People say it is easier adding PlayStation 3 support to existing Xbox 360 because of Cthulhu.
But to me, it is same whichever way.
Soldering is soldering.
Wiring is wiring.
Hacking triggers is the only thing that makes it harder imo.
hey guys, just finished my dual mod with a ps2 controller and a 4716 madcatz controller. im experiencing quite few issuesā¦
first off, there is some input lagā¦ i havent tested it on a ps3, but while playing ssf4, i noticed a very slight delay, just noticeableā¦
secondly, my Xbox guide goes off like crazy. i dont know why. my case is on my lap, and it just goes on and on, xbox guide, console shutdown, etcā¦ i checked all connections, none of them are loose. =/
Alright so I have searched around for the answer, but it seems like everyone went about it a slightly different way than I am planning it.
My goal is to have a ps1 wire sticking out of my Mad Catz Tournament Edition stick, as well as my 360 wire. So I have a ps1 controller and obviously my TE taken apart, and I have about 20 wires with the ends stripped, some solder, and a soldering ironā¦ Now what?

Now from what I understand I need to solder the red points in the second image to the corresponding points in the third image 1k=x 2k=circle etc. Then I get a little confused from there. Which ground in each picture am I supposed to connect? is it the red circles in the first image to the label GND on the third picture? Or to the GND near the directionals? Also do I need to connect the 5v from the third image to the 3.3v in the first image? Is there anything after that I need to wire?
You can use any Ground.
The whole giant green thing is Ground.
Connect 5V to 3.3V, yes.
If I had a 360 SE PCB and I wanted to put it into my PS3 TE for a dual PCB setup would it be an easier process than a standard dual PCB operation orā¦ exactly the same?
Same.
Connect Ground.
Connect Power.
Connect Buttons.
Connect Directions.
Add Imp or DPDT Switch to control USB.
Or not use Imp and not use DPDT Switch to have two USB cables.
Itās the same in that you still have to solder and stuff, but easier because the stick has mounts for the 360 pcb, and you donāt have to prep a pad at all to do the mod. If youāve got the mic port from the 360 pcb, itās pretty easy to add that on, too, if youāre going to be playing on xbox live.
Couple pics of mine. Iāve done this twice. Itās not that difficult if you know how to solder, but Iād suggest making sure you have some kind of desoldering tool. The contacts are kind of close together, and itās a lot less stressful knowing you can easily pick up any solder that causes a short.

I didnt know if there was a way to easily splice the wires toether because they use the same wire harnesses and stuff.
I can solder so I suppose iāll be able to do it.
Thanks for the answers
You wire ground, power and the joystick leads to the bit of the PS3 PCB that is sticking out. For the buttons, you can either solder them to the QDs, or you can pull up the terminal strip, and thereās contacts on the bottom you can solder to.
So, if I happen to have a PS3 Fightstick TE and get a hold of a 360 Fightstick TE PCB it is pretty straight forward?
Yes.
Get a switch of some sort if you donāt want 2 USB cables coming out. DPDT or Imp. Usually better, so you donāt accidently power both and cause chaos.
Thanks
Iāll try to decide if I want to go with the DPDT switch or the Toodles Imp. The Imp does sound sexy. This will be my first soldering mod though so Iām a little scared. Iām great mechanically and can do most things, but Iām a soldering noob.
Is one far easier than the other when considering DPDT vs Imp for a soldering noob?
Hrmmm, looks like it is more of a choice of whether or not I want to go with a DPDT switch and have to modify the case to install the switch or go with the Imp for a case modification free process. $2 vs. ~$15 with shipping
psx and te dual mod
ok, so Iām dual modding my psx H pad with my TE based on this diagram and Iāve got pretty much everything figured out except for where to wire the 5v and 3.3v.

I saw this picture and was wondering if those are the same ground and 5v as in my pcb and if I should use those. Also should I just solder to the pins on the reverse side? Should I be using the 3.3v instead and the 5v on my TE?
Connect +3.3V of PlayStation PCB to +5V of Xbox 360 PCB.
Ok thanks and any ground will do right?
Yes, and any Ground point from PlayStation PCB will go to any Ground point on Xbox 360 PCB.
So, I hooked up a PSX Dualshock to the FS3 Hori PCB, and it seemed to work fine (in Fate/Unlimited Codes, Guilty Gear, and 3S). However, when I tried playing a game that allowed analog (Melty Blood), it was permanently sending an up left signal to the console. Even when the stick is unplugged, the signal is still constantly being sent to the game. So I plug in the stick, the character starts jumping up back, unplug the stick, and the character still jumps up back for the next couple seconds if the stick is plugged into the 1P slot. However, if the stick is plugged into the 2P slot, the character jumps back endlessly. I figured out that this was most likely the analog being weird because if analog inputs are turned on in GG, then the same problem happens.
Any help?
