A North Korean diplomat, addressing the U.N. General Assembly, warned Monday that a war can break out any time on the Korean Peninsula due to mounting military tensions.
“The situation on the peninsula is on the brink of explosion and nobody knows when the war will break out,” North Korea‘s deputy ambassador to the U.N. Ri Tong-il said.
He accused the U.S. of continuing to exacerbate the situation with “increased hostilities” against Pyongyang.
Ri said his communist nation is a nuclear state and the six-way talks on its nuclear program have become “almost a dead body.” The negotiations have not been held since December 2008.
Ri dismissed a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Pyongyang’s nuclear ambitions.
IAEA chief Yukio Amano told the U.N. that the North‘s move is “deeply troubling.” He cited North Korea’s revelation in 2010 of a uranium enrichment facility in Yongbyon.
Ri stressed North Korea has withdrawn from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT) and it is not subject to rules set by the IAEA, which he claimed “blindly” sides with the U.S.

And I bet Obama will give them acouple million more dollars just for them to go away. North Korea does this every year because Obama and Bush before him keeps fucking paying them.
Wait now… this is North Korea right? South Korea is ok? I ask because I always look forward to new Samsung products. I can’t have a war interfering with my first world privileges.
On a serious note it should smell like some serious shit to people that we go into Iraq to “make a regime change” and “fight for democracy” and wont fucking touch N. Korea. Say what you will about Saddam, but he was a stabilizing force in the region, and from what I’m led to believe the people in N. Korea now are far worse off than the people in Iraq under Saddam’s rule.
And what’s REALLY wrong with this? Just think about it for a second. How many billions of dollars and how much loss of life do we put into these “wars”/“conflicts”/“occupations” or whatever we call it? What if we stopped sending troops and just started bribing people?
It does not work, every year North Korea asks for more money. It is the exact same thing Ghengis Khan did to Rome. You just can not afford it after awhile.
Also North Korea is really just blowing smoke up peoples asses, they just know they will get some money if they yell loud enough.
All that money does is keep Kim Jong-un’s fat ass stocked up with Johnnie Walker and does absolutely nothing for the regular citizens of North Korea who are eating corn out of pig feces just to subsist.
With all that money, has N. Korea stopped barking? No, they only get more belligerent with each time some government gives them money to shut up, because you can only say the same audacious things so much before people start accusing you of crying wolf (which they are) and you have to up the ante.
I’ve seen enough documentaries even to see how strong your point is. There was that one documentary about that Iraqi metal band that they were actually saying their lives were better and safer in Baghdad BEFORE we invaded, and after the invasion, they subsequently had to escape the country and later seek asylum in America. And as far as I can remember, Saddam Hussein never made any threats against the United States. And we invaded.
Now, on top of seeing Kimjongilia and Seoul Train, I’ve SPOKEN firsthand with North Korean defectors in Seoul, and heard the stories of how abysmal and subhuman the average life in North Korea is, and they have to escape just to survive while their leadership continues to threaten South Korea, Japan, and the United States. But we don’t even think of invading.
North Korea doesn’t have oil, and has a million man army on top of what China would send in to keep the buffer zone between them and democracy. Iraq had oil and a fledgling military, supported only by Al Qaeda building bombs out of concrete.
You want to talk about oil? How about the fact that the majority (I think 15 out of 19?) of the terrorists who that were in the planes that hit the WTC buildings were Saudis (none of them were from Iraq)… we didn’t even TOUCH that place.
Also as far as Saddam as a stabilizing force Iraq and Iran were constantly going at it. By getting rid of Saddam now Iran’s left relatively unchecked. We shoulda just let them duke it out and remain unchecked (well… aside from wanting oil). The only thing we’re still doing there is trying to train Iraq’s millitary to… be able to fight Iran.
While it may be rather cruel, I would like to see how far they would REALLY go if they didn’t get any more $$$.
Cause get this: China’s sick of em as well, and if NK starts dumb shit up, China would NOT be at their back (well…maybe…but with the knives pointed AT NK for being so stupid).
honestly? i think this guy is talking smack. if america really wanted to knock that country around a bit, we could do it from the complete safety and comfort of a powerful offshore fleet.
i’m guessing n. korea is banking on China’s historical touchiness about its borders to keep them safe from the big bad west. if china was smart they’d just blow the shit out of north korea and assume sovereignty and let us whine and wring our hands over it.
China’s too busy letting them honeys work in restaurants under slave labor, and anyone else that enters gets sent back to concentration camps.
China barely cares about its own people, what are they going to care about someone else’s? That whole land mass is merely fodder so that their border doesn’t touch the border of democracy. Apparently, democracy is cooties.
