So, I took apart my stick just to take a look and it seems easier to do than I originally thought. I am curious though…
When using a wired 360 controller, don’t the buttons make contact directly with the PCB? Would you just hook a couple of wires from the button to where it would make contact on the PCB? Also, I see reference to connecting the 5v input between the two cards. I’m mostly just curious why this is even necessary when using two seperate USB cables for whatever system you using anyways.
you only need to hook up one wire to each of the button’s contacts.
Connecting the 5v is so you dont have to use two seperate usb cable. You add a DPDT switch to the D- and D+ wires so you can switch between the stick being used for 360 or ps3.
Official microsoft ones will work, just have to make sure its a late version one. From what I’ve noticed, if the gray plastic on the bottom is dull then it is common ground, but if its silver then its not common ground.
late model wired is common line, which will not work. late model wireless is common ground. maybe it’s possible to have wired ps3 side and wireless 360 side lol?
when searching for the common ground with my meter, do i need to have power to the board? when i was using the continuity function it seemed like i was getting continuity only when the pcb was powered. i have a aftermarket 360 mad catz pad that i was wiring up. (i’ve actaully already wired to individual grounds already just to be sure but it’d help for my next build). thanks.
thanks to everyone in here, especially toodles I managed to wire up a madcatz 360 pad inside my hrap3 with an imp and everything worked perfectly right away. Those little usb wires are SUCH a pain though. I ended up wiring 360 guide button to the select button and the 360 select button to one of the 4th buttons (3p) since I decided not to wire the triggers. I need to find a better way to mount those rumble motors though. i love srk!
I might just use the select button, but it irks me to no end that it won’t work…
I had an electrical tech at work help me solder, but he tried to take some shortcuts, so I am redoing the whole thing… a bunch of buttons had signal and ground mixed up from the hrap and the wiring was ghastly, crap going every which way… I’ve sorted everything out, snipped off all the QDs and am going to make it look pretty…
I’m also pretty sure at least one button is shorted as the solder seems to have jumped the gap on the xbox pcb… is there any way to fix this easily? I thought I could scrape away a bit of the ground side away from the solder joint… Any advice welcome…
I have received a true arcade PS3 and Xbox 360 joystick that has a Happ Perfect 360 stick (it has a switch to toggle ps3 and xbox 360). it comes from Arcade in a Box.I find this very stiff and would like to change this.
I have opened the stick and saw the cthulhu kit inside and have taken steps to order the Sanwa JLF TP8S with the wiring harness.
I have searched the net and found many diagrams and I am still struggling to find a clear cut answer. The wire harness has 5 wires: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Black.
I know where the Red Orange Yellow and green will go on the cthulhu.
Can I plug the Black wire into the GND (Ground) part of the Cthulhu?
Is this possible? ?or will I have to daisy chain it like every chart seems to be pointing?
I did a dual mod using a DPDT switch on a Madcatz PS3 SE. The 360 pcb i used was a madcatz controller. This is AlexMan from SDT’s stick.
i screwed it down on the bracket where the 360 SE pcb normally goes by the mic jack. also i found it easier and a little cleaner to solder onto the terminal strip rather than the main pcb where the turbo/home buttons are.
I am having MASSIVE problems… I cannot figure this out…
I have it wired correctly from what I can tell, and have the following problems…
only up works on joystick
LB/L2 register right
RB/R2 register left
LT/L1 and LB/L2 register down
I have NO idea how this is even possible as the directions are not wired to the freakin buttons!!! i’m going crazy here…
because of a cluster of a wiring job by a tech at work, which I have fixed, the ground from both pcbs is going into a terminal block, and the ground comes out of the block and is split to the joystick and button daisy chain…
the wiring is such a mess there is no real way for me to take a pic…
i honestly don’t see how the buttons are registering directions when they are wired to the buttons, not the directionals…
