(11/20 PSN!) SG: Slightly Different Edition patch notes

I don’t feel like playing the game anymore now that the patch is out. Is that weird?

Yes

how so? i know its gonna be a whole new game compared to the old one. is that the reason?

Just play on XBL instead! There you have at least 2 months before the patch ruins the game!

If your not to poverty to buy a ps3 id recommend it especially if you like the few exclusives. I prefer my ps3 for fighters far more than my 360.

As for the patch. Loving it but i still suck.

The patch is the hero we need but not the hero we deserve.

Naw, it feels like I spent so much energy waiting and watching for the patch that now that its here, I have no energy to enjoy it…

noob

As a 360 owner, I hate you so much right now.

The lack of male characters and artstyle and it just being a ripoff of MvC2 finally got to you, eh? :^P

Damage multiplier doesn’t cause any confusion for me, I just hit 'em until they die. (^.^) And yes, there is a reason - because of where the multiplier happens during the actual calculation of damage, increasing a solo’s damage is not the same in practice as decreasing the other team’s health. It’s kinda sorta almost the same, but not exactly.

Headed online for a good spanking, in a few…

Will try and get friends back into this again.

Even they’re schmucks.

Actually curious about this. What are the differences in the long run.

Teach Me! Professor Z!

Yo, the 5f leniency on chains feels REALLY fucking good. Chains feel more like Marvel, especially for execution-challenged bastards like me.

For that, and for Skullgirls in general, thank you Mike Z., Alex Ahad, and everyone involved.

Because of where the multiplier is applied during the damage calculation, in reference to minimum attack dmg by percent or how things like forced proration work, your combo damage is not always simply (combo damage at 1.0) * damage multiplier…which is what the effective damage would be if you just dropped the opponent’s health. In a lot of cases it is the same, but not in all of them.

Let’s use an MvC2 example since the formula is harsher - the minimum damage a hit can do is 1 point, out of 143 total. Tron’s Lunch Rush is 41 hits, with many of them doing the minimum 1 point. If you raise the game damage, there are two ways to do the calculation. The way MvC2 ACTUALLY does it is multiply the final scaled damage by some value, so all the hits will do a minimum of 2 damage. That’s equivalent to scaling the opponent’s health by 50% - the entire super does twice as much. The other way to do it, closer to SG’s, would be to multiply the initial damage but leave the final limit of 1 in place, which would raise the damage of Lunch Rush’s initial hits but not the fully scaled ones. It would still do more damage, but not twice as much.

Oh… Well… Can you make it so solos do twice as much damage? I’d enjoy that. :stuck_out_tongue: Oh… Snap… Just invented something fun for a future oatch… Heading to suggestion thread now.

Hey Mike, how does game sales work for DLC games. I know that overall it’s less interesting for companies when a game sales increase after, let’s say, over 6 months of its original release, for retail titles (I guess it has to do with used games sales, but I don’t know what other factors also affect this). Is the same true for DLC games? Do you guys get less money from a SG sale now, than, say in the original week of its release?

This was super weird to type and I hope it made any sense… o_O

After a week of playing this game with it’s new patch, I have to say it’s the best experience I’ve ever had. I’ve been slowly learning the game, thanks to everyone I face that give me tips and suggestions, and I’ve been having a blast. The online 95% of the time feels like it’s offline.

Thank you Mike Z and the rest of the skullgirls team for making this a wonderful experience

I had a friend that was really into Skullgirls when it dropped but there was always something bugging him.

After playing yesterday he wants to be Mike’Z best friend, the patch notes alone were making him drool.

<3

Oh and one last thing I forgot to say to Mike Z and his team directly, you guys are a major part of the reason i want to make fighting games one day, you guys never gave up  keep up the good work!
