Here’s another round of Quick Reviews.

P.Gabby, you ever read Spider-Man: With Great Power… by Lapham and Tony Harris? Thoughts?

Yeah I have that Spider-Man book. I remember it being really boring and forgettable. I think Lapham phones in the majority of his marvel/dc work.

Hmm, yeah, I was kinda hoping for more with With Great Power… Oh, well.

Here’s another update. It’s a longer review of one book I recently read and really, really liked. Here’s to Ultimate Human.

It’s been months since my last update. Here’s a roundup of a few TPBs and HCs I’ve read over the past few weeks.

Here’s another roundup of stuff I’ve read… Incorruptible v.1, Avengers Academy v.1, and Superman: Earth One among them.

Thanks for that. I travel in a lot of Marvel fan circles and don’t even know anyone who has read Superman Earth One, offline anyway.

Without reading it from the start I felt I didn’t need another Superman Origin story and definitely did not need to make a blind TPB purchase.

It sold amazingly well for DC and even allowed them to beat out Marvel in December. I think that had more to do with the stupid Twilight connection the media ran with at the time.

Having never read nor watched Twilight, I don’t know what Superman: Earth One has in common with it. I sorta remember the mainstream media making some sort of connection between the two because Superman is a teenager discovering himself in the big city, but that seems like a really tenuous connection. Is it 'cause Superman has red eyes on the cover? There wasn’t a romance or love triangle or anything like that. And there weren’t any hot chicks or anything in the comic. (Although that might have been due in large part to the lousy artwork.)

Well, here’s another update featuring a couple of Amazing Spider-Man: The Gauntlet TPBs I read, Asterios Polyp, and some other stuff.

Here’s a lengthy review I wrote of the seminal (“seminal” means “born of the semen”) work of superhero graphic fiction known as Ultimatum. Jeph Loeb and David Finch, two of the finest modern masters of sequential storytelling, deserve all the credit for this legendary work.

That was a really solid entertaining read.

It seems silly now that I think about it but when you’re talking about bad art and stuff like that it’s nice to include images for people who haven’t read it like me. Though I guess that might be a copyright problem and or me being too lazy to google it

No, you absolutely have a valid point. I don’t own a scanner, or I’d totally be able to scan all the relevant panels/images that I discuss. All the pictures I do post are images I found via Google. If I ever get a scanner, I’ll definitely aim to improve. Hopefully if you ever get a chance to pick up the comic, you can see what I’m talking about.

Thanks for reading!

Back with another long-form review. This time, it’s a little Mark Waid book named Empire.

Here’s a rather lengthy article about my favorite Fantastic Four story, which also happened to be written by Mark Waid.

I’ve posted about The Punisher MAX X-Mas special from 2008. It’s one of my favorite issues.
