1.02 patch is up for PSN

haha figured as much

**
someone who knows how to do the Chin and Joe infinites should see if they are still there though!!!**

Could the hit and miss be due to PSN more then the game? Like wireless users, foreign internet, etc?

I expect it to be better on XBL as well.

yeah for piracy issues, not for consumer service.

so I spent some time playing this game online. It IS an improvement but it’s still worst than SF4 netcoding. I would seriously sit here looking for decent connections (i mostly got red’s and a few yellows but nothing better). Even in the “east coast only” rooms the only people that came in were yellow bars zonking in and out of the red portion

all in all you basically need to pray to god that somehow the connection is good with other people (which is really rare). The Yellow bars in KOF12 are basically equivalent to the amount of lag you’ll get out of a 2 red bar SF4 game. I’m glad that ignition did SOMETHING about it but it really isn’t much. Regardless the game to me online feels really really unplayable still. The people around my town who got KOF12 sold them off to ebay and the people who live nearby (which is very few) who tried playing still have somewhat bad connections.

As much of a great game this is offline i can’t see myself playing it that much since everyone around my area are too caught up in street fighter 4. I was willing to give SNK a try even with the bad rep it got for its xbox live arcade games (as far as netcoding) and so far i’m pretty much regretting that decision.

also having 1000mb taken up on my playstation 3 because of these patches are pretty annoying as well

sc2970:
if you installed the game before the first patch came out you should delete that data and reinstal the game and it will only take 700mb instead of 1500mb (not sure what you mean by 1000 since that’s in the middle)

I really don’t see how that’s even remotely annoying unless you only have a 20gb hdd. Even then you should know to upgrade since almost every other ps3 game requires more than just 1gb of space for install.

I played today… what a great experience online. i played with little to no lag all day.

If you think about it, it is a consumer service. People on PS3 are playing people without the patch and getting the same crappy connection prior to the patch. Which is leading them to believe that the patch is no good. Also I know friends that have Modded their Xboxes and patch pirated games just like a normal game.

Personally I wouldnt game on PS3 online with fighters. Fighters are just too senstive, too many factors on PSN. Anyways, Im planning to pick up a PS3 now with the announcement of PS3 Slim and a lower price.

I just played in a room with 4 other players, all yellow connections and it was really smooth. It felt on par with BlazBlue. There was no slowdown but we did have a few instances of hiccups which I think were caused by people leaving the room. I’m very pleased with this patch.

Perhaps it’s just me, but I have no problems with Blazeblue online or SFIV(well to an extent) and even with the patch this is still trash. KOF is so sensitive and fast paced I can’t deal with the input lag. I don’t know about you guys but I like to have hit confirmation before I follow through with combos. It’s improved but in comparison to what?

I’ve been defending this game since day one, and I really feel let down. I’ll try again some other time but for now I guess it’s offline exclusively for me.

The online play has definitely improved with the patch but it still lags a bit for me, even on the character select screen.

I’m extremely happy to hear that it’s been an improvement! Roll on Sep 24th!

I just tried out the online with the new patch and while I was initially happy to see little to no slowdown now I’m noticing a lot of input lag which is quite upsetting.

It may have been just a couple of bad connections/people that haven’t installed yet so ill try again later.

Small world  You played me!

Yeah was smooth. Sorry I couldn’t stay for long. Gonna have another test tonight and hopefully have some overseas battles (I’m UK based too).

Can Mature still do qcb+K after DM in the new patch?

Yeah I’m the same. I think the commands in this game are so picky that it doesn’t lend itself well to online play. In Blazblue for example you can buffer in moves way before they actually come out because the way the game reads inputs is really lenient. KOF12 on the other hand has extremely small windows for canceling normals into other normals or normals into specials.

Yep.

Online blows though. Yeah its improved. So what? Same problems are there, just a little less than before.

its weird there are so many mixed reports. i have heard from people that i trust that it is very, very good now (like, on the level of bb even) and others saying its like kaillera or something. what gives? are you guys playing with people that you know where they live or just randoms? are there ports to forward on ps3 like there are on xbl?

Too many variables right now, especially with the patch being optional.

Well the patch seems to improve online play from my end. There is still delay but the match is less choppy and well it is actually playable.

The screen is not chugging if you know what I mean.

It isn’t better than SFIV, but at least the choppyness has stopped. I play more tomorrow when more people are on.
