I think you’d add up the startup active and recovery frames to tell you the time it takes for a move to execute and recover. Then you’re subtract the recovery from the previous move and the startup of the next move from the hitstun of the previous move to work out how many frames you have to hit the next button.
boxer jab links
4 (startup) + 2 (active) + 7 (recovery) = 13 frames
13 (hitstun) - 7 (recovery from previous moves hit frames) - 4 (startup before next moves hit frames) =2 frames to hit the link? That doesn’t sound right but fuckit ill carry on to the next bit of maths.
If we assume leniency of a frame then, thats button presses spaced by 14 frames to link them. There are 60 frames in a second and 60 seconds in a minute so thats 3600 frames per minute. 3600 divided by 14 is 257? Which I don’t think is right but you can probably find some fuckup in my working.
You’re forgetting the effects of meaty hits. If my Bison’s c.lk hits on the first active frame, recovery starts one frame early. Also, frames are doubled, hence 55f charge, so your 257bpm is really 128.5.That helps to explain my finding of 154 or so bpm for my bison whose clk has similar properties (1 frame faster to start… but 1 frame slower to recover. 1800/13 (meaty) comes out to 138.4 bpm plus of course brain latency.1800/154 comes out to 11.7 which means I take about 1.2 frames between click and kick or about 40 ms, which hardly seems that bad.
Edit: tried to quote but Palm Blazer is a piece of shit.
I got questions about frame and linking. Say c.jab give you +5 on hit and c.hk are 5 frame start up. This does mean it’s 0 frame link or 1 frame? And how is it possible to link when there’s 0 frame in between?
I assume you’re talking about Ryu. The frame data on the SRK wiki shows which frame the move hits on, rather than just startup. So his sweep hits on the fifth frame (actual startup is 4 frames), it’s actually a 1 frame link. There are no 0 frame links.
So after Years of playing with pad I finally got my arcade stick. And with that (Ryu player) my SRK-FADC into Ultra sucks like hell. always pressing the buttons while having the stick df. and as a result a SRK instead of a ultra is done.
Thats kind a funny cuz while playing with pad I always pressed the wrong button, with stick the motion is the problem (d. df. f.) And especially execute this while playing against decent players -.-
It is hard to get this out of a brain wich is really used to a pad and therefore used to smash some buttons
In Training Mode where Ive got all the time in the world, its not that hard…
Yeah i always try it but you know while in the heart of battle Iam getting nervous and start to move the joystick kind a weird. I have no problems doing this while playing with friends at my home -.- But its diffrent in online play^^
sometimes my hand just lets go of the controller.
everything is cool, im cruising along, feeding some dude a big fat combo then bloop, my left hand lets go.
it probably happens no more than once a day and has been happening for 17 years.
i might have some sort of mild sf based epilepsy or something.
Hey guys is there a thread for transitioning from pad to stick? I bought a Mad Catz stick (not TE) and so far it fucking blows. I can’t do anything right and the stick feels like shit and noisy as hell.
Takes a few days, just keep at it. The day I bought mine was the day I switched from US to JAP style sticks, and it screwed me over until I got stuff down. Now I can’t go back again
Yeah that problem is known to me. I noticed it several times. It happens to me while doing a combo and when I want finish with a SRK>FADC into Ultra my hand lets go while doing the Ultra motion^^
I think i have a SRK>FADC into Ultra dyslexia nevertheless I medicate it with marijuanna xD and it seem to work xD
