2012, Year of the Oil

Right, sorry. Was in a rush so I may have interpretated your post incorrectly. Good that you got your timing down. Let’s hope mk oil dive now has lk oil dive startup so you can continue with your shenanigans.

yea, my grammars pretty shitty to. I was wondering why people don’t use the lk super as a 1 frame grab on wake up. It’s a pretty hard thing to pull off, but god damn it seems like it would be unstoppable.

I wasn’t aware it was even possible to do uncrouchable with super. That said,it’s so obviously coming, a simple plinked wake-up c.mk would cause you to whiff and let them punish badly. Hardly worth the gamble, even if you can time it right. I wouldn’t bother.

Guy’s come on, you can’t uncrouchable with Super. Some of you need to start setting your training dummy to auto-block. Capcom deliberately adjusted the Supers properties so that this wouldn’t work.

Also Mordie’s right, it may be good and all against people who hadn’t seen it before, but it’s probable that you could just mash backdash and avoid it.

Anyway super will have a lot more uses in a week or so, try looking at proper applications for it.

Option select super should work on every character now, how about that? You wanna backdash? Nah son.

are you positive, because i swear to god i had my dummy set on crouch and i got him with a super.

I’m sure, I’ve tested it many times. Although the dummy is on crouch he has to be set on auto block. It will never work on a guarding opponent. It’s strange I know, but it doesn’t work, Capcom trolled us, so you’re best putting your time in somewhere else.

Oh. So that one time i super’d an ibuki on her wakeup wasn’t because of an uncrochable then. Probably tried to backdash or something.

Hakan with meter now is going to be even scarier than ever, not many characters can put you into a mix up from the start of the round, and I’m not talking about random slides at the start. The opponent has to worry about whether you’re going to dash in SPD, or maybe you might go for Hakan tackle and cancel into slide to pin them from the start. What about using slide not only to catch a backdash but to pin them by cancelling it if they block. You could even do forward dash into nothing, see a jump, and go with airgrab or jump mp to get the knockdown and start your offense. Even f.HK sounds like a good option if you don’t have meter, and want to go on the attack. So a ton of options. Hell you don’t even need to do this, you can back up and build more meter/oil if you like.

I was also thinking of the the applications of MK and HK dive now, here’s an example. You use f.mp to go under the jump in, usually you’d go with Oil Rocket, but MK rocket could be a good mixup, since it will catch standers, people attempting to throw, and also jumpers, while sailing over their head providing you’re away from the corner, same going for dash under resets. Just a thought. So mixing this up with jabs and oil rockets, you could have a very good mix up using what could be Hakans new go-to anti-air.

Just a week left!

I’ll be honest on this, I don’t think Hakan will be better, but rather the same in AE.

Oil up on start up gives you a fighting chance at the beginning and you better start doing either damage or keeping that oil on (after slide, oil dive/rocket ,etc.), cause once it’s gone, you’re back into AE Hakan.

I’ve had this feeling as well, but I think people are forgetting how big a change starting off with oil is. There’s no more running away at the start of a fight, or a need to play defensively. Hakan does most of his damage from knockdowns, and momentum. You now have all the tools at your disposal to get that knockdown, and start something up.

Anyway, keeping the oil, getting the knockdown and doing the damage, that’s all part of the skill, you do things right and you’ll see a difference.

If you ran out of oil, or messed something up, ask yourself how you screwed up, rather than calling the buffs inadequate.

Capcom can’t do anymore than give Hakan ten seconds of oil at the start of the round. I mean seriously, what more do you guys want? That’s a serious question because I honestly would like to know

Try and think of the positives here.

I will say that, even if you do end up with AE Hakan, as you know, there’s nothing wrong with that. I feel Hakan didn’t have a chance to shine due to the YYF factor. So with some buffs and a rebalancing, he’s got a better chance.

The only change I ever wanted was a 2 frame SPD. With Hakan’s 3 frame SPD, you play more on the how well you know the range of your oiled SPD than tick throwing.

The other changes are just gimmick stuff to me.

Found a goldmine of Hakan 2012 info, only problem is, it’s in Japanese.

I’m using google chrome, so I’ve been able to use translate, but shit is still hard to understand.

What I have figured out so far, I think, that they’ve adjusted MK Dive to 14 frames, while keeping HK at 22.

If anyone could help out here it would be appreciated!

Dang, I’m not familiar with the other moonspeak. Can’t translate what they said. So Ex dive is what we would use for our mk dive setups? Would that 1 frame difference matter?

Seems he is having troubles getting good dive setups.

Think he said sagat’s matchup’s not so bad, Sagat can’t punished whiffed dives…

That sucks. Somwhere halfway down the page there was some mention of invincibility bugs? Could someone check what that means?

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THIS!?

make hakan oiled 24/7 and look like Sarah Jessika Parker.

brb in 1 week… get rdy for hype

uncrouchable means not unavaideble in fakt they ddts are pretty easy to avoid… just hammer crouching jabs…

But crouching jabs lose to Oil Rocket, and meaty normals, all about dat mixup game.

Only 3 days left!!

Itabashi’s thoughts on 2012 Hakan

“Hakan is a lot stronger than before and a lot of interesting moves. I used him for a bit, really fun.
One thing I am certain is that he is not going to be a “strong” character. But if people don’t know the match up, they might die without knowing what really happened.”
