Theoretically, Gamergate was a platform to highlight the problems in the video game media. The reality was using the Zoe Quinn scandal as an excuse to start popping off at every female in the gaming industry and/or popping off about any coverage you didn’t like for hyper-niche progressive gaming stuff.

A couple of females in the gaming industry I love and respect off of the top of my head, Kinu Nishimura aka Kinu sensei, Michiru Yamane, and of course fan favorite Mari Shimazaki who designed Bayonetta.

I absolutely love when people prove I’m right. This post right here is Gamergate in a nutshell. Lots of insults about people who you don’t like/agree with, no actual mention of the pitfalls/failures of game journalism.

You positing the first and most obvious misrepresentation of GG, one so played even general anti-GG spokespeople let it go, is adorable. It would be an exercise analogous to patting a 2yo on the head because they discovered the strategy to walking up stairs - for me to actually entertain this cliche, played out smear against GG.
Tell me how GG is splintering due to not establishing its thesis within supporters enough. Tell me how their Trust But Verify edict has been lax lately leading to being taken advantage of. Tell me how a great deal of them aren’t ready to present their arguments in a public forum. Tell me how some are overzealous and turned their media skepticism into irrational contempt for all media. Tell that their adherence to certain ‘e-celebs’ has bit them in the ass (leading to the aforementioned recent rift). Tell me that their lack of citing the SPJ Airplay event gives people ammo to say they do wanna be ideological rather than ethics based.
We can talk about valid and fair criticisms about GG all day. You may be surprised what my current feelings toward them are. But please, please, do not expect me to take the most massively debunked and disingenuous garbage against GG serious enough to copy-paste a counter argument to it. A year ago, sure. Now?
