2012, Year of the Oil

Hmm, odd that they showed the sliding coward crouch as one of his big new things. Would rather have seen the faster super or oil dive. Either they think it’s a crazy new thing, or just thought it would go down well.

11 days to this game!? Man, where has time went. Gonna be doing dat research.

there showing what you can see, a slightly faster super isnt a big deal to look at. That whole funny ducking slide thing he has is pretty unique… and a whole new move.

Just realize something, once we sliding CC crossup whomever we are fighting, our vulnerable baggage of hurtbox is fully exposed to them. So no free invincibility from the other half of Hakan. I hope we can really use sliding CC as more than just a gimmick and maybe even trick them into the corner with the old switcheroo. I.E in the corner with oil, slding CC crossup a baited or predicted rekka, now Fei is in the corner instead of us.

start the match … >HK … ROCKET BITCH !!! fly me to the moon … and let me play amog the stars … :stuck_out_tongue:

the st.lp buff is huge … and acctually a game changer …
now being a dhalsim main … i know how that can really hurt dhalsim it’ll deffinatly improve the matchup … maybe into a 6-4 in dhalsim’s favor or slightly less considering the threat of the startup oil… man thats gonna be scary … dhalsims gona need to run … lol …

what makes the sim matchup so hard is that u cant really setup any rockets on him … and unlike the rest of the cast which have a 4 frame jump … dhalsim’s jump has a 3 frame start up … having a string like st.LP, st.LP st.LP completely traps him in the corner… not to mention the frame trap possibilities … and if you’re oiled … hell …

im really happy for hakan … but still bummed about the frame data on cr.HP … i think that was uncalled for … i love that poke … its great for whiffing jump ins and safely closing gaps some times … its gonna hurt …

Cr.H should be safe on hit unless fighting against Gief or Hawk, but they don’t focus much. I hope on block we are far enough to be somewhat safe as well, like Fei pre 2012 2nd rekka on block safe (still can be punished but with Akuma sweep).

I had read somewhere that Hakan was not going to be as weak to jab wake up or something like that as much now. Is this true cause cr. jab on my oil dive wake up is making me sad face alot on the game. Also that slide went right through ryu in vid. Does that mean I could do it to say Honda or rog and make them lose their charge?

Ha, if they removed the vulnerable box on his feet and legs during oil dive startup it would be too godlike.

not quite …
any opponent with a 3 frame mormal or reversal can stuff it ,… hell given the right range he can even be thrown…

it would only be safe on hit (excluding normal throws) vs … abel, c.viper, rufus, hakan (without oil or ultra 1) …

the move is basicly shit now …

still would be useful for gap closing and whiffing jumpins i suppose … meh …

i still think this nerf was not needed at all

Yeah, pretty peed off about the cr.hp nerf, seriously why? ''Oooh it’s now a two hit move we better make this even worse on block AND hit!

Oh well we can only really know the differences until we get the game in 10 days.

All I know is that ten seconds of oil at the start means I can’t and shouldn’t really be negative about anything.

i liked the move and realy hope its a mistake and its still good on hit… well we see…

Is Hakan the only character with a jab that is +4 on block? Wonder what ambiguous setups can we use with that. I think he needs his jab to be +6 on hit for easier and consistant links, but we know that isn’t going to happen despite the other grapplers having their jabs +6 and +7 on hit and chainable.

What kind of ambigous setups are you thinking of getting from a better frame advantage jab?

The way I see it is that this buff is just going to make jab more reliable for pinning someone down.

And remember although Hakans links are tricky, it’s a simple premise…the more you practice the easier it becomes.

I’m itching to try the sliding coward crouch. There’s actually a load of applications (in theory) for this. Sliding under pokes? Dashing into CC on wakeup to bait reversals? Ambiguous crossup slides which we’ve already seen…it might just be a gimmick at the end but in my eyes there’s some interesting stuff that could be used for it, it depends on the difficulty of doing it, I saw a japanese Hakan trying it and it took him a while to get it down, and even then it was a bit hit or miss for him.

Also remember that CC isn’t vulnerable at the head or feet, so it isn’t the easiest to punish with jabs or shorts.

But whatever it’s all theory talk just now.

Yo. I know I’ve been away (too much UMvC3 & KoFXIII) and havent touched SF in over a month now, however come Dec 13th @ 3AM EST. AE has my undivided attention. Time to shut some people up with the Oil King.

The trick with c.hp has always been to do from max range to push them back far enough, so it’s hard to counter. Plus, it’s a good move to whiff with, because it looks like a slide and allows for ultra 1. I suspect if we are -3 on hit, it won’t be that bad, unless they have a super to punish us with.

Hmm, it’s kind of like cr.hk in a way when you think about it, now that thing is a whopping -11 on block, but it’s decent enough to throw out there as a counter poke without really worrying too much since it isn’t easy to punish from a good range out. Maybe we should look at cr.hp in the same way, even though it doesn’t knockdown and I’m still a little bit salty with the change, lol

I’ll grit my teeth and accept it…

…at some point

Hmm I don’t know why but I don’t feel much excitement around here at the moment, we need to get that 2012 spirit back. Yes he lost a few buffs but the most important one is still there.

Maybe this will help.

Actually if you check about 5:41 the Hakan player actually uses cr.hp which is blocked, and the akuma, who’s no mug, fails to punish on this occasion. Maybe it won’t be ***so ***bad.

Still salty tho.

think of it this way Drew… use it more during Akuma / Dictator MUs, like you use Oil Dives more in the Zangief MU.

Actually just after that he does it again and SHIT that looks so punishable! A smart player won’t let you get away with this!!

WHY CAPCOM, WHY!? U GIVE US AN EXTRA HIT IN EXCHANGE FOR HORRID FRAME ADVANTAGE FROM ALREADY BAD FRAME ADVANTAGE!?

YOU THINK THIS NORMAL WOULD HAVE BEEN OP!?

good thing you made him start with oil shakes fist

well one normal less to use  maybe its cacable after the first hit???

wait and see but if jab is +4 its a good trade this is new and it allows SAFE JABS bevore you need to hitconfirm the jumpin jab since jumpin JAB JAB was soo punishable that you just dont want do it… now its +4 and the enemy is pinned down even if he blockes that allows mixups with grabs and delayed combos into slide as well as mixups into DDT (SAVE SINCE JUMPOVER???)

if i can now use the c.hp anymore its a fair trade but still i see no sence in nerving it… -3 is hughe on hit… its like Zangiefs GH noone use it anymore to archive a hit instead it is used to move forward quick and save… maybe capcom wanted this for this move…

I don’t thinkcC.h travels that far even with oil as compared to the green glove. The only benefits of it to cover distance rather than using f.mp is that it can be done holding down back and it can probablyt stuff some attacks if the startup isn’t an issue.

That video was the beta testing, right? So since then to now, that ch hp could have been anything. I mean we don’t know if ch hp was -3 on the beta version. It looks alright when he does it, but I kinda got the impression that the Akuma Player wasn’t sure what to do after the move was throw out there.
But That Hakan player was tight. Seems to know the charecter very well. Anybody know who it is? I was thinking maybe Wildcat, but he’s style seems a bit differnt. And I’m sure that Capcom got somebody who was already a pro Hakan player to teste the changes. Over all, I can’t wait to try this new Hakan on my High Tier loving friend. I already give him a hard time, now I think he’s just going to be crying most of the time
