2013 Baseball Thread: ARod vs the MLB

People have been harping on Sabathia’s diet/weight for years, and it’s increased with his poor showing this year. The pitchers themselves may not care, but people absolutely do.

Babe Ruth diet is the new Atkins diet

Ellsbury…no…

EDIT: Wait, the deal is for $143+? On second thought, go ahead.

Almost $153 million…welcome to the Dark Side, Ellsbury.

Damn. He’s gonna get his ring while wearing pinstripes. Them Fenway boos gonna rain.

Boston can’t trust their damn Center Fielders.

yankees should grab coco crisp next somehow

lmfao. fuck you guys…you dont live in mass…the rain of shit on my feed yesterday. soooo much butthurt. “you werent a real sox” “you were in it for the money”…MUTHAFUCKER WHAT?! o.0

Yankees so mad lol “we gonna get under 189 million HURRRRR” rofl so fuckin mad spend that money SPEND ALL THE MONEY

No really I like Ellsbury and all but he’s not a 150 mil type player. Yankees mad as fuck right now, this isn’t how I want to see them start running the team again.

its less about them getting a ring but…how do we fuck up the sox. lol

Well if you’re going to fuck up the Sox by overpaying for one of their better but more brittle players, then please continue what you’re doing.

Hahaha wow ellsbury dafuq…you just ruined your boston legacy

So Cano is a no-go then?

Not unless he suddenly demands a lot less money.

This strikes me as a Steinbrenner deal more than a Cashman one. They really just need to let my man do his job.

def steinbrenner type emperor palpatine shenanigans.

The Ellsbury deal just shows what we already know. The Yankees…

  1. Use money as a crutch for their inability to develop talent.
  2. Have more money than literally any other team in the league.
  3. Give out bad contracts because they know they can get away with it.

Ellsbury is probably going to be booed lustily the same way Damon did. Has it coming, though.

lol i got friends tryin to figure out what to do with their “marry me ellsbury” shirts

  1. Plenty of homegrown talent on their previous title teams. Not the least of which happens to be inarguably the greatest closer of all time. Brett Gardner came up through the system, and I feel like Nunez could be a better player given more playing time after Jeter retires. I think you’re mistaking them for the Mets farm system.
  2. And I suppose they grow this money on trees then? It’s ok to be jealous of their grind just because your team can’t hold stacks like that, just admit it to yourself.
  3. This is your only valid point, and it’s more because Steinbrenners don’t let the people they hire do their damn jobs. Cashman is frequently at odds with them over some of their bigger signings, but in the end the owners get what they want.

I don’t think Ellsbury really gives a shit if he gets booed. Jumping sides like this doesn’t hold the same meaning anymore as it has in years past.

You sound like some typical post-2004 Boston fan. Haven’t won a World Series in God knows how long, so let’s boo Yankees that helped bring a title. Dude wants some money, let him walk. You act as if having a top 5 payroll makes Boston a team full of paupers.
