10 years ago today G4 mergerd with Techtv

Ho tryna pretend she ain’t lick da psp. Bitch get a grip & dont be basic

Was IIRC, the first time I saw actual gameplay of the series. I remember a guy using I-No and just doing f.S a lot, not sure if he actually knew what he was doing though.

I started watching G4 when it first started, and I watched everything, Cinematech, Blister, Players, Portal, G4TV.Com, Cheat, everything. Until 2005 when it all went to Fastlane, Cops, and Cheaters. I haven’t looked back since.

Uh…Ninja Warrior isn’t dead. They just don’t broadcast Sasuke over here anymore.

But yeah, Sasuke’s still going strong, American Ninja Warrior is growing by the day (they had to add an extra city qualifier), and they just had the ANW vs Sasuke exhibition a couple of months ago where the ANW stars BEAT DOWN the Sasuke Stars.

People getting the years fucked up. This didnt happen until 06 and even then it was one episode. Marathons didnt start till like 08. Thats when shit got flipped

American Ninja Warrior was some basic shit. :coffee:

I always recognize the day right after E3 06 as the day G4 started getting shitty. Their line ups they advertised and show revamps they started airing that week had me like wtf. Code Monkeys was the last good show on there.

And yet again, Sasuke brought their best and got completely washed out. I mean…there’s really no excuse for that, especially since Sasuke runs bi-annually compared to ANW’s annual. They had guys who ran Sasuke about 20 some times, compared to the Americans who had no one run it in double digits.

I’m not saying the Americans are better, because…well, none of them have achieved Total Victory so they can’t be by default. But this stigma of ANW being some basic shit that ruins the legacy of Sasuke needs to fucking go now.

That’s the thing that got me. Makoto Nagano could finish the first stage of Sasuke in his sleep or run it twice and still have time on the clock. In ANW, he messed up quite early as I recall in the preliminaries, which seemed to me as significantly simplistic compared to Sasuke’s. By basic, I never meant it ruined the legacy of Sasuke (I can’t really say that), but that it wasn’t as entertaining as the original. It didn’t suck, but it only kept my attention by so much.

Speaking of which, didn’t only one or two contestants from ANW made it to Japan, but never really made it far? I recall one or two made it to Japan, but only once, yet are still called veterans. Wouldn’t making it to Sasuke about 3+ times make you a veteran?

the salt on america is hilarious by the weaboo girls.

i really wanna train for next year…though not sure what to do exactly. it seems like most of these guys are parkour guys. odd since parkour itself isnt that big on upper body stuff.

Well ANW likes to switch up Stage 1 a lot because a ton of people keep burning through it. It’s possible that Makoto just got caught up in an obstacle he wasn’t familiar with. And honestly, if the course is simplistic (which I don’t really think it is), it’d be fine because…well, in the end it tests speed, agility, strength and endurance. Not brainpower lol. Eventually someone finds an optimal way through an obstacle and everyone follows. Hell, the former death knell of everyone, the Cliffhanger, had to be upgraded to the Ultimate Cliffhanger and even that is no longer the harbinger of doom anymore.

And the main reason a lot of ANW contestants don’t go to Japan is expense. But the main reason they’re called veterans isn’t the amount of times they’ve been to Sasuke but moreso because of the amount of time they’ve actually been training and working specifically for Sasuke/ANW.

Honestly, the format ANW now is a lot better than what they were doing before, which was just sending the best to Sasuke. I mean, shit if you’re going to have to spend so much on making homegrown courses anyway to do preliminaries, might as well do the whole thing (with Sasuke’s backing of course, remember that none of this happens without them). Plus now you got about a 100 people from America going through Midoryama rather than just 6-10, not to mention having them run in the same competition. When they sent people to Sasuke personally it was always awkward because the Americans basically had to run separately and weren’t really a part of the Sasuke competition. The only times they were was when the few Americans were there out of their own pocket.

That reminded me of how I was previously going to the gym for parkour training, but studies got in the way. I could always practice core exercises and cardio at home.

Well American Ninja Warrior is on tonight. Should be a good crop.

I don’t know what the fuck you guys are smoking. Code Monkeys was dreadfully unfunny and stupid.

Code Monkeys had its moments for me, but I did the show’s animation and style though.

Same here

You guys worked on the show

Yo that channel was awesome for 6 months. Then only Ninja Warrior was palpable. I used to come home and watch AOTS then Ninja Warrior daily. If I didn’t catch it in the afternoon I watched it before I went to sleep.

Cinematech, who knew editing trailers and gameplay vids together to last for 15mis actually work for television.
