Well i’m from the UK so if I come up against anyone outside Europe (which is like 95% of KOF online), then I get lag. Sucks to live here lol.
Gaming in the mid-early 90’s was very different from today.
Today the standard for fighting games is set by games like sf4 and BB. You can’t compare the experience of a game that came out in 2009 to the old days of fighting games. Arcades are nowhere to be found, and I’m not 12 anymore so I dont have 10 friends who want to come over my house and play video games with me.
Today the potentially great thing about fighting games is the ability to jump online at any time and find random people to play, its the closest thing many of us can get to the old school days where we can find an arcade and thrash randoms all day long for 50 cents. In this area sf4 and BB(from what I hear I never played it) deliver and king of fighters fails on an epic level, which is simply unacceptable.
I know there are a ton of people sticking up for this game and snk, and thats fine I love this game too(this is the 1st time in my life I’ve been more into kof than street fighter) but all the criticism its getting from the unhappy consumers is well deserved, telling people to rework their internet, or that they are doing something wrong is really just silly, especially when many of these same people flawlessly play BB and sf4 in those same connections.
SNK needs to come through and they need to come through 2 weeks ago, the later this patch hits the worse it is for them, TBH I’m probably going to play no matter what, if there are local tourneys I’ll enter, and I’ll try and get my friends into it because I think this game is spectacular. But my opinion does not matter all that much, if this game is going to take off(and we all know its more than good enough too) snk/ignition needs to come through on an epic level and they need to come through fast. Trying to silence or diminish the people who are offering constructive criticism is not going to help this game get its due.
What you all have to understand also is that you are talking to Reynald (l2slythe)…he has his own KOFXII Arcade and people come by to play it all the time, so he plays it in his own Arcade cabinet he won at the Ignition KOFXII National as I am sure most of you know 'Arcade Reynald".
especially when many of these same people flawlessly play BB and sf4 in those same connections.
SF4 has flawless online lol, don’t get me wrong I agree with u on everything u said…I just don’t know about that line.
I’m sorry but Dandy J that avatar is hilarious
People don’t have to bother with that shit to play SF4/BB/STHDR/MvC2 online. It’s not going to change anything. The problem lies with SNK and their refusal to use good netcode (GGPO).
So now I guess that Carl is Top Tier with Arakune and v-13 is Mid Tier?
Cool
he said tournaments, plural man
okay i just played sum with deadly rave neo who lives 2 hours
away from me and the input lag made the game unplayable.
shit was like kaillera back in the day lol!(wired 10 meg conn)
i love snk but dam…i might have to trade this game in for muramasa:lovin:
fucking travesty=typical snk, i dont know why i got my hopes up.
SF4, SFHDR and MvC2 dont use GGPO netcode.
- Capcom based STHDR and MvC2 rollback-like netcode on GGPO.
- All three work better than XII.
Just an Idea…
state your connection type and how good of a connection you have IE: 10megs, 5 megs, DSL, T1… Wireless or Wired… port forewarding…
then we can determine who is playing with a good connection coming out of your box and who is playing with 10 comps in the house on wireless while their family is banking online…
edit: above poster about GGPO, i think ive heard soemthing like that netcode doesnt quite translate to some of the newer games well?
could have something to do with the online play.

God you are so full of shit. Capcom didnt make these games, Backbone did. Capcom just published them on XBLA and PSN. The net code in both SF2HDR and MvC2 are the same since both are developed by Backbone and have nothing to do with GGPO. Its true that Capcom licenced the GGPO netcode but they have yet to use it.

XBL version of the patch isnt out yet. We all know fighters perform better on XBL than PSN. I suggest you wait. Do you even own the game? I dont even see a XBL or PSN gamertag associated to your name. Have you played anyone from SRK? You never signed up for the match making thread I made in these forums or you are playing people from the other side of world just to come here and bitch about it.
^^ good post.
ppl should take a sec and look at their connection before they bitch, but that seems to be the consensus of all the experienced players in this thread.
I do. I can’t connect to anyone unless i forward ports. Also, mic chat adds lag, so turn that off too.
Look, it goes like this. No, this game aint gonna work all nice and shit like those games. but if you HAVE to forward ports, Have to turn off mic chat, HAVE to limit the room to 2 players, HAVE to use a wired hookup to have a good connection, then do it and play or don’t and stop playing the game. There will come a time in a week or so when everything will be established, and no amount of complaining will solve anything. It doesn’t help to just stick in a rut complaining about a game you want to play but cant. The time is better spent doing something else.
What? This helps in all games, people who don’t do this slow shit down for the rest of us. I have been gaming for pc for god knows how long, and if you don’t forward ports on your system, then you WILL no matter what get lag.
I could go into details but you are just trolling so i will leave it at that
Do you even own this game?
Yeah, I went out and blew 60$ on a potentially practice mode-only game after how great Garou/*98UM on XBLA turned out.
Fuck, no. I went with my gut. Even game review websites caught on to how shitty the online experience was.
This patch didn’t do anything. All it did was trade a high amount of slowdown/low amount of input delay for relatively normal speed/high amount of input delay.
On what console? Who have you played from SRK? Pics please? Untill then, you’re lying. Completely ignore my post cause I reemed that ass. STFU, you’re just a fucking troll.
He’s being sarcastic.
Also, does anyone have any idea why the results are so mixed?
Wow… so you don’t have the game, you have assured yourself that you’ve made the “right” decision and yet here you are… talking about the game like you know what everyone is talking about. I think that’s called being a dumbass. Seriously go see a psychologist about your attention-seeking personality.
My guess is that the netcode is improved however it’s easily affected by multiple people using the same internet connection. Chances people are just playing against other people who have siblings or roomates that share the same connection.
