Negatives - Cr.HP is a two hit move, but they changed it to -3 on hit!? And -6 on block? What kind of a trade off is that?

Positives - 9 frame Super! Wtf.

Oil shower from slide has more of an incentive to use now I guess as it gives you an extra 1 and a half seconds

LK Dive 9f, EX frame 19f? That’s faster than MK dive was. But they haven’t listed MK and HK dives, so I’m guessing they’re still the same? Hmm.

Oil slide with oil shower giving you a bonus 30 for your super meter? Maybe they’re equalling it with the slide - press? Man they really want you to use this more though, I’m liking it.

So that’s the new stuff, Super sounds ridiculous now…matching the buffed LK Dive speed

Shame about Cr.Hp, that move was neglected…but that change doesn’t really entice me to use it more.

I hope the oil dive is just a stun reduction but they probably did reduce the damage sadly.

@jiuplayer - I’m really happy with that buff, so many times you try and pin someone with jabs, but if your timing is slightly off you get mashed out with jabs or cr.lks This is a big change

Yeah, can’t say I’m a fan of what they’ve done. It was usable before, but not abusable. We’ll have to wait and see, maybe the pushback has been increased with the two hits but I doubt it.

Yeah, I’m just guessing with the buffs Oil Dives have gotten, they’ve made another trade off by reducing the amount of stun and/or damage it does. No more 250 damage oil dives? :frowning:

The positives outweigh the negatives anyway, buffing stand jab has came out of nowhere. 9 frame Super means you can scout that shit for people who cant handle your pokes or who are jump happy, lol. But 9 frames? Haha, might have to bring out turtle Hakan for that.

i was thinking of something tho…
since its 2 hits now … wouldnt punishing a focus be a counter hit? making it in acctual fact -2 ? that might actually be good especially at ranges where the 1st hit of st.HP would whiff … just a thought …

as for the dive speed changes … i think that means we gotta learn new setups … >__> lol

Interesting. The Lp Jabs kinda came from nowhere. But I’m digging it. I thought it was great to begin with so this is fantastic.
I’m having a hard time beliving Ch HP is -3 on hit. That has to be a mistake. Maybe it’s actually +3 on hit?
The Super should be a lot more viable now with jump happy mothers. Hmmmmm I’m sirprised they didn’t make the Oil dive/Super Fly over EVERY BODY!! I’m thinking the big guys, but come on CapCom, just make it everybody ya? Oh Baby, I love the sound of this " when the medium or hard version is executed at close range. Removed hurtbox around arm at startup."

It’s still a game to remain oiled up. The start of the match is a gamble. You either get enough chances made to continue applying or oil, or you end up failing those chances and become dry again. Then it just turns into an uphill battle again. I still don’t like the concept of a character relying on inputing a move to be viable, but I suppose having a psuedo parry and sliding capabilities is probably a good enough motive to use him.

Does coward crouch still move if used after an oiled dash?

Dang it would suck if there is no changes to mk and kh oil dives. Still happy with the buffs though, enough to make me feel better about the slight additional nerf to fei’s initially perfect rekkas. Seriously people are scrubs if they can’t punish a -6 frame 2nd rekka on block with the less pusback.

I wonder whom would Hakan not fly over. It better not be the characters he already is able to fly over like blanka or ibuki. That would really suck since it means nothing changed. I hope the extended jumping lk hitbox really shows, it sucks that due to hakan’s short height jump most of his jumping normals won’t hit oponnents like seth due to them being to high up to reach.

Wow, I was REALLY banking on those changes to MK and HK Oil Dive start up. Other than starting Oiled, the faster MK and HK Oil Dives were my biggest source of hype…because it would have basically meant that all his old uncrouchable setups did more damage. Coupled with MK and HK flying over crouchers, that would have been something pretty major. It would have made his uncrouchable Oil Dive game more legit, and not just a gimmicky gamble.
Man, I’m starting to question whether this was enough to help Hakan in the long run, considering how LOTS of characters got some good buffs. I wasn’t expecting them to nerf ANYTHING for this character. That really took me by surprise.

Where’s the slippery coward crouch? Where’s canceling into coward crouch from dash? Why doesn’t his oil dive go over ALL characters?

A TRUE BLOCKSTRING…

A…blockstring? Never in my Hakan life had I ever heard such a word. Indulge me with this blockstring you speak of. Sounds so foreign to the turkish men of oil. Anyway, I was thinking of lp being +4 on block making it a much more useful for surprise tick grabs since we only have to wait for 1 frame before for them to get out of blockstun.

Crouching fierce now having the same frame disadvantages as cr.mk but unable to follow up with anything else. Not seeing it being very useful even against FAs and could possibly be a nerf against shotos and Feis.

I just hope a 9 frame super allows me to catch Seth dive kicks. What do you guys think the extended lower grab box of his oil dives allow him to catch? Its not gonna grab crouching people for sure. Since there isn’t any extended grab box upwards, lk oil dive won’t be much of an anti-air in short distances like yun lk and maybe mk dive kicks since they are most likely gonna get hit hakan out of it (Capcom remove the hurtbox around the arms for Super instead of the regular oil dives when the super already has invincible properties?).

No. The biggest change is starting oiled. Without that, the rest of this stuff wouldn’t amount to anything.

In a game with no backdashes, this would be god like.
In a game with backdashes and focus > backdashes, that just doesn’t excite me as much as it excites you.

Also, it’s only a “TRUE BLOCKSTRING” if you’re good at hitting unplinkable one-frame links over and over and over again.

Better frame advantage is nice, but I’m tired of trying to get hype over small stuff like this. Remember AE? OMG Hakan is getting an actual hit-confirm combo! He’s going to the top baby! No. OMG, he can stack oil in AE! It’s the year of Hakan! No.

Remember, Hakan isn’t the only person getting buffs. A large portion of the cast is getting good stuff, too. Considering where Hakan already was relative to everyone else, and considering all the changes that EVERYONE has received (not just Hakan), I have to wonder if it was enough. We’ll see…

My current opinion on Hakan AE 2012:

im talking about the NEWEST changes that he get oiled the whole round is old news!! But +4 is NEW news…^^
and thats something BIG but i see the bigger picture like you im not sure its enugh to move him up in the tier class to be tournament valid^^

If Hakan isn’t valid in tournaments starting every round off oiled, then he’ll never be valid. Time to step up.

Now i’m not saying Hakans going to smash up every tournament now, no way. All I’m saying is, with that buff, what more do you want? It’s up to the players now.

We should give it time to see how things pan out…

pssshh, he can always be better. I say delete the oil up move, just make him oiled always, give him a shoryuken and make him look like meg ryan 2006.

Oiled Start (if we assume a normal fight goes for about 40s then he is oiled for 25% of the time for SURE!!)
ANTI AIR SUPER (Finaly a devastating antiair SOLID!! and he build meter like crazy!!)
Blockstring (not as solid as it could be but solid enugh i played gief bevore and his c.lk was NO true blockstring but -1 but not even the pros tryed to mash or time a SRK betwean since its to risky!! SO ITS SOLID!!)

and maybe some good “streight air to air moves”

but like i told my eyes are wide open he still lacks something im pretty sure he gets much better but im not sure if its enugh to move in A-B Tier Class^^

Looking forward to ambiguous coward crouch crossups. That’s exactly the kind of gimmick I can get behind.
