Super Yan is right, Starslay3r is right, everyone is right but I actually support the female tourney just because its a stepping stone to get girls out there to take games more seriously than they already do. Like even if there are some girls that have taken it seriously before SF4, it helps the new generation. If you haven’t noticed, most of the new competitors are new. Male and female. I know a lot of females from EC tourneys that do not post here but they are excited for this event. Not because it gives them a better chance to win, but it helps them for a morale boost. The first time someone does well in a tourney no matter what the limitations are, it helps. Even if some people does not believe that, not everyone is the same. When MVC2 was its prime, a lot of people did not enter tourneys because I was in it. So I was soft-banned. The result of that was that they got better and now they do not mind if I enter the MVC2 tourneys.
So I believe that this female tourney will give females who usually wait hours and hours something to do while waiting for their boyfriends or group they came with. But it can also spark a flare in them for wanting to get better and take fighting games more seriously. If Sports can have a women and men leagues, why can’t fighting games. Even FPS games have a womens league and it does really really well. In FPS, Women teams enter in the main tournament and the all-female tourney. I know that some people will be against it, but don’t ruin for other people. Just ignore it and enjoy EVO. EVO has been doing this before I was on the scene and I started in 1999. I enjoy every year of it. Even though I was from EC, and there were rivalry, EVO Staff have been fair and just to everyone. They want EVERYONE to participate and enjoy EVO.
Since it’s about giving people who are bad a confidence boost, where’s the tournament for the bad people with a penis?
I still think we need to have a tournament with men with beards only. Mr. Wiz would verify this by checking the beards length and to see if it is real. And then there could be a side pot for best beard. I am down.

Yeah I think the femme fatale tourney is a bad idea, I really hope you’re not dividing up prize money for it. I can speak from experience that girls suck at games. We’re never as good as the guys, so why would anyone waste their time watching g3 sf4? Might as well make it a bikini tourney. It’s just a spectacle that says ‘women can’t win unless they’re the only ones competing’ and I have to agree.

I’d say an all female SF tournament is certainly more likely to get media coverage than almost any other tournament at Evo besides main SF4
I half agree and am half offended. I agree that girls aren’t good at games. Yeah there are girls who play, more than there were 2 or 3 years ago, and there are girls who can beat guys in casuals and in touranment. But until we see girls placing top 8 or OCVing in team tournies, running a tournament like this is a joke. It’s like having a “prettiest dog” contest for Chinese Cresteds.
I’m kinda offended that you said “we’re never as good as the guys” because it sounds like you don’t have any hope. Look at Japan and other countries… girls can be just as good at guys at games (and pretty much everything else). Honestly the goal of this tournament is the same as mine: to help female gamers get to that level and maybe increase our numbers; I just think doing it this way is creating more harm than good and might actually be a step backward.
Honestly, the girls who entered the ladies of SFIV tournament that AI had months ago… have any of them been so inspired after that tournament that their skill dramatically increased? It’s been months since that tournament and, recently I went down to SoCal for Triple Threat, they featured another “ladies only” tournament and I only saw like one or two girls who entered the AI tournament at that Triple Threat tournament. So yeah there were girls playing but it seemed almost like a completely different group, save for a couple. Honestly, I expected to see StarSlay3r, Naomi, Sherryjenix, J4YJ4Y, Miyuki, Teresa, etc, etc, entering that shit, having leveled up since the last tournament but maybe the AI tournament didn’t give them the sort of motivation needed to continue the game, at least competitively. -___-

Im realy surprised you guys are still complaining about this realy i am. it realy seems to me like their is nothing to complain about if you wanna do it then do it if you don’t then don’t. I don’t see the issue here but i guess some players rather complain all day right. it does seem like a constant theme these days is to shoot down any new ideas for fighting games before you even get a shot to see them but like i said some players just love to complain…
