Welcome to online play where a 13 year old can be more mature then people in their 20’s. Good shit to him for making them rage he should just laugh at them.

I’m only 12-years old. I’m starting to go into tournaments in my NorCal area. I’ve been playing SF since I was 6 , and I have to say that the “new generation” of kids will not get into Street Fighter. They appeal to the more “violent” fighting , shooting , puzzle(lol) , etc. If street fighter became Mortal Kombat…and if Ryu threw a Metsu Hadouken and ripped apart chun-li’s body and had million’s of pieces of her body on the floor. Maybe , just maybe they will come to this game. Anyways , we are perfectly fine with the generation of people we have today.

This is not a new thing.
It sucks, but there’s not much you can do about it except get somebody to vet the messages.
I am one of the few kids who actually knows how to “type” and “write” with correct grammar.

As a 14 year old who has been playing fighting games my whole life, I’m glad to hear that someone around my age has picked up the game. Simply tell him if he is getting hatemail, he is doing something RIGHT.

Unfortunately, it is inevitable that anyone will receive hate mail, so it is best if he tries to ignore them. I ignore them for the most part, because I find the messages to be nonsense. If you try to reply saying “Oh, learn and counter such and such tactic”, or “It’s just a game, grow up”, they are going to still continue to send you hate messages anyway. I understand it can be hard to control frustration, but why would anyone go to such lengths as to send a message that is practically an insult? It is a waste of time, and it promotes bad sportsmanship. Who doesn’t like positive mail?

Its funny when they say things like “Fucking fireball spammer” when there are so many ways to get around it. If they’re getting angry, than he is doing something right.
Just tell him to keep up the good work. He’s winning, and people got to respect that, and if they want to hate, by all means, let them hate. As my friend would put it, “more fame, more haters”.
I also respect that he’s is 13 and picking up SF instead of going to games like Modern Warfare 2, or Halo. Of course, a few games of MW2 is fun, but in my honest opinion, like chess, SF builds up the mind. To me SF, as well as other fighting games in the genre, are all based around the mind. The better mindset you have, the better you game is. If people are going to call you dumb for being 13, laugh back, they have weak minds. They couldn’t beat you, and they have the idiocy of trying to rage. Grow up people. First off, it’s a game, not a life or death situation. Secondly, they should learn to channel that rage into some better constructive criticism. “Oh I should of done X,Y, and Z, when he did A,B, and C” instead of, “He spams A,B, and C, freakin’ scrub…”
