Looking forward to any explanations in regards to a 360 PCB into a HRAP3.
iām no expert, but i donāt see any reason to wire the ground and power cables from pcb to pcb if youāre gonna use a different cable for each system. each pcb will get power from itās own source, there is no need to connect the power between the two.
i think this has been stated by toodles as well in this thread.
I suggest you reread what Iāve written then.
Thats what i was hoping to do but i thought someone stated that this could fry one of the boards if the power and ground are not both connected. Im not certain though.
Ok so I have Toodles PS3 board and a hacked mad catz MicroCon 360 board and they both work on their own. (I just tested the 360 and itās working perfect so far thanks to the advice I got here) What I want to do now is put them in the same Stick and use just one USB cable. I have a terminal strip and a project box ready to go. I just need to know if this diagram (see below) applyās and will work by just removing one of the usb cables. I wanted to just clip the wires off the 360 controller and use the UBS form the PS3 board. But before I make any rash decision 's I wanted to check here first.
this should help. he explains it better than i could and itās already typed.

So the short answer is I need a toggle switch if want to have just one cable . For some reason I though I could do it with out a switch.
So I was trying a 360/PS3 dual mod with toggle switch last night. I attempted a āhotā toggle and came up with weird results. When going from MadCatz to Cthulhu, it worked fine. But then toggling from Cthulhu to MadCatz it would not. I only tried this with one of the 8 madcatz pcbs I got. I donāt know if this is PCB dependent.
Is it even advisable to āhotā swap?
Hot switching worked fine for me when I tried it for fun, Windows just made the āhardware disconnectedā and the āhardware connectedā beeps, and the Game Controllers window in the Control Panel switched accordinglyā¦ I dunno about the āif itās a good ideaā part, though. Iām using a Cthulhu and a late MadCatz pad.
I canāt think of any way it would damage either pcb.
i used a dremel with cutting disc to make the hole for the switch and a 1/8" bit to make the holes for the small screws.
to make the hole for the switch really depends on the shape of the switch you buy. some are round, some are rectangular. the ones i use are called heavy duty dpdt slide switch from radioshack. the screws used are #4-40 x 3/8" round head slotted from home depot.
usually what iāll do is cut the hole to mount the switch, then mount the switch and just use the screw holes from the switch as guides to drill the holes through the case.
Anybody have a pic or wiring diagram for the switch between the 360 and ps3 boards. Iām a little confused how that would work. The pic i posted above has 2 cables if I remove one and add a switch how would that work?
Also is the wiring in the usb cable for the 360 and ps3 the same?
I am new to these forums so forgive me if this has already been answered but I couldnāt find the answer.
I have a first party MS brand Xbox360 controller that I gutted and wired into the Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection joystick to get it working with the Xbox360. It works all fine and dandy for Xbox360.
Yesterday I ordered a Cthulhu board and I wanted to get this wired up in the same joystick case so that my SF:AC stick works on PS3 and Xbox360. After doing a litlte bit of reading it seems that there is a way to get this to work with 1 USB cable coming out as long as I have a switch installed.
However I am pretty confused as to exactly how to do this. Also I am not sure if the First Party Microsoft Xbox360 wired controller I have is a ācommon groundā controller as Iāve seen that term been thrown around on these boards.
So I figured Iād ask about the common ground first of all, and then if someone could point me in the right direction on how to get this wired up.
Also, will that diagram right above here, work perfectly fine if I just want to have 2 USB cables coming out of my joystick and obviously just plug 1 in at a time for the system I want to play?
If itās first party it may or may not be. Do you have one or two wires for each of the buttons? You should also check the Slagcoin diagrams:
Wow thanks for that link, that has a ton of info.
I am not sure which controller I have gutted but I will check for sure tonight. It seems if I have the older version then I will have to run a few ground wires correct?
When I wired up my stick the way it currently is, I did it kind of ghetto and just wired the ground for EACH button to the ground on the arcade joystick/buttons, however when I go in and wire my cthulhu board in there, Iām going to completely rewire my controller for the 360 side as well.
Okay so I looked last night, and I have the Early Xbox360 controller pictured here ā¦
I am a little confused as to what all those different ācommonā points actually mean.
Does that mean Iām going to have to run 1 wire from EACH of those ācommonā buttons, and link the other one to it?
For instance, for the X,A,Y,B buttons ā¦
For B and Y, will I have to run a ground from the Xbox360 PCB B to the corresponding joystick button, and then run that to the corresponding Y button as well? And then for X and A, iāll have to run another wire from the Xbox360 PCB ground to the X arcade button, and then run that to the A arcade button? And then so on for all of the other āpairsā of grounds?
Whereas with the newer Xbox360 controllers, you can share the ground among all the joystick buttons?
Sorry for the newb questions, Iām just not very educated about exactly how electronics and circuitry works
Hi Voltech,
in your case you can apply that VSHG MOd Tutorial:

USB wiring is the same. Have fun
Hi,
Iām just wondering about this scenario:
no (!) common ground xbox360 padhack
in dual pcb combination with
common ground PS2 padhack.
When Iām daisy chain the buttons for common ground PS2 padhack I will bridge all dedicated GND of the not common ground xbox360 padhack.
What is the effect? Will this work properly?
Bye,
Bencao
No! The steps in this thread require all pcbās to be common ground.
For your example, use a 7404 hex inverter and 4066N analog switch chips to convert your Xbox360 pad to common ground. Then you can wire the 360 pad and the PSX pad together.
Toodles is your response to bencao74 or me?
I couldnāt really understand what bencao74 was talking about, and you mentioned common ground so I wasnāt sure.
