start of match, go BOOYABOOYABOOYABOOYABOOYABOOYABOOYABOOYABOOYABOOYABOOYABOOYABOO-ahcrapwhydidIgets.H’d?
Can you do it by command throw Rhino Charge DHC?
Hidden Haggar tech confirmed. New endgame team is Haggar/Strange/Doom
And he thought he was gonna slip it right under our noses.
I find it funny, that even when serious, I am still viewed as a troll. I guess that means I am succesful in my one goal in life.
You guys still underrating Wolverine and listing him as mid-tier? He has probably the easiest time opening his opponent up, some of the best start of the round options, solid damage, etc…
I know this thread doesn’t like using tourney results, (keep in mind I’m comparing equally skilled players) but, after watching Pr Rog maul his way through Fchamp, Marlinpie and Chris G at SCR, I think it’s also hard to say that he loses to heavy zoning/zoning
Quiet, Drew. You’re free to food.
I would say that’s more so the player than the character. I would say we do like using results to an extent as Morrigan is finally top tier like she should have been a while ago. The old tiering system would probably have never seen her in a top tier.
He may not lose to heavy zoning at the start of the round making him the easiest non theory based option for it. Although its not too difficult to say that once Wolvie gets lamed out it should be a wrap. Overall PR Rog isn’t doing much with point Wolvie that he couldn’t have done with Wesker who has a bit better of a time against the flood. Not greatly, but significant.
