sent gives much more leeway at the start of the match, so those who don’t trust their reactions or don’t think they can block random boshit at the outset can opt to start sent giving them the chance to not get hit and lose right at the start
however starting sent puts many at a disadvantage because many can’t play this matchup well (sent vs mag)
starting storm requires you to react more quickly at start of match BUT after getting away the match becomes ridiculously lop sided i think storm + drones/cap vs mag + typhoon/psy or rp is 7-3 at BEST for mag
no reason for storm to ever get hit after the start of the match, getting in with mag usually requires either extreme patience, random boshit/luck, or metagame shit (knowledge of playstyles, experience vs player, etc)
going to decide day before/day of just like always
also, in regard to derek’s/james’s arguments, i think due to the nature of marvel compared to other games (ST, 3s) the way a marvel match or a match up plays out is MUCH more complex and situational than anything else. especially compared to something like ST where match ups are very clear cut, throw fireball, if he jumps uppercut, blah blah
marvel matches get to the point where you can have a bleeding sent and must be forced to decide whether you want to sacrifice halflife by DHCing or not kill a magneto and hope to not get hit
probably getting off track here, but i think my point is decipherable
ADDITIONALLY
i think compared to other communities, the marvel community is much more willing to share information, i know mixup, josh, and a bunch of others STAY posted in the marvel strategy forum and continuously post new/interesting shit
and because of the dying participation, the idea of STSFN has continually diminished after each passing year
and while petey not divulging EVERYTHING CAN be seen as a dickhead move, it would be wrong to view it as such he’s proven himself time and time again to be ONE OF THE BEST- and for those who are asking about how long it takes to get good, etc
those who are on top have been playing for YEARS
ask for specifics rather than HOW DO I FIGHT SENT WITH STORM
in this regard i don’t think petey or any of us would be unwilling to answer since this requires a person to take it upon themselves to RECOGNIZE SOMETHING THATS AN ISSUE rather than just “being spoon fed” as has been said before
I agree with Deus. Any help Potter gives is already a big favor and I’m happy just to have this thread.
I did ask some very specific questions though, and I hope one of the pros here can give me an idea.
The hardest thing in Sent vs Mag for me is actually choosing when to dash back. I try do it as often as possible, but any crap on the screen (including punches to build meter and start airdash) lock my Sent on block and then Mags gets all over me very fast.
Also, from vids I can see that most Sents often try to fly straight up and hit Mags with a FF combo when Mag tries to catch them. But, at least n my eyes, the straight up fly seems pretty risky, since an infinite or big combo could ruin the whole game and a FF doesn’t take that much. I’d like to know what are safe or good situations to try the fly straight up strategy.
Thanks for any help
Specifics eh? MSS is my best team, but my Sent is the weakest link.
I get hit and gb by good Mags all the time. When vs MSP, what can I do to keep Mags off me, assuming my team is still alive of course.
If Sent gets snapped in, what can I do to avoid the gb attempt, or whats the best normal to use to trade hits on the way down to the ground?
For this type of Sentinel play (no AAA) what techniques are most important? Unblockable is a given.
LOLOLOL
yeah, im like na na na
laughin at you (expletives) like ha ha ha
I play against bill to remember how much I hate marvel and remember how much I love alcohol
1st Q: Proper positioning and spacing is key when facing MSP, especially if your Sent is the one that happens to be on point. This comes with experience and cannot be explained to the fullest with just words. Watch some vids, that’s all I can really say for the moment.
2nd Q: Real talk, if you’re playing a pro Magneto player kiss Sent goodbye. Magnus has unescapable gb’s on Sent, regardless ov how you attempt to avoid 'em.
3rd Q: See 1st Q…especially since you lack AAA. Robust already mentioned the prerequisites for higher Sent play earlier in this thread…
This is all IMO so I may be wrong (point it out if necessary) and I may have forgotten some key elements…I tried lol…
This thread and Sanford’s posts throughout the years are proof alone that Magneto can psychologically damage people for life.
goes back to mashing Cyc into Mag’s face and then Storm -> Sent for the win
you’re right.
marvel = life
don’t go to school
don’t work
I just sit at home all day and play marvel
10 hours a day
I PLAY MARVEL
^^hahaha
goes to work
You’re my hero.
I wish I could be like you.
No school, no work, sit home all day and play Marvel 10 hours a day.
You made one mistake though, marvel != life, marvel > life.
How do I get good at Marvel?
To be born again in Marvel, you must die. After that, you just win.
