2015 UMVC3 SRK Tier/Theory Discussion. 7/10 First Page Tumblr: Power of snapback, Future power teams

And you see Vergil is on that list. Yes, yes you do! It’s not in order by the way.
Now what characters should be played second? (Based off of incoming defense options, assists
DHC profit, or overall synergy.)

1.DOOM
2.DORM
3.MODOK
4.STRANGE
5.Storm
6.Taskmaster
7.Frank
8.Morrigan
9.Vergil
10. Wesker

How can i pick vergil for point , assist and anchor?

heroes and heralds

But ChrisG was the only person using Akuma on point. And he dropped him. How can you say Akuma is one of the characters you have to use on point if a total of 0 players use Akuma in that position?

What do you guys think of this shell: Crazy point with a speed-up super(wolv, firebrand)/TAC infinite character/Assist that works for both of them(ham session/cold star/drones/whatever)

Simple game plan of if they hit you, they get a 66% chance of killing you and getting 4-5 speed-ups to hit you again. If the point dies you can still have something like mag/drones or whatever you want. Maybe it’d struggle with Morridoom?

  1. Nova
  2. Joe
  3. Jill
  4. Thor
  5. Firebrand
  6. Trish
  7. Dante
  8. Spiderman
  9. Skrull
  10. Hawkeye/Deadpool

This is the theory thread, it’s my party and I can theory if I want to. Tell me what’s bad about AKUMA and his amazing walk speed, rapid fire lights, throw into high damage combos and the like?

Your getting into the boutique points now.

^

switch Akuma with Nova, Spencer with Spider-Man, and Vergil with VJoe.

neither Vergil or Spencer need to be on point. They are both built in DHC glitches, Akuma is an assist and beam hyper DHC first, a solid anchor, and doesn’t need to be the first character at all. Heck, the ONLY reason Chris ran him point in the first place was to keep Morrigan from getting bopped at the start of the round.

he doesn’t have to be. perhaps go back and word your post. the way it reads right now is basically “playing these characters on any position but point is stupid.”

Dante not even top 10 second, smh.

Pick Doom or Strange or you aren’t doing it right

I thought it read alot more like “you’re stupid if your point character slot isn’t occupied by one of these characters”

Vergil/Walmart/Missiles seems godlike.

Why bother. Strider/Dante is much better with those two and make vergil much more oppressive

This, I’ll concede on Spencer. He’s a DHC Glitch and as long as you have a decent assist in the back he’s more than just a threat once he comes in.
Incoming defense is a bit limited by on a momentum based team he’s golden. I’m up to put viewtiful joe in his place. Tempted to put the Skrull butt honestly he’s SOO much scarier with an xfactor 2 or higher at his disposal. Revised list of practical characters in different slots:

Point:

  1. Wolverine
  2. Wesker
  3. Magneto
  4. Zero
  5. Viper
  6. Dante
  7. TaskMaster
  8. Vergil
  9. Firebrand
  10. MODOK

2nd:

  1. Spencer
  2. Strange
  3. MODOK
  4. DORM
  5. DOOM
  6. Taskmaster
  7. Frank
  8. NOVA
  9. Magneto
  10. Dante

Anchor:
1.Vergil
2.Dante
3. Strider
4. Wesker
5. Akuma
6. Skrull
7. Phoenix
8. Magneto
9.Wolverine
10. Arthur

Walk speed only matters when you cannot dash, the small size of his normals is a much worse problem than how good his rapid fire lights are. the fact that he has no reliable option to counter hit throw tech attempts means his throw game isn’t as strong as characters like wolverine or vergil who have a great throw OS and can mix up anti air situations with great buttons or throws.

High damage is definitely a good thing, but there are plenty of characters with better neutral tools that do comparable and better damage. His poor set of normals is just too much of a detriment for him to be able to get anything done that a character with better normals/movement (Vergil, Magneto, Morrigan, Zero, Wolverine, and many more characters)

Really, if you look at his strengths in his toolset, you will see that he is outclassed. In the dash+normals category to control ground space, he is out of luck due to his small normals. Wesker controls the ground much more effectively, and that’s just one small example. Felicia, X23, Wolverine, and many more would beat him out in the ground game.
His ground tatsu actually has decent priority and is pretty good but it is punishable and it’s not going to be enough going up head to head against zero, wolverine, vergil, etc, and it isn’t enough against mobile air characters like Magneto , Morrigan, Doom, Zero, etc.

His air game isn’t that great either. While he has j downM that he can convert off of, and demon flip palm, these are both situational pokes that aren’t very safe due to their startup. His dive kick is actually not terrible but it can feasibly be airthrown out of startup, and even worse, be anti aired with impunity by a lot of the better characters in the game.
His air fireballs are alright, but his lack of mobility with them puts him way worse of a situation than Magneto with Mag blast, Morrigan with Soul fist/fly, and even Doom with photon shots

Where he shines is his beam super, which is a good threat against a lot of things. He doesn’t do as much damage with it as before when he had ridiculous damage on it + xfactor, but it still is a fast and damaging super that poses a threat to some zoning and assist calls.
His high assistless damage actually would make him less attractive to put on point, since a point character would like to have assists both for neutral and combos, and partners for DHC or TAC damage.

So I’ve recently picked up anchor Dante for my point Vergil. I believe Vergil/Mags/Dante is the best point Vergil team you can use.
Other optimized point vergil teams: Vergil/Mags/Dante, Vergil/Doom/Strider, Vergil/Wesker/Mags, Vergil/Wesker/Strider, Vergil/Dante/Akuma

I’ll give the top 10 slots list a shot:

If this is a list of optimal positions, no way should Wesker be second or anchor.

wesker second is nice if you dont have a strong anchor last.

wesker second is nice if you dont have a strong anchor last.

And that gives you terrible dhc’s for your point character and an otg assist with no use for your neutral.
Honestly the only time he should be second is with point vergil with an anchor beam.
