(11/20 PSN!) SG: Slightly Different Edition patch notes

Shouldn’t they more like, be the reason why you don’t want to? If I was an idealistic aspiring FG creator and had seen this entire fucking mess now-lab-zero had to work through, I’d become a taxi driver instead.

Well…when you put it that way…I guess I was a bit more inspired back when SkullGirls was released/was being released. I guess the whole thing they went through was a fucking mess lol.

EDIT: I personally wanted to make fighting games before SkullGirls, but Skullgirls enhanced it with it’s innovative artstyle, mechanics and characters, but I can see what you mean. I probably wouldn’t want to go through that either lol.

Sometimes I should really think this stuff out XD

QFT. What everyone should take away from SG on the game-creation side is NEVER GIVE UP YOUR IP. Though the problem with that is you may be unable to get a publisher, at least in the U.S.

What *I’m *taking away from all this… is that I should be making low-budget games on the iThings.

There’s some skepticism about how much iGames actually make, but yep. I’d be doing it already except I hate touch interfaces.

Haha, well, that statement was *mostly *sarcasm. I don’t understand how an independent developer is supposed to succeed through all of these big-console shenanigans.

Skullgirls made me feel more confident.
I want to make games, but more like rpgs and side-scrolling action games. Have two main games outlined, and other ones less comcrete.

Wasnt there some kick starter game console in development that is designed with everyday joes making games on it as standard…

Some shit like zoosk or zoom or something.

OUYA!!! O_o

Yeah thats it!

Sg for ouya, lets make it happen!

Zero Lab should be considerer to make a kickstarter for the DLC Characters, tought.

I suppose with everything they’ve gone through, I would trust them to eventually deliver me more content.

They don’t own the IP. Also with new characters cost of ~$200k apiece success is not guaranteed…

I’m just curious since I don’t know the business, does this factor heavily into your current situation with respect to DLC? I know you’ve got a lot of stuff going on, but what I wonder (and I know it’s none of my business) is if you have to license the IP that you created to sell DLC for it. Maybe I’m way off.

oh man the wait for the xbox patch sucks so bad. a week later and still no news on a date or anything. this is even worse than the original wait imo since i know a whole bunch of people are playing it already.

I prefer this waiting period, tbh. At least now, there’s something I can do to actually access the patch (find friend with ps3). Before, there was nothing I could do but wait and hope for some good news.

I just went out to buy a PS3. Fortunately, I was already using a stick with support for both consoles. No, I didn’t buy it just for the patch. It’s what all my friends play fighting games on anyway.

I think properly porting the SG engine to an Android-based platform would probably take more effort than the PC port they’ve already committed to. Could be wrong though(since there is the advantage of only having to test for the OUYA hardware rather than multiple PC configs or multiple Android phones)

That aside, I totally hope it takes off(a console box with oh-so-many-less middlemen to deal with, that is).

Isn’t it possible to buy your IP back though? I’m sure it costs a lot if it is but I’m just interested in if it was actually possible.
