To not have a good QB behind VIck is suicide this year I think.
I know my RB’s are weaker, but at #6 I missed the first run. At #14 I just missed Gore, Mendenhall, and Turner.
SJax and Forte are great PPR backs, and I think I may get great value on williams and ingrahm.
The league doesn’t have a flex. It’s 3 WR and 2 RB.
pick#6 Vick
pick#15 White
pick#26 S.Jackson
pick#35 H. Nicks
pick#46 M. Forte
pick#55 J.Maclin
pick#66 D. Williams
pick#75 T. Romo
pick#86 S. Johnson
pick#95 M. Ingrahm
pick#106 T. Moeki
if you’re wasting a top pick on vick you have to go all in on him, not hedge your bets by wasting a pick on a solid backup QB…btw how the hell did romo slip to #74? He should be gone by pick 50.
Eh. If you look at last season, if you had vick, you probably won you league, but you needed a QB to at least get you 2-2 in the games he missed. I think he’ll probably play 12 of 16 games, and be the best QB in football in those 12.
I don’t really think a good backup QB in round 8 is nessesarily a “wasted pick” if you have vick who stands a moderate chance of getting hurt. It’s like handcuffing your #1 RB.
If you can get romo at 74, you take him. It was a live draft, so ESPN wasn’t hounding people to take this or that player, so certain players slipped. Romo was one of them.
Romo at #74 is not a waste at all. Was this a 10 man league? I think so but your draft #'s don’t match up. If you were pick 6, you should be picking on 5’s on the way down, ie 6, 15, 26, 35 etc.
What WR you gonna use for Maclin to start? Since he is still battling with that unknown illness from spring and Philly said he won’t be ready by week 1.
EDIT: Nvm just read he had surgery and is feeling fine now. Still wondering if he will be ready week 1 since he hasnt practiced though.
The way some Philly fans are talking on message boards, Philly’s offense won’t even take the field because every one of their points will come off of Pick 6’s.
I know marshawn lynch had that beast game but I really don’t see him doing much this year. Yet silly yahoo has him listed at 56. Someone wants to trade Hightower for him and I am debating on taking that up…
But I’m gonna go out on a limb and say he’s projected pretty high due to not being in a RB committee. Since the NFL is turning that way, RBs like Lynch would otherwise be projected pretty high despite having relatively average years.
While we’re on the subject of drafts, I participated in a couple mock drafts yesterday on ESPN, which I always feel is a good thing for anyone to do. I know people usually have strategies going into a draft, but being unprepared for certain types of drafters can somewhat mess your draft up – for example, some people are pretty QB heavy in the first round, some drafts all the RBs are taken in the first round and a half, or people are really WR heavy in the second round and leave a lot of QBs on the board. Check out the following teams I drafted:
Draft 1 (I drafted 4th):
** (4) Team D - Chris Johnson RB
** (21) Team D - Steven Jackson RB
** (28) Team D - Peyton Hillis RB
** (45) Team D - Tony Romo QB
** (52) Team D - Steve Johnson WR
** (69) Team D - Pierre Garcon WR
** (76) Team D - Chad Ochocinco WR (I think he’s a big sleeper this year)
** (93) Team D - Sam Bradford QB
** (100) Team D - Mike Williams WR
** (117) Team D - Matthew Stafford QB (Not even sure I remembered picking up a backup QB 2 rounds before this)
** (124) Team D - Mike Sims-Walker WR
** (141) Team D - Stephen Gostkowski K (Pats will score a ton of points this year)
** (148) Team D - Rashad Jennings RB
** (165) Team D - Dustin Keller TE
** (172) Team D - Giants D/ST D/ST
** (189) Team D - Aaron Hernandez TE
Realistically, I’d try and trade Stafford/Bradford for a backup RB/WR. But otherwise, my RB combination would completely destroy teams in most standard leagues.
Draft 2 (I drafted 6th here. IMO the worse place to draft is in the middle)
** (6) Team D - Maurice Jones-Drew RB
** (19) Team D - Michael Turner RB
** (30) Team D - LeGarrette Blount RB
** (43) Team D - Brandon Lloyd WR
** (54) Team D - Matt Ryan QB
** (67) Team D - Mario Manningham WR
** (78) Team D - Pierre Garcon WR
** (91) Team D - Mike Sims-Walker WR
** (102) Team D - Dustin Keller TE
** (115) Team D - Kevin Kolb QB
** (126) Team D - Rashad Jennings RB
** (139) Team D - Patriots D/ST D/ST
** (150) Team D - Stephen Gostkowski K
** (163) Team D - Donald Driver WR
** (174) Team D - Derrick Mason WR
** (187) Team D - Tony Moeaki TE
As you could probably tell, people in this league snagged WRs like crazy right off the bat.
What people do in a mock draft and an actual draft are different. People do not take mock drafts seroiusly so they pick for whatever they want. Different leagues have different rules to, so some leagues might value a WR more then a RB.
I’m drafting 6th in my most serious fantasy football league ($150 buy in, so much bigger pot for top 3). At 6, I would probably draft Mendenhall assuming Foster, AP, Rice, Johnson, and Charles gets drafted. I’m hoping Rice slips but I doubt it. I’m hesitant on McCoy (Ronnie Brown will probably get goal line), McFadden (just got injured/Bush is still goal line), and MJD (not feeling it for him this year) for #6.
