2 N.Y.P.D. Officers Killed in Brooklyn Ambush; Suspect Commits Suicide

One police officer was killed and another was left critically injured after they were shot in a patrol car in Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon, the authorities said.

The shooting took place near Myrtle and Tompkins Avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

“It looks like they were shot in the upper body,” Deputy Chief Kim Royster said.

She said that a suspect fled into a subway station after shooting the two officers from the patrol car’s passenger side, and that the police had recovered a gun from the scene.

Chief Royster said the suspect opened fire on the police officers, ran up Myrtle, went into a subway station and officers found him there wounded with a gunshot wound that appeared to be self-inflicted. His condition is unclear, she said

Fire Department officials said that a 911 call came in around 2:50 p.m. reporting that two people had been shot.

Charlie Hu, the manager of a liquor store at the same corner, said he saw two police officers slouched over in the front seat of their patrol car. At least one of the officers, Mr. Hu said, appeared to have been shot in the head.

2 New York cops murdered in ‘execution style’ ambush

Two NYPD officers have been shot dead by a suspect who ambushed their patrol car ‘execution style’ in Brooklyn. The perpetrator was chased by police and reportedly died of a self-inflicted gun wound.

Both officers succumbed to gunshot wounds to the head, City Councilman Robert Cornegy said at a news conference according to CBS New York.

The shooting took place in Brooklyn outside of the Tompkins Houses at around 3pm. The shooter reportedly came out of the building before shooting the officers patrolling the area. According to the witnesses he then ran away into the subway where he was either shot by police chasing him or died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

I find it hard to sympathize. I mean, I know I should. No one deserves to go out that way. But this happened in Bed-Stuy where the police show no love to the community. I’m surprised more shit like this doesn’t happen, to be honest. Shit is tense in those neighborhoods.
