[details=Spoiler]Don’t want to beat a dead horse, but, on “hype”: A lot of people have made a lot of good points, especially Viscant. Honestly, though, the most “hype” shit to me were the close/clutch matches, the dark horses and underdogs coming out on top, and the really solid play. Some of the unnecessary/excessive out of game taunting/celebration wasn’t so hype, but meh seems most of that’s been resolved.
What I found ironic was that when I cheered for Paul when he took a game against Gootecks in the first set of the finals, everybody turned around and gave me a funny/WTF look; and when Paul took the whole thing, besides myself and Dragonite, I heard crickets yet whenever Gootecks took a round during both sets everybody went nuts and shit themselves (yes, I’m exaggerating); there might not be “cliques” but there’s definitely a bias towards how we treat certain players like the “Day Crew”; it seems like, yes, “get hype” for your friends but show little to no respect for those who beat your friends. All I know is during my first tournament I had some people cheering me on and congratulating me on my wins and offering advice after my losses; if it weren’t for that I’d probably never have gone to another tournament. Just something to think about, I guess.[/details]
